The location is good in terms of centrality to shops, restaurants and cultural activities. The room was tastefully designed as is the commons area of the lobby / lounge and restaurant. The floor plan and furnishings are well organized. I love the fact that a clothing steamer is in the room (best way to de-wrinkle clothing). The slippers and bathrobe are also appreciated. On the first morning (but not thereafter) a basket of fruit , cheese and pastry is left outside the door. Nice touch! The vanity desk is very useful and attractive, and the "ring" lighting is quite flattering. There is also a full size mirror which is very useful, and a decent about of space for clothes and luggage. The bed and the pillows are very comfortable and feel cloud-like. The shower has decent water pressure and the bathroom is well equipped (except for the poor amount of hooks). The valet parking set up is very convenient and the valet staff as well as the front desk staff are excellent. I also had an excellent experience with the concierge (Kaitlyn) whose assistance more than made up for any glitches of the overall hotel experience.
Precisely because it is so central better soundproofing should be provided so that one doesn't have to hear the street noise so clearly from the room. The walls are also fairly thin so if you happen to have a neighbor (as I did) who doesn't understand how to speak in a normal volume voice or how to avoid constantly banging up against the shared wall, you will suffer as a result.
The bathroom only had one hook (on which the bathrobe was hung) so there are no handy places to hang your towel or clothes when showering. Odd.
The outlet at the vanity desk is so close to the desk top that you can not plug in certain kinds of electronics (like my Dyson hair straightener) because the plug is too bulky and runs up against the desk top. These details should be more thoughtfully designed -- just an inch more of height above the desk surface would have made all the difference.
The television remote control is probably the cheapest one on the market, which is surprising for a "nicer" hotel. The buttons stick or are otherwise non-responsive. It takes forever to bring up the guide, change a channel, adjust the volume -- these things should not be so time consuming, and with a better remote control they wouldn't be. The coffee pot is not so easy to do correctly even though there are instructions provided. It would be nice to have an espresso making option or at least speedier coffee room service. This is minor, but the door sign indicating that you want room service or want to be left alone is all monochromatic brown in color, so it can not be easily read from a distance. I am not sure if that is related to the fact that someone knocked on our door despite the fact that we had the do not disturb option faced outward, but from a design perspective, it doesn't make sense for these signs to be so hard to read from any distance (we had to hold it up to our face to make sure we understood which side was which).
Wonderful hotel. ZACK is the man! Great front desk experience.
This hotel had everything….rooftop bar, friendly service, beautiful room! Would return in a heartbeat and have already recommended to family and friends. Spot on central location.
Do not come to Asheville. I would encourage any family to go elsewhere.
Not what I expected! Super noisy ! Big enough room but not even having a decent space to hang clothes. No place to hang wet towels. Lousy water pressure. Breakfast Basket was in paper bag and the biggest disappointment. Roof top bar was closed!!!!
Asheville itself is the perfect solo travel destination — walkable, full of character, and has an energy that makes you feel completely at ease on your own. Already counting down to my next visit.
Excellent stay…. Only issues were noise from street and no room safe
Great staff and ambiance….need one more character to add to review!
The Restoration Asheville is very well appointed.
The service was exceptional, excellent staff…especially Anna.
Location, Location, Location
Nice rebuild of old bank location. Art deco revival, large room. Self parking for $12/day in clean sage feeling public garage very close to back entrance of hotel. Very pleasant service and welcome. Had simple very good dinner at the bar. A little breakfast with truly fresh fruit comes in a little picnic paper bag outside your room door.
Wholefoods with charging in parking lot just a few minutes away
Incredible from start to finish. It’s the kind of hotel where you don’t even feel the need to lift the sheets to check for bed bugs. While most hotels hide the filtered water and make you buy a 10 cent bottle of deer park for $15, they offered complimentary filtered still and sparkling water throughout our stay, a stocked minibar with free non-alc bevys.
Each morning, they left a beautiful breakfast basket at our door filled with fresh food and fruit. The valet service was reasonably priced, and the staff were genuinely wonderful. We were able to bring our dog for a small fee, and they even spoiled him with treats every day.
The suite was spotless, spacious, and featured an incredibly comfortable bed. The lobby coffee was excellent, and the kids loved the arcade night where games were free to play. They also accommodated our very late check-in with kindness and professionalism.
10/10 — I would absolutely love to come back.
This is a beautiful hotel with fantastic attention to detail in design and significant offerings for leisure within the hotel. The food and drinks at the restaurant and bars were excellent. The breakfast basket is a quant idea but came late in the morning and was weak. The coffee in the room was fantastic but no complementary coffee in the lobby despite there being a clearly designated location for it. The coffee shop seemed to have a great offerings but seemed to have some management issues. The arcade was delightful and such unique and well-done feature. We would have loved to utilize the rooftop terrace and bar - one of the reasons we chose this hotel for our trip - but it was restricted for a wedding both days. The rooms was gorgeous and well-appointed, though the mattresses were quite firm. The fact that the Watchmen restaurant space was kept open for guests to utilize as a work or reading space during the day was lovely. All in all, we will definitely try this hotel again, they just need to make mornings run more smoothly and match the level of attention given to other areas.
