We're thrilled to announce the renovation journey of the Royal Hotel have commenced! This indeed means the front elevation looks unsettling however we assure you your comfort is our top priority. Please note that parking is allocated on a first come first served basis.
Please be aware that there are 17 steps leading from reception to the rooms. The staircase is wide with a wide banister.
A deposit may be required at the property.

Great seafront location, and we were lucky to be able to park right in front of the hotel. We had been informed in advance that there was scaffolding in front of the premises while they are refurbished so its appearance did not surprise us.

Breakfast finished at 9 which we found early
On arrival there was work being done on the facade of the building which was initially a bit of a worry. Once we entered the hotel we were greeted by Marie who was very welcoming knowledgeable and polite. Our room was excellent and the breakfast had a good selection Overall our stay was fabulous mainly because of Marie and the other staff and the comfortable ambient surroundings in the hotel
The facade which had workman but it will soon be finished and will make the hotel complete and in a fantastic location to the town

We were upgraded to a superior room because of the stairs (no lift) and inconvenience of building works. However, the staff at the Royal were absolutely brilliant and helped us to get the most out of our stay. The breakfast was excellent and served as a buffet in a small tidy cafe-type area. We would perhaps stay again once the entire building work is completed.
So... we expected "refurbishment" as this was mentioned in The Royal's email to us. However, it did not mention that there was no bar or restaurant at the moment. The "refurbishment" was the entire ground floor being out of use, and stonemasons working directly beneath our windows of the hotel, drilling and replacing stone. We made the best of it but we perhaps would not have booked if we had been made aware of the scale of the work being done.
