Good location, excellent value for money, breakfast food hot and cold buffets delicious with a large selection and variety from which to choose! Staff friendly, welcoming, helpful, and such lovely, kind people!
I like the property, and get the same room each year! Some people might be put off about the outside appearance, at the moment, as the renovations have been ongoing for several years, but there is a good, and valid reason, that it is not yet completed! This could potentially be a negative!
The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very good.
The hotel felt very dated. Our room no. 14 was very basic in the back of the hotel. In need of modernisation.
Good location and all good with my stay .
Staff were busy a lot due to renovations but were always helpful.
I hope info helps as it’s positive feedback
As the hotel is renovating I hope they think ahead and some info for future thinking
Personal views of course but hopefully helpful
1
for those with physical issues / older maybe and idea to move plugs up higher
Also possibly usb / usb c sockets.
2
The television is too high on the wall and for with those with issues it’s difficult to see / focus on at that height .
At eye level or at least a little lower be much easier .
3
Also for single rooms the large cumbersome wardrobe take up so much room
If renovating for future maybe a rail attached to the wall and minimal shelving for shoes /folding clothes would be sufficient .
4
I missed having a desk
Again if renovating now a space saving idea would be a flip down desk 👍
Giving a lighter more spacious feel .
I hope this helps
Thanks again for a great stay .
Cheers
Nothing
All good 😊
Because the refurb is taking place, the outside doesn't look inviting, but inside (upstairs) is great. We were able to leave our bicycles by reception (so safe). Our rooms were in the refurbished part so looked as new (indeed only 'opened' two weeks before). Breakfast is buffet-style so suits all needs. They don't serve evening meals but there are restaurants nearby. A post prandial evening walk along the prom is beneficial to the digestive system too :)
Everything was great, but an anti-slip mat in the (spacious) showers would be very useful particularly as there were no grab handles.
It didn't concern us, but there are no lifts in the open part of the hotel at present.
Whilst the hotel is going through renovation works the hotel still maintained a good sense of care and attention to me as a guest. Breakfast was excellent, especially the sausages! Note they will be gettin a lift but until then the staircase might not be an easy climb however help and support is willingly offered. WiFi was non existent until I was plugged into the staff one 👍 I did feel the outside could have been made more inviting despite the works, rubbish can be swept up etc. that aside good value for money, clean and friendly welcome! Would stay again!
Nothing
The room was tiny. The bed/mattress the worst I have ever NOT slept upon. The 3 different pieces of room furniture would not be fit to sell in a charity. Where a wall heater had been put in no one has bothered to repaint the wall and the carpet is still ripped in two places where presumably whatever was there before was. The postage stamp tv on the wall was tiny. It was barely worth watching the tv. There is an external electric buzz that permeates the room so annoying it’s like sleeping next to a running refrigerator.
Location was very good . Ideal for a walk along the front. We went further down the road and the local shops were good. We were going to a concert in Sunderland so was easy getting an uber from here. There was some refurbished areas been done but this didn’t make any problem. The breakfast was beautiful and rooms clean.
WiFi was a bit iffy . But due to refurbishment this was understandable. There was no big problem. Parking was good outside too
Location was good. Buffet Breakfast was good.
Work was going on at the hotel and hard to park due to workers cars/vans taking most of the spaces. Bed was tired. Not many electrical sockets in bedroom (only 1 accessible). Tired bathroom with very slippy shower.
Its location and the friendly staff
Rooms bit tired but know they are all getting revamped
From parking on the doorstep, warm welcome and beautiful room (despite it all being renovated), this was a brilliant location for The Playhouse. The beds, room itself and bathroom were impeccable and so much so, we are purchasing a mattress from the same company! Thankyou guys for making it a memorable night!
Breakfast too! Compliments to the chef!!!
We will be back! Front sea view room is very high spec and will definitely be a must!
Staff nice and helpful cosy room
Room was fabulous and brand new. Shame the TV wasn't working for the two nights even though it was a new one. The staff were friendly, food was excellent. Maybe when the refurbishment is complete I might get a sea view.
There wasn't anything other than the fact that the lift didn't work and I was disabled but we were given a lot of help. We felt that once this hotel has completed its transformation and they carry on with the exceptional work that is being done, this will be one of the top hotels in the area.
Good value for money
The location was great. A short walk from the Metro.
The staff were all friendly and helpful. I had a single room, which was adequate for what i needed as I was only staying for one night. Breakfast was great with lots of choice.
The sink in the ensuite was not so clean. Also water from the tap came out cloudy, perhaps because of the building works going on.
I didnt realise till very late at night that the fan in the ensuite made a terrible sound when switched on and unfortunately couldn't be kept off as the switch controlled the light. The main light in the ensuite wasn't working. I did let the young man re know when I checked out regarding the fan.
