Beautiful apartment, in pristine condition, immaculately clean. Great location. Perfect in every aspect!
Absolutely nothing
Not a bad location, the street it was on felt safe. Lots of police and security around. The apartment building had facial recognition with double doors and the apartment door it code access only. The employee David that took my bags to my apartment was very friendly and greeted me and escorted me to the check in desk and waited very patiently while I checked in.
I reserved an apartment at the Anna Suites which is part of the Arena Hotel Ipanema. The front desk employee Charlie gave me a very hard time checking in because of a policy requiring me to present the physical card I used to pay for the reservation. I no longer had that card because many months later my Instacart account was hacked which had the same card on it and was cloned and used for unauthorized purchases. So my bank issued me a new card and I destroyed the old one. I explained this at check in and had already showed them a copy of my reservation email paid in full and my passport verifying my identity but Carlos would not accept this and kept referencing the policy. He said he would have to cancel my reservation and refund my initial payment then book the apartment again and make me pay a 2nd time while I wait for my initial refund. That was not an option for me. I could not afford an additional $2000 USD right then and there. We were at a standstill and I had no other option. Then he asked if I could provide some other receipt of payment using that card and I showed him the bank statement transaction and he said if I email that to him then he would ask his manager to make an exception. The manager agreed. I tried to be nice about this terrible experience and even apologized but I really did not do anything wrong. And that policy does not verify anything anyways so why give me a hard time? I already paid for it and you verified my identity. How does presenting the card help? Then David took me to the apartment building next door and at first the apartment seemed great. I noticed that it did not have a hammock as shown in the photos and even said that to David. During my stay of 6 days 5 nights I noticed that it was not clean. The dining chairs were covered in dust. No biggie for me. But the smell of the whole apartment and even the building hallway leading up to my apartment smelled like a sewer. It was very strong.

Le personnel n’est pas aimable avec les clients, à commencer par le manager. Une de mes amies est tombée malade et ne pouvait plus marcher. Au lieu de nous aider, ils étaient surtout préoccupés par le paiement des bouteilles d’eau et par le fait que nous fassions le check-out le plus rapidement possible.
De plus, lorsque nous avons demandé une ambulance, ils insistaient pour que nous quittions la chambre alors que nous traversions une situation très délicate et potentiellement dangereuse

Location is really the only good part. I was not impressed with the quality of Anna Suites. It is an older hotel next to the main Arena Ipanema that was purchased probably more recently and has not undergone a renovation. It felt kind of abandoned and gloomy. Lobby smelled like mold. The drapes in my room had mildew spots. The cleanliness was also subpar. The separate entrance from the main hotel is also a bit inconvenient.
Didn’t match the pictures at all. Much lower quality finishes. The service was lackluster at best. The staff barely cared to be there. For the price I paid, I felt like I got scammed to be completely honest. It really felt like I paid double what it was worth.
