We would use this hotel again.
Pros:

Location was brilliant for us as we were going from dover to dunkirk, we only stayed 1x night; so everything was good for us.

Pros:

The single most friendly group of people we came across the whole trip. Rarely are the accommodations such a highlight, but the Royal Oak was fantastic.

As long as you are aware it's an old English pub, there are no real faults.

Pros:

Comfortable room in old pub.
Clean room, excellent large shower room, comfy bed and a hearty and freshly cooked full English breakfast.
Staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful and made us a delightful pizza despite our late arrival on a night when they do not normally serve food.
Free parking.
Would happily stay again.

Pros:

Bed was comfy, bar maid was very pleasant

Cons:

It was extremely small, and the stairs are very narrow, I know its an old building but it wasnt stated on website, as a disabled lady I found it very difficult. Parking was hard too

Very pleasant.
Pros:

Location was good and staff were very helpful.

Cons:

A little noisy from the pub during the evening but it was quiet by 11. Internet was a bit sporadic.

Pros:

We stayed on 20th March and again on 23rd March. (We had ferry crossings from dover to Calais return) Our stay on 20th was great, dealt with staff member who was great and very accomodating when booking evening meal. On our return on 23rd, i rang ahead to book a table for food 7.30pm but was told they had stopped serving. Lady on the phone was a bit rude , said by the time she put the ovens on again to heat up it would be too late. I get it but i'm sure she could have offered us a sandwich or easy alternative but it was obvious she just wanted to get off the phone. Because of that we chose not to spend our money on drinks in their pub that evening.

Very good stay and would stay again if in the area

The staff were very friendly

Cons:

There was a mistake when booking and two rooms instead of one was booked. It was clearly a mistake, the hotel knew I was travelling alone but refuse to pay back for the unused room. The manager and owner seem not to want to discuss it. I would NEVER stay there again as I feel robbed.
