For a 3* hotel The Grove offered a warm welcome and good size rooms and breakfast. Staff were professional and friendly

Pros:

The location is walkable to the town centre, gardens and beach. The room and inside the hotel are clean a fresh. When not in the room there are also common areas with modern leather lounges, tv, sun room and garden facilities.

Did this used to be a home for the elderly? It still felt like it in certain areas, lots of slopes & red pull chords

Excellent location and value for money.
Pros:

The hotel was good value for money, the rooms were large, quiet and exceptionally clean. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the 24 hour bar was a real bonus. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Cons:

The hotel building is quite old and in places looks a little tired and in need of decoration (there was a large damp patch in our bathroom).

A lovely hotel, simple and clean
Pros:

It was immaculate. Such a lovely surprise to find an historic hotel right in the middle of town. I loved the pine trees in the garden. Fantastic breakfast. Excellent staff. Great to have a bar and pool table!

Cons:

Nescafé sachets in the rooms are just awful. I love a morning coffee but wouldn’t drink that.
No hairdryer in the room, and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work, despite me being shown the switch, then putting into ‘on’.
The bed was quite short, which I wasn’t expecting. The mattress isn’t flat, and sagged on the right hand side of the bed. (Rm 29)
