I stayed at The Tahiti Beach Hotel, 92A Tran Hung Dao, Phu Quoc, Vietnam, and had one of the worst experiences ever with a hotel.
After checking out, the staff demanded 200,000 VND compensation because a white towel had a light makeup stain — something totally normal after wiping the face. Instead of handling this with basic hospitality, they treated it like a crime. I had to argue, and finally washed the towel by hand myself, and the stain completely disappeared.
Yet they still insisted we were damaging their property.
Let me be clear: towels are meant to be used. Minor stains like makeup are part of everyday use and should be handled by the hotel’s laundry service. That’s what hotels are for. This was an outrageous attempt to squeeze extra money from guests.
Worse, there was no prior notice or policy about this. Are guests expected to inspect every towel for marks before using it?
This hotel clearly prioritizes money over customer service, and what should have been a relaxing experience turned into an uncomfortable and confrontational one.
Avoid this hotel at all costs if you care about being treated fairly and respectfully.
Arrived last night for a ,28 day stay. We booked a balcony poolside view. on arrival we we're told we had to change rooms from a room with one bed and view if car park to a garden view. We did book a room with 2 beds. We spent all year looking forward to this trip. So far I'm disappointed.
Great pace to stay. Would go back again
OUR VACATION WAS RUINED BECAUSE OF THIS GREEDY DODGY HOTEL
We booked 6 rooms for 720.000vnd/night through Agoda. Then hotel initiated a cancellation from my end. They then said the price was an error and too low for them. With a sympathy and understanding, we discussed and agreed with new price of 1.100.000vnd/night. However, few days later, Taihiti messaged me again saying this is an error and they have no room for us??? They pushed us to another 3 star but old/rundown/ugly/cheap hotel that looks like a ghost house to me. When I checked google and all booking sites, Taihiti still has availability on those days, but with a way higher price (of course because it’s only 3 weeks till our stay). Looks like they want to cancel us out so they can sell those rooms out for higher price. We are now in limbo with nowhere to stay and only few weeks till our trip. This is so greedy, dodgy, unprofessional, unethical and unfair business conduct. If every business can do this, what planning and booking in advance is for? Agoda was useless, all they did were apology and offered to find another room. If I could, I wish to leave -5* seriously
It was my first time here at Tahiti Beach. The restaurant options in the surrounding area was great, very delicious food and Vietnamese coffee options. The room and bathroom was wonderful, air conditioning and shower was excellent. Access to the beach was less than 5 minutes walk and there were faucets out front to rinse off your feet if you don’t want to track sand. Grocery stores were ample if you need basic necessities. The spa option for the hotel was also very nice, probably one of the best massage therapists I’ve be encountered yet, she was really good at finding knots and very professional; nothing unexpected, felt safe, and allowed me to actually just doze off. The spa also had a hair washing option, was surprised they did cold water at first, but used warm water after the initial hair wetting. She really exfoliated my scalp and used a spray that helped soften my hair. I would like to go back and stay longer next time.
Hotel stay was better than we expected. Lovely, helpful staff, but little English spoken but google translate made communication good. They were finishing the pool bar/restaurant which we only got to use on the last day of our visit. Very large bedrooms with lots of storage.
This hotel has an okay pool and there is a beach nearby. These are about the only positives. Breakfast left a lot to be desired with not a great deal of choice. Staff didn’t speak to you unless they were trying to sell you a taxi that would be double the going rate on ‘grab’. Kitchen staff were more friendly/approachable. Didn’t sleep well at all either due to endless shouting and noise at all hours. This is obviously not the staffs fault but do feel they should intervene when guests are ruining other paying guests’ stays. Does seem an abundance of better hotels in the area which are even closer to the beach than this hotel. I would stay here again if I had to, but next time I’m in phu quoc I will be looking elsewhere.
My family ecently visited Tahiti Beach Hotel and was delighted by the beautiful surroundings and well-maintained facilities. However, I encountered challenges in communicating with the staff, as they seemed less friendly and not as approachable as I would have expected. Despite this, the overall experience was enjoyable due to the picturesque location and comfortable amenities.
After being let down by another company we found Tahiti hotel who gave us 3 rooms on the day, the scenery and atmosphere are brilliant, 3 restaurants all within a minute walk of the hotel and right near the high street if you fancy something different.
Rooms were kept tidy and all the staff are very friendly and attentive!
Hotel with good location and many guests. This turned out to be an issue since the staff was not able to handle check in etc. efficiently.
We did not get the room with a balcony that we had booked, but in the end it turned out quite well anyhow.
Good selection for breakfast and nice little pool on roof top. Close to the beach and restaurants in the neighbourhood.
The bathtub was non functional, laundry bag is chargeable, soap and shampoo quality is very bad. Room service is horrible. Old bedsheets were wrapped during service. Reception staff is not very polite. Does not understand genuine miscommunication of there own. Would not recommend anyone to come here. The only good thing is the location that the beach is nearby. Their cab transport is 150000 VND. Take a grab taxi it will be cheaper
This was superb - we initially booked for a couple of nights but stayed for over a week. Perfect location to travel the island and perfect hotel. Rooms are lovely, clean and well thought out. Hotel is clean and tidy a stones throw from the best beach to watch the sunset. Staff were superb ! My only criticism is the airport transfer didn’t arrive to pick us up when we arrived !!! Just use grab/taxi as more reliable and this hotel doesn’t have its own beach area, this doesn’t detract from the perfect stay though .
This property was ideal for our one week stay as the sun ☀️ was shining and all we wanted was just a pool 🏊♀️ and sun bed
Staff on arrival were pleasant and our room was a brisk walk away from the main building in B block on the ground floor which was nice and the room was clean & tidy
We did have issues with the TV and remote control and these were sorted but the room was very tired and certain elements need to be addressed as Towels were old and threadbare plus lights did not work 😒
Breakfast was not 4 Star ⭐️ we went just one day as it was a walk to the main building and lift to the dining room but the options on offer were not great Sorry to say I’m not wanting Spaghetti Carbonara. Braised Beef or Pho Soup for breakfast - The Egg station was passable but not really geared up for the European guest unless you want sweet sliced bread toasted
Lastly the pool 🏊♀️ area was nice to relax and the water was spotless but all the wooden sun beds were broken or pieces of wood missing and zero mattress making the bed very uncomfortable 😣 to relax
This property could be upgraded with little investment as in new linens , towels , sun-beds and maybe taking a look at your guest and asking what would be nice at breakfast would give you the answers
Overall 6/10 for our stay
The rooms are large with aircon minibar and other amenities. The breakfast buffet is lovely and caters to many tastes. The hotel has a lovely pool, is within walking distance to the beach and 2kms from the market. The staff are lovely and friendly and the grounds and the hotel are immaculately maintained. Great value for money and I would not hesitate to stay there or recommend it to friends and family
Great hotel, great place to stay. Room is cleaned and neath. Walkable distance to the beach. Really close to the night market. Ocean view room is great. The receptionist is really really helpful. I am asking where to have vegan food, they should me a superb great place nearby ❤️❤️
Wow wow wow..
