Do not book this hotel using Amex Fine Hotels Resorts!
Pros:

Warning: Do not book this hotel using the Amex Fine Hotels / Resorts program! They do not honor the benefits outlined including the early/late check ins or outs, free breakfast, and there certainly weren't any upgrades even though the hotel was not nearly at capacity during December in Minneapolis.

It's an OK hotel overall, the bar is really nice and the room had a great view of....north Minneapolis. But it felt like a bait and switch using the Amex FHR program and getting none of the promised benefits

Shady and Hidden Costs at the Spa
Pros:

We stayed at the Four Seasons Minneapolis this past weekend, and while the hotel itself was wonderful, I had a disappointing experience with the spa’s pricing transparency.

When I called to book my massage, I was quoted the base price of $225. I knew an automatic gratuity would be added, but my final charge came to $328.68, which didn’t make sense based on gratuity alone.

Nothing was mentioned during the phone booking about dynamic pricing, a 2% staff fee, an 18% provider fee, or the additional taxes. The next day, we went back to the spa to ask about the discrepancy, and the staff explained that the price can change depending on how “in demand” a specific massage style is or how busy the spa is on that day. If a lot of people want the deep tissue that day, they upcharge you!!!

For a brand like Four Seasons, this level of price fluctuation without upfront disclosure feels misleading. Guests shouldn’t have to discover hidden fees or shifting prices after the fact.

The massage itself was great, but the lack of transparency overshadowed the experience. If you plan to book here, make sure to confirm the actual final price before scheduling.

Our top hotel pick for visiting Minneapolis
Pros:

The Four Seasons Minneapolis is an excellent property.

I booked this reservation through a Four Seasons Preferred Partner travel agent, and we were able to take advantage of an amazing rate with the Four Seasons third-night-free offer, which made the per-night cost of this stay (before taxes) just $330. When you book through the FS Preferred Partner program, you get free breakfast for two each day (up to $80) and a property credit (usually $100 for a regular room). You also are prioritized for upgrades, and our room was upgraded from a regular king-size bed room to a river-view executive corner suite, which had simply stunning views of Target Field, up the Mississippi River, and the Hennepin Avenue Bridge. The room had floor to ceiling windows, including in the bathroom, which really enhanced the view, and closing the blinds was just a push-button or two away.

We had breakfast each morning at Mara, the hotel's main restaurant, and it was great, with a large variety of offerings, including delicious-looking pastries that they torture you with by making you walk by them on your way to the table.

This was our first time booking a Four Seasons property through a Preferred Partner travel agent, and we would definitely do it again and again in the future. The welcome letter we received at check-in contained a mistake (in our favor, as they say) explaining that our property credit was $200. We learned at check-out that it should have instead said $100, since that's the credit for booking a regular room through an FS Preferred Partner. (Folks who book into a suite through a Preferred Partner travel agent get the $200 credit.) But since we had used up the promised $200 credit on property, the hotel applied the full amount promised in the welcome letter against our bill at check-out, which was certainly the way to ensure a very happy customer.

Before concluding this review, I must say a word or two about the exquisite Chef's Table dining experience at the hotel's Mara restaurant thanks to Chefs Thony Yang and Kenzie Ross. It was one of our top dining experiences ever.

The hotel is also quite centrally located, within walking distance of many of Minneapolis's downtown attractions. It of course didn't hurt for purposes of walking around that one day during our mid-November stay it reached a high temperature of 72 degrees F.

Four Seasons properties can be very expensive to visit. But good deals certainly do exist. Here we obtained an upgrade to an approximately $800/night room on a reservation for a room at $330/night thanks to the third-night-free promo, and then thanks to the Preferred Partner benefits obtained an additional $340 (or, in our case, actually $440) in food/beverage credits on site.

We will definitely keep this property at the top of our list when visiting Minneapolis.