We spent 2 nights - a premier king suite - it was a lovely room. Modern; well equipped; kept spotlessly clean.
The staff were very nice and helpful - particularly the valet team - spot on with their service.
Unfortunately we didn’t gel with the vibes of this hotel - it was purportedly converted from commercial premises (a bank I believe) which meant it was not built with hotel use in mind - absence of inviting custom-built reception and guest relaxation areas.
There was no cosy feel to the seating areas so the afternoon wine and snacks service (included in the day rate) was almost a grab-and-consume affair. Rather than serving from the bar area - the service was ad-hoc arrangement from the cafe counter behind the lifts.
Similarly the included breakfast was simple cold fare - bagged and dropped unannounced at the suite door at 08:00hrs. Even the prior agreed request for an early pick-up from reception at 07:30hrs was unfulfilled.
I believe that not including both the afternoon wine and morning breakfast bag - with a commensurate rate reduction - would make better value proposition).
Finishing this review on an upside, the hotel is easy to access from the main highway - and easily walkable to some very good restaurants.
Beautiful property with luxury amenities provided by outstanding staff. What a treat! Our room had a balcony overlooking the park. Breakfast baskets delivered both days were excellent. In room coffee maker and beverage/snack choices excellent. Bathroom and shower plus luxury robes. We really enjoyed relaxing Saturday morning!
This is our go-to hotel when in Asheville. This was a very hard trip, we were spending time with our Uncle who was in hospice care. We didn't know how long we would be in town. The staff was so caring, comforting and accommodating! We had to change rooms because our double room was booked for a wedding. They took GREAT care of us! Zack, Leighla, and Julia were front desk ANGELS, and Rick and Matt were always there with a caring word and open door when taking care of the multiple times we needed the car in and out! We really felt taken care of during our time of need, and we will be forever thankful! Will be back to enjoy Asheville, and The Restoration is our forever stay!
The Restoration Asheville delivered an amazing experience across the board. The room and bathroom as beautiful, spacious, and well designed as well as immaculate. The front desk and concierge staff were wonderful and always had good recommendations. The hotel offers transport in a comfortable Jeep to anywhere nearby, which makes short trips to a restaurant or galleries very convenient and easy. The complimentary breakfast baskets each morning always offered a nice treat (even though we went out to breakfast every morning to try different parts of Asheville's food scene). The Rise coffee downstairs was the best we had in Nashville. The location is also very convenient to nearly everything downtown.
Stayed for a couple of nights for spring break. Room was on the 4th floor and while there was no road noise, our neighbors didn't take note of the posted "quiet hours" plus the walls must be very thin, so we busted out a travel-size white noise sound machine for the second half of our stay (highly recommend) to get some decent sleep. Valet service was excellent, worth the additional $30/day but the hotel's location makes it very easy to access many shops and restaurants on foot. Area felt safe despite some potheads and some pan-handling, overall the area has a mellow vibe ;) Complimentary breakfast baskets were a nice daily treat, supplemented by a quick coffee run to the lobby coffee shop. Complimentary water bottles were handy too - hotel rooms tend to run dry. Daily complimentary happy hour was a nice touch too - allowing for a nice break in the day to make evening plans. Rooms were comfortable, clean and well appointed. Only negative (and kind of being a stickler here) was that housekeeping seemed a bit hasty - didn't replenish/clean the in-room coffee maker after our first morning, and the left dust cloths in our room on 2 days. Would definitely stay here again & recommend to others.
This was our second stay at The Restoration Asheville. We stayed there the 26th and 27th of December. It is a great location and the staff is best! Elton, Ian and Jason took such good care of us as well as Neal and Seth. Such good care that we will be visiting again for our 50th anniversary in a few days. Can’t wait to be back, they make us feel special!
Stayed at The Restoration in Asheville for a weekend getaway from Atlanta and it exceeded expectations across the board.
The location is ideal. We were able to walk just about everywhere downtown, which made the whole trip feel effortless. The only time we needed the car was for a day trip to Biltmore.
One of the highlights was The Draftsman downstairs. It’s not just a bar, it’s an experience. Two cozy bowling lanes, skeeball, and Golden Tee made it a fun, relaxed spot to hang out at night. On top of that, having two other dining and drink options inside the hotel was incredibly convenient.
What really stood out, though, was the staff. Every single interaction was excellent. Valet, front desk, food and beverage team, everyone was genuinely friendly, attentive, and helpful. It felt like they actually cared about making the stay great.
If you’re planning a trip to Asheville and want something central, comfortable, and a little more fun than your average hotel, this is an easy recommendation.
