Good location if you don't have a car
Pros:

1. The bed was very comfortable, the best we've had in 3 weeks in NZ. 2. The man at the desk was extremely helpful in solving a problem I had. 3. The hotel provided snacks and drinks in the room without charge. 4. Easy walking distance to many places to eat and to the Te Papa Museum.

Cons:

1. No one is at the desk after 5 pm to help you with any questions. 2. There is no parking at the hotel. When I arrived, I couldn't even find a place to park temporarily to unload luggage and check in. 3. No information sent to me in advance to help with parking problem. 4. No table or desk in the room for eating or writing.

Have stayed here for years but probably won't stay again, feels like this place is going downhill.

Great location, wine bar downstairs is great, room had a nice bathroom.

Cons:

We had a king room, the bed was really uncomfortable, the mattresses are either poor quality or old and need replacing - they have a mattress topper on but it doesn't help. No pastries in the morning any more and a weird self check-in process when we arrived at 7pm. Reception closes at 5pm then you have to ask the worker in the wine shop who is not employed by the hotel to help, she tells you ring a number who tell you to talk to the girl in the wine shop. All very weird, feels like there has been a lot of cutbacks and the service you get now is a far cry from the past.

Great room in a cool location- excellent value for money
Pros:

The room was really well designed and laid out and a good size. The location is excellent. The Puffin bar was closed throughout our stay, but I’m sure the lobby would be more vibrant when that’s open. Loved the daily coffee brought to the hallway outside the room!

Cons:

Nothing really. It’s a small hotel so I get that there can’t be 24hr reception.

The intrepid is my gold standard of Wellington Hotels for people who don't want boring.
Pros:

The hotel has a fantastic aesthetic which is stylish, luxe and very cool. the consideration of detail is wonderful, still or sparkling water on tap on every floor lobby, robes, beautiful bathrooms. Free snacks and drinks i the rooms - glorious!! And the location is perfect!

Great spot on central wellington.
Pros:

Great location in the heart of downtown Wellington. Simple check in even after hours, great amenities including guest laundry, spacious rooms with complimentary snacks.

Cons:

The decor of the rooms wasn't to our taste. A bit gloomy.

Would definitely stay again!
Pros:

Great stay, they had personalised treats for my dog and snacks for me. Very welcoming and the wine bar downstairs was great also!

Cons:

The dog bed was much too small for a large dog
