Communal Room, Parlor in Loft!?!?!? What is this? Definitely NOT a guest room.

I stayed at Element Irvine before, nice clean studio king room, good one nighter. Supposedly I would have the same room accommodation this time, particularly since I have ‘status’ with Marriott, unfortunately I was checked in this WEIRD, made up “room category” COMMUNAL ROOM, PARLOR IN LOFT WITH SOFA BED.

Do NOT book that “room” via Bonvoy or any other booking engine!!
It is an absolute scam!

The room is a kitchen with a pull out sofa in the middle of this large space, no closet or hangers for my clothes, no where to place my luggage so I had to open my bags in the floor, no the sofa bed they mention is the only thing in the room, there is NOT a bed, the pull out was set as a full size bed and the most uncomfortable and smelly made up bed I ever had… why?
I travel for work and drove for hours to have a decent night sleep.
When I asked the front desk to be moved to another room the answer was very simple, SORRY WE ARE SOLD OUT, I was so ready to move to another hotel in the middle of the night but I was so exhausted and it was so late that I just stayed and count the hours until I got out of there!!!!

There is a complaint, and reviews, and will continue giving my feedback because hotels know better!!!
Guest rooms must qualify as such, and this “room” is absolutely NOT a hotel guest room. MUST be removed from public inventory.

The worst part the charge FULL PRICE as it was a normal room, my company pays for it but that doesn’t mean I have to suck it up!

Booked a Marriott, checked into a seafood restaurant.
Pros:

My room (and all of my clothes) absorbed the full aroma of another guest cooking fish and broccoli. The smell was so strong the room was unlivable—problematic when you have business meetings the next day and would prefer not to smell like dinner.

Staff initially claimed the room was checked, then later admitted it wasn’t. No alternate rooms, no cleaning staff available, and no real solution—so I had no choice but to leave.

If you’re a business traveler or prefer your hotel room not double as a kitchen, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
