We got the whole house Japanese style. Very clean and cozy. Special credits to pillows - best sleep ever!
The hotel is not the middle of busy area - you have to walk about 15 minutes.
Pro tip - if you order a breakfast order one for each person. Hotel stuff told us that one order for two people is more than enough - so maybe we were just hungry and it's not an American size of dish.

Beautifully designed hotel with so many great touches. The staff were exceptional & every detail thought about. It was very easy to get an uber just walking 2min. We loved having breakfast in our room - delicious Western breakfast. Our room had so much space with a desk plus dining table making it very comfortable & the view over the river was wonderful.

We stayed at Genji on our honeymoon and it was our absolute favorite place we stayed.
Beautiful hotel all around! A balance of aesthetics and functionality as well as a mix of Japanese and western design.
The staff was amazing - very welcoming and attentive. One thing that stood out to me is that I bought a little toy cat from a gacha machine and had it sitting out on the counter. The next morning at breakfast, the kitchen staff had added foam art to my cappuccino depicting the cat. I found so sweet and such a great representation of the attention to detail and thoughtfulness.
This is not a negative but just a note: the location is a bit further from the main areas on most tourist itineraries (Pontocho Alley, Gion, etc.) but has great subway connectivity to those areas. Also this is a great location if you plan to take day trips out of Kyoto station. The hotel is right on the river in a quiet neighborhood with local charm. One thing we loved is the sento Umeya just a couple minutes walk away.

Breakfast in the room was incredible. But the layout of the space was surprisingly modern and traditional at the same time. I really loved the Quadruple Room. Its a gem.
had an exceptional stay here. the room was impeccable and the hotel is as good as the reviews say
shout out to the staff as well for the wonderful service and special compliments to Eri-san who helped me so much along the way. also special mention to Ryo-san and Rino-san for helping me out on the first day with my missing passport
the only minus might be that the hotel isn't on the main road so it isn't accessible at the door step by vehicles
