I had a wonderful stay at the tiger inn the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The interior is very quirky and beautiful. The pillows were very good quality and the room spotless. The breakfast was very good quality ingredients and it’s very dog friendly highly recommended and the location is excellent
In here at this moment came in for drinks had to move seats as there was a smell of urine asked for sauvion blanc not available so had another pino grigio was available I like a little ice in my drink but not available not bad for £ 8.05 a glass I don't think . Shocking people of Merthyr deserve better
🌟🌟 A Hidden Gem in Merthyr Tydfil🌟🌟
I recently attended a networking event at the Tiger Inn, and I was thoroughly impressed! The venue combines classic Victorian charm with modern comfort, making it a fantastic spot for both casual gatherings and formal events.
The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, ensuring everything ran smoothly for our group. The Tiger Lounge stood out with its cosy atmosphere and a great selection of locally sourced food, specialty teas, and excellent coffee. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into the service and quality here.
The location is ideal, situated right at the top of Merthyr High Street, and there’s a lovely sense of community. The inn also offers versatile spaces like the Palm Room, perfect for private functions or special occasions.
I’d highly recommend the Tiger Inn to anyone looking for a warm, friendly venue in Merthyr Tydfil. Whether you're stopping by for a coffee, a meal, or planning an event, it’s a wonderful choice. I’ll definitely be visiting again soon!
This was a comfortable stay in the centre of Merthyr which was handy for our purposes. They were very accommodating friendly and allowed us to take our dog, which was great.
There are just a few points to highlight that were not very obvious to us when booking, so just to share for others. There are two sets of step steps, so it maybe a challenge for those with mobility issues. On Tripadvisor it says free breakfast- but breakfast is NOT included in your room price but an additional extra, breakfast was very good, but had I have known this was on top of the room price I may have booked elsewhere. The website says checkout is 11:00, but we were told it was 10:00, so maybe worth checking.
NOT ACCESSIBLE! We booked this hotel less than 24 hours before our stay due to some unexpected changes to our itinerary. We had two disabled people in our party and they were forced to climb two flights of stairs to get to the rooms, which were all on the third floor. Would only give refund if cancelled 48 hrs despite booking last minute. A bit unacceptable given the disability issue and the failure to disclose that on the web site.
Shower nice, bed was ok. No AC during a warm spell and only 1 room had a fan. The staff were amazing and the Flora Dora cocktail was soooo good!
We popped in for a late breakfast, wow, what a gem of a place! The kids had the pancakes and we had salmon, scrambled eggs and fresh sourdough. The food was delicious and the staff were absolutely wonderful; warm, polite and friendly. They welcome dogs too which is an added bonus. Definitely recommend!
I recently stayed at the hotel It was very busy but the lady in lounge was very welcoming. I think her name was Sarah or Sara. Even though she was rushed off her feet she still was so accommodating and full of smiles. We waited about 6-7 minutes for our 2nd round of drinks but she gave us some tasty welsh cakes as an apology. What an absolute credit to your beautiful hotel xx
What a little gem of a place. Both us & our 2 dogs were so well looked after. The dogs had treats & beds to sleep on. The welcome we received was wonderful. Sarah, Kiera, Phil the night porter & Shanaya are amazing staff. The hotel is beautifully decorated & is so quirky. Our family met us there for brunch today to exchange Christmas presents & everyone cleared their plates the food was so tasty & beautifully presented. We will definitely return. Thank you so much.
I visit the Tiger Inn regularly - sometimes for lunch and also in the evening for drinks. The staff are really lovely and friendly, especially Kiera and Sarah. The food is always tasty - lunchtime you can choose from the menu or from the specials board and there are always gorgeous homemade cakes and Welsh Cakes. There is a good choice of drinks and the place is decorated beautifully - if the weather is nice enough then I really recommend sitting out in the delightful garden.
This was an absolute gem, the night before heading to Bike Park Wales. 2 families stayed all the staff incredibly welcoming and for our stay. They all went about and beyond. A real rarity in this day and age.
Delicious breakfast would definitely stay here again if going to Bike Park Wales. Would highly recommend.
Great place to catch up over a leisurely Brunch &/Coffee & cake. I enjoyed Smoked Salmon with Scrambled Eggs and a glass of Gwynt Y Ddraig Black Dragon cider 😋followed by a Latte & Cupcake 😋
Lovely atmosphere & Sarah looked after us very well.
Will definitely be back!
Our second stay here and again it impressed A friendly welcome awaits you here The inn is well situated on Merthyr High street with parking close by and various pubs and eateries a short walk away The rooms are small and basic but spotless with clean white linen There’s a kettle with a good selection of tea and coffee to choose from .
What a friendly hotel
Everyone was very nice; both guests & members of staff
We’ll definitely visit again
The food & drink wee very nice
It was Thai night when we were there
The he beer was very nice indeed
Great reception for my dogs from the visitors to the hotel
Popped in on a sunny Wednesday morning. Was politely welcomed and chose a lovely table by the window. The coffee was perfect and not too hot like some establishments.
Ordered the toasted bagel and it was fantastic value for money! Well worth a visit for a breakfast or lunchtime sit-down. Thank you guys! Lovely renovation, modern twist without removing original features!
We booked one night after driving from St Davids through the Brecon Beacons park.
Limited parking is available nearby (1 min. walk); there's a fee during the day, but free at night.
The room was clean and comfortable. One window was rattling a bit due to the wind (folded paper jammed on one side took care of it!).
Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor (rooms are upstairs). Nothing fancy, but it tasted good.
Would recommend this place to anyone 100%.
We had an Ab Fab afternoon!
Fab food, choice (food & drinks!) & great service! I’ll be back for sure! Defo give it a try, you won’t be disappointed I guarantee!
Great place to stay and great hospitality rooms clean and fresh and very welcoming very central we loved our stay here and will be staying there again thank you very much we enjoyed our stay .. very friendly staff and very helpful while we where there
Unfortunately will have to leave bad review. The owner left me with hefty repair bill. No message, no email, no phone call, only when I was dealing with my receipts, three weeks later, I realised that we cut through live electrical wire to remove fan cable and cracked overhead light!!! A phone call later, in which she explained that is our fault and her handy man nearly got killed to repair it( but we didn't, while supposedly cutting it, she sent after pictures, no dates on them and not before.
Anyway, if you feel like paying £100+ for bunk beds and some repair for the lady, go ahead
Visited for a family meal to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The bar and restaurant are decorated beautifully and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was amazing and good sized portions, which were clearly freshly prepared with good quality ingredients. Two people in our party have complex dietary requirements with several allergies and this was very well catered for. My wife is disabled and she was very impressed with the standard of the accessible toilet.
Would highly recommend!
Really enjoyed my stay for a work trip. Staff extremely friendly and attentive. Room was faultless - expertly cleaned and comfortable bedding. I had a great night's sleep and breakfast was delicious! Good value for money.