Upscale Minneapolis
Pros:

Had a nice one night stay here on a visit for a wedding. Check in process was quick and friendly. You’re in a rush to get to the wedding and they offered to take our luggage upstairs so we could take off. Room was comfortable & clean. We had a drink at the restaurant tomorrow on the main floor between the wedding and the reception. Service was a little slow and inattentive at the restaurant but I don’t think they are associated with each other so I will give that a separate rating.

Great home base for a football weekend!
Pros:

We stayed at this property for a long weekend and the hotel is stunning. Reception, lobby, lobby bar and rooms are all beautifully designed. Our room was well appointed, comfortable and appropriate for a Four Seasons. King bed and linens were super-comfortable. The bathroom had a spacious walk in shower, separate WC and large vanity. We also used the spa and had fantastic massages. Our group hosted a happy hour in the bar and the food and service were exceptional. I have food allergies and the staff was very informed. The hotel is a few blocks from the Mississippi River and we enjoyed the river trail one morning.

This is the perfect place to rest, relax and recharge. Location A+
Pros:

Everyone from arrival to leaving the hotel was awesome, from check in to valet to bellmen to the staff around the hotel. The hotel is incredibly beautiful. The facilities are clean and well managed. I used the pool, gym, sauna, steam and hot tub every day. The food was excellent and the staff was attentive and on top of it. I will always stay here from now on.

Absolutely incredible in every way!
Pros:

What a spectacular experience all around. The hotel is amazing but what really stood out was the incredible customer service. Every single person I interacted with - from the front desk, to the restaurant staff, to the spa therapists and spa front desk team were absolutely super. The location is wonderful for exploring and the rooms are also very well done and super clean. Gold starts to this dream team - blew me away (and I am really hard to please!)

Disappointing Four Season stay
Pros:

What started out very promising quickly turned into a disappointing and frustrating stay. My sister and I traveled to Minneapolis with my 12 year old nephew and his friend to see the NFL game. As it was a birthday present, we wanted to have it be a special few days- hence staying at the Four Seasons. Prior to our arrival I spoke to the concierge around our upcoming stay and she was lovely. Upon check in the boys room had baskets and balloons, which was so thoughtful and the views in both rooms were beautiful. It was soon after that that it went downhill. Room service was inconsistent and often times bordering on rude. Traveling with 12 year old boys requests such as American cheese for the burger, or a smaller burger as the adult size was huge were met with responses such as “we don’t have American cheese, the hotel is used to more elevated palates” or “no we can’t make a child’s cheeseburger.” I had called prior to booking to ensure the hotel was the right fit for traveling with 12 year olds and assured that it absolutely was. Service for breakfast in the restaurant one morning was dismissive with the waiter not speaking 2 words to us and when we asked for a slightly bigger table in the empty dining room was told this is the only section open. We had booked a stadium tour the first afternoon there, was going to take an uber but the hotel offered the van to take us to the stadium. We explained we needed to be there by a certain time and was assured no problem, it would only be a few minutes. After 20 minutes we had to go over and ask if it would be much longer as we were going to be late. The response was”we can’t control how fast the van comes back.” We quickly ordered an uber and just made it in time. No apologies or acknowledgement of this. The next day after a long day at the game, we got back to the rooms at 4:45. Neither room had been cleaned and they were just starting on the first room. Extra towel requests were met with the response of “ how many towels do you have?” Requests for ice water with room service was responded to by saying “you have ice and water in the tool, you want more ice water?” I spoke to multiple people through the stay all who were very apologetic but unfortunately with very little change during despite what I believe were best intentions.
I have stayed at other Four Seasons as well as other hotels in the Minneapolis area, and this has never been my experience. We had a great trip, but it was despite our hotel stay rather than because of it. None of the issues in and of themselves were terrible but all combined, made the hotel experience unpleasant. I was disappointed for the boys as had told them what a special hotel it was and how friendly everyone is. Neither of those things were apparent during our stay.
