Great views on the Loch, comfy cushions in the window sills, good shower. Room looked really nice. Free parking close to the hotel incl charging points. Dog friendly. Great overall!
Ventilator in shower wasn’t working
Location worked for me
Near to bars and restaurants
Spacious, very modern, and spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The location is excellent—right on the main street and close to pubs and restaurants.

Mooie plek en de kamers waren mooi maar 1 geboekte kamer erg klein
Het 2 persoonsbed was klein. De deur maakte lawaai.
Everything was perfect except...
Glass bathroom door. Totally see through. Absolutely no thank you. Asked to change rooms but apparently they are all the same. ?????
Won't stay again due to this.
The location is superb. Right in the heart of Helensburgh with ready access to public transport. Also wide range of bars restaurants eateries nearby
Nothing
The location was excellent
Room was overcrowded with stuff not required like a record player for example . I know it’s a boutique hotel but stuff in the too. That didn’t have to be there just taking up space .
The Riva Hotel was everything expected from the website and other reviews.
The Twin Room booked was lovely and was thrilled to find a record player in it, and I must say the choice of 45's found was just perfect to bring memories flooding back which was the reason for our visit after 50 years away from the town.
The continental breakfast gave an excellent choice and staff were so obliging if something not available was asked for.
Leaving 😭
The bar/restaurant staff were so friendly and attentive.
The duvet and pillows were spiky with feathers and made it extremely uncomfortable to sleep.
The room was described as King but was very small.
I definitely wouldn't describe this as a boutique hotel.
Room facing the front with two big windows. Room size was great. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Location was ideal for a wedding we attended at Lodge on Lough Lomond.
Would have been nice to have had a cooked breakfast or at least some boiled eggs with the cold meats on selection. Coffee machine in room was flashing red when we tried to use it so Google informed me it needed descaled hence not working. There was a kettle and coffee and tea sachets provided so all was well.
Location was great
Breakfast was poor
The room was very small and to hot . The heating was turned off and it was difficult to open the window. There was no view from the window a wall with hedging attached. Apparently we should have been in another room which I think would have had a good view and the windows would have opened easily
clean. Most staff friendly. Quiet. Comfortable Bed.
En suite wall just a glass screen. Cheapest ever breakfast that wasn't fresh. Fruit was warm and slimy. Bread was cheap sliced bread. Pastries weren't fresh. Just sugar laden cereals. Continental breakfast was shop sliced bread with some charcuterie. Cheese wasn't continental. It was small packets of processed, so called, red Leicester, cheddar and mini baby bells.
Room was too full of bits and bobs. A coffee machine and a kettle. A record player for some reason. A bottle of warm tap water for some reason. A single pod each for the machine doesn't justify a machine. If you're going to provide a coffee machine, provide enough coffee for it to be useful.
When compared to the price the cheap breakfast and other small things that are done on the cheap could be improved to make a much better experience.
Modern well appointed hotel with beautiful rooms bar and excellent restaurant
Rooms were very well appointed tea/ coffee complimentary biscuits and chocolates
Good WiFi - large TV
Modern en-suite bathroom soft towels and shower gel and shampoo
Hair dryer and iron in the room
Good choice continental breakfast included
Fred parking close by - and easy walking distance to local amenities
Nothing
The breakfast was good, as was the cocktail menu and bar staff. The decor in the room was lovely, and the sea view was great.
The room was quite dusty, including the coffee cups and bedding. Animal hair was found a fair bit throughout the room and the bedding wasn't as clean as it could've been. It is a shame the kitchen had fridge issues
Fabulous location. Near to everything. Room was very comfortable. Gail was fantastic to deal with when I needed to change dates around. Any other staff we saw were very pleasant.
Breakfast could have been better. A tiny two slice toaster meant we waited ages for toast and because we were still eating at 9.30 when breakfast finishes I didn’t expect everything to be whipped away at 9.30 on the dot. Another coffee and a pastry would have been nice. We then felt we couldn’t really sit and chat because everything was away.
