Disappointing.
Pros:

Sadly we had a disappointing stay. Our stay was a one night stopover to watch a football match. The location was perfect; just across a road and up some steps before arriving at the football club. We booked a bedroom for 3 people the single bed wasn't made up and the bedding was stored underneath so we had to make it. The bedding on the double bed appeared clean but was very creased and showed previous staining so it was hard to be sure. The tea cups had toothpaste inside. The shower cubicle was not clean, the shower head was grimey so wasn't used. Overall the cleanliness and lack of finishing touches let the hotel down, we left as soon as possible and did not feel we got value for money.
Unfortunately minimum standards were not met and we would not recommend The Tiger Inn.

Average but looked the best option in Merthyr
Pros:

Located on the High St a short walk from the station and town centre. It was a friendly welcome at the bar of the pub/cafe area. The rooms are up a steep staircase and there isn't a lift.
Room was small with a good bed without a window but a skylight which was on the roof. The shower was small the sink large there was plenty of towels and one bottle of bodywash.
A password is given for entering after 10pm.
There wasn't any breakfast and the town didn't seem to have any cafes open before 10am which is kicking out time.

Highly recommend the Tiger Inn
Pros:

The Tiger Inn is a gem of a place to stay - the interior decoration is quirky/quaint - it gave the hotel a homely/welcoming feel - both Sarah and Gareth are a credit to the Tiger Inn - the rooms were spotlessly clean - the bed was comfortable which afforded us a very comfortable nights sleep - along with the comfy pillows - we did stay for breakfast (of which we both had the Welsh Rarebit) of which was ample, sufficient and gorgeous (freshly made to order). We will most certainly be making a booking for another stay in the not to distant future.

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Merthyr Tydfil
Pros:

🌟🌟 A Hidden Gem in Merthyr Tydfil🌟🌟

I recently attended a networking event at the Tiger Inn, and I was thoroughly impressed! The venue combines classic Victorian charm with modern comfort, making it a fantastic spot for both casual gatherings and formal events.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, ensuring everything ran smoothly for our group. The Tiger Lounge stood out with its cosy atmosphere and a great selection of locally sourced food, specialty teas, and excellent coffee. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into the service and quality here.

The location is ideal, situated right at the top of Merthyr High Street, and there’s a lovely sense of community. The inn also offers versatile spaces like the Palm Room, perfect for private functions or special occasions.

I’d highly recommend the Tiger Inn to anyone looking for a warm, friendly venue in Merthyr Tydfil. Whether you're stopping by for a coffee, a meal, or planning an event, it’s a wonderful choice. I’ll definitely be visiting again soon!

Comfortable stay with dog
Pros:

This was a comfortable stay in the centre of Merthyr which was handy for our purposes. They were very accommodating friendly and allowed us to take our dog, which was great.

There are just a few points to highlight that were not very obvious to us when booking, so just to share for others. There are two sets of step steps, so it maybe a challenge for those with mobility issues. On Tripadvisor it says free breakfast- but breakfast is NOT included in your room price but an additional extra, breakfast was very good, but had I have known this was on top of the room price I may have booked elsewhere. The website says checkout is 11:00, but we were told it was 10:00, so maybe worth checking.

Not Accessible! Eh stay because of that.
Pros:

NOT ACCESSIBLE! We booked this hotel less than 24 hours before our stay due to some unexpected changes to our itinerary. We had two disabled people in our party and they were forced to climb two flights of stairs to get to the rooms, which were all on the third floor. Would only give refund if cancelled 48 hrs despite booking last minute. A bit unacceptable given the disability issue and the failure to disclose that on the web site.

Shower nice, bed was ok. No AC during a warm spell and only 1 room had a fan. The staff were amazing and the Flora Dora cocktail was soooo good!

Fabulous!
Pros:

We popped in for a late breakfast, wow, what a gem of a place! The kids had the pancakes and we had salmon, scrambled eggs and fresh sourdough. The food was delicious and the staff were absolutely wonderful; warm, polite and friendly. They welcome dogs too which is an added bonus. Definitely recommend!

tiger inn hotel
Pros:

I recently stayed at the hotel It was very busy but the lady in lounge was very welcoming. I think her name was Sarah or Sara. Even though she was rushed off her feet she still was so accommodating and full of smiles. We waited about 6-7 minutes for our 2nd round of drinks but she gave us some tasty welsh cakes as an apology. What an absolute credit to your beautiful hotel xx

What a hidden gem we will return soon
Pros:

What a little gem of a place. Both us & our 2 dogs were so well looked after. The dogs had treats & beds to sleep on. The welcome we received was wonderful. Sarah, Kiera, Phil the night porter & Shanaya are amazing staff. The hotel is beautifully decorated & is so quirky. Our family met us there for brunch today to exchange Christmas presents & everyone cleared their plates the food was so tasty & beautifully presented. We will definitely return. Thank you so much.

Such a lovely friendly place
Pros:

I visit the Tiger Inn regularly - sometimes for lunch and also in the evening for drinks. The staff are really lovely and friendly, especially Kiera and Sarah. The food is always tasty - lunchtime you can choose from the menu or from the specials board and there are always gorgeous homemade cakes and Welsh Cakes. There is a good choice of drinks and the place is decorated beautifully - if the weather is nice enough then I really recommend sitting out in the delightful garden.

Lovely Coffee, Tasty Food & Great value!
Pros:

Popped in on a sunny Wednesday morning. Was politely welcomed and chose a lovely table by the window. The coffee was perfect and not too hot like some establishments.
Ordered the toasted bagel and it was fantastic value for money! Well worth a visit for a breakfast or lunchtime sit-down. Thank you guys! Lovely renovation, modern twist without removing original features!

Good place to stop after a long drive through the Brecon Beacons!
Pros:

We booked one night after driving from St Davids through the Brecon Beacons park.
Limited parking is available nearby (1 min. walk); there's a fee during the day, but free at night.
The room was clean and comfortable. One window was rattling a bit due to the wind (folded paper jammed on one side took care of it!).
Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor (rooms are upstairs). Nothing fancy, but it tasted good.
