The swimming pool was not clean and no one seemed to be using it
There was a drain in our washroom which didn’t have a cover, cockroach crept in from that
It rained the night we were in sigiriya. There was one spot on the roof of our room from where rainwater was dripping. Luckily it was not on top of the bed or any other furniture so it didn’t cause us any discomfort but it will help if such leakages are checked and sealed

I wouldn't stay more than one night here for a few reasons. I don't share this to be negative but just to help others make an informed choice about their stay!

- The family room floors are quite dirty. There is old bird / bat poo in patches all over the floors. It looked old / like it had been there for a while which made us question how thoroughly the rooms were cleaned.

- There was a bat in one of the rooms flying around upon entry which we had to capture in a bucket ourselves. One of the staff members released it back outside after. You are in the middle of nowhere so to some extent it can't be helped, but it sounded like there were more in the ceiling which made for a slightly uncomfortable night.

- The restaurant is quite an uncomfortable experience. Super bright white lights and cold. Felt clinical.

- For breakfast, it's a set menu (we weren't aware). As vegetarians, I think they had to improvise last minute as we received noodles (which we'd had eaten for dinner the night before), plain rice (a generous portion but with nothing to eat with it), toast and fruit.

- One of our rooms wouldn't lock. There were no staff around early morning and no way to contact anyone, so we had to leave it and trust no-one would enter.

The 'pods' were a cross between a hotel room and 'glamping'! Fine if you're OK with that, but they were a bit tatty around the edges, particularly the bathrooms. The breakfast was poor. When you arrive, you think you're in a builders yard; they should screen off ongoing building/maintenance work.

- The wifi weak and unstable
- The restaurant is dated no atmosphere or music
- Building work going on, which is obviously to improve the property but was very loud when trying to relax by the pool
- Our tv in our room was in Chinese, a member of staff did come and have a look but then told us there was an issue with the sound, so we could watch but not listen. He did say he could try and replace it but we were shattered at that point and just wanted to go to bed.
- We asked if we could eat our dinner outside as the restaurant was not very nice we were told no your not allowed but then the next day 3 men turned up and were allowed to eat outside.
- There was someone’s underwear just left by the pool
- The plug by the bed didn’t work
- The mirror in bathroom was a light up mirror by a button, but this also didn’t work
- Staff were sometimes a bit rude, we stood at the bar to get a drink, there was no staff members there and a lady behind reception just shouted over at us “what do you want” - have had much better service in our other accommodations

The floors were rather dirty - take house shoes with to protect your feet/socks. That was like that in every place we stayed in Sri Lanka though.
They were building during the time we were there so there was quite some noise but I’m sure it will be very idyllic once that’s done.
It’s a plus and a minus that it’s not that close to the restaurants in Sigiriya so you’ll need to take tuktuks every time you go for dinner.

Geen slechte ervaringen

Niet gelijk iets wat ons niet beviel, maar het ligt iets buiten Sigiriya zelf, waardoor het soms wat lastiger was (vooral s’avonds) om terug te komen.

Was down a long track so out the way of everywhere so had to get transport everywhere rather than walking

The pool was not clean unfortunately
