Perfect location to the Pearl and Crystal ballroom.
Loved our corner room and the turn table.
Miss the Aces bar, but the coffee was delicious.
Great location with lots of restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The aesthetic and feel of the hotel is cozy in an awesome old building, with a vintage design that continues to the rooms. Competitive prices and an overall great value.
I routinely stay at the Clyde when visiting Portland, and part of the reason I find myself returning again and again is because of the combination of Bohemian, bunker design, exceptionally helpful and friendly staff, and generally good vibes for writing. It is such a welcome environment, uncluttered and conducive to deep concentration, repeat with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plus, it is conveniently located near so many things you would want to walk to in downtown Portland. Excellent restaurants, the fantastic art museum, and it’s just one block over from Palace city of Books, one of the most iconic bookstores in the world. Really the ideal stay.
Wonderful all around. Relaxing, low key, old school hotel. I’m so happy to see that it hasn’t changed with the switch of ownership. Excellent customer service. I accidentally booked my trip one day short and didn’t realize it until I was notified to check out. I panicked and contacted the hotel. They were able to extend my stay an extra day in the same room. Will absolutely be back.
I made a booking on an app for this hotel.
I am in an emergency situation escaping DV and SA.
When I went to check in they said the date was wrong.
I asked the person at the desk for help to change the date to the right booking. They said they couldn't do that and to use the app. I tried and the app wouldn't let me.
The person at the desk got frustrated and told me to leave and that I was trespassed from the premises for asking them to do their job.
The app wouldn't let me cancel, the booking and the hotel said it offers no refunds.
I am Disabled, homeless, abused and essentially had $500 stolen from this establishment, which has made me have to sleep on the street for a week.
WHEN I PAID FOR A PLACE TO STAY HERENEVER STAY HERE - THEY ARE BIGOTS AND THIEVES.
This hotel is amazing! The whole front desk team are incredible. Ashley was incredibly accommodating and made sure we were taken care of during our stay. The manager, Crosby, was phenomenal. She made sure we had a truly memorable stay! Highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Portland.
I had a horrible interaction with a hotel staff person there. She had hate in her heart and on her face. I didn’t enjoy being mistreated by an employee at the Clyde. Separately, there was no hot water for the entire stay and she was most certainly unapologetic.
The neighborhood is sketchy and security there is nonexistent. I don’t recommend the Portland Clyde by Kasa.
Feels like a hostel. No front desk, security, or housekeeping presence feels a bit eerie and unsafe. There is keypad entry to both the building and rooms.
The tv didn’t work, shower head in my room was mounted ridiculously low and after a 16-hour day I found that there was no hot water and they didn’t know when it would be back on. I walked to another hotel at 9pm and stayed elsewhere so I could simply take a hot shower. Won’t stay here again or recommend it. The photos and online presence are much nicer than the actual property.
What a gem! Fun, funky boutique hotel. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Loved all the little details in the room including beverages, white noise machine, claw foot bath tub, spacious room, and tokens to use at the adjacent coffee shop. Easy walking distance to great places in downtown Portland including Powell’s Book Store. Close by options for secure parking garages. Easy check in/out process. Building is secure after 10pm - use of a unique code gets you in at night.
Great place, clean room, and relatively safe area of downtown. Ashley at the front desk was super kind and got me checked in hours early so I didn’t have to wait!!
Beautiful Hotel. A blast from the past in the heart of Portland OR. Hotel staff are amazing to work with. Parking on 12 Street was easy too.
Take your parking ticket with you and scan your ticket at the Whole Foods Market for a big discount on the parking fee. Great food.
This place was the best for our little date night. Super cute room, and very easy to get in and out and feel like you have your own little privacy. It was amazing.
Amazing location for young travelers. It's right in the downtown area and close to a lot of attractions in the city. Self check-in was very easy and staff were available for you at the front desk which is very convenient. We had the King Suite and oh boy! What an amazing stay! Very pleasant smell down the hallway and into the room. Bath tub was clean, living room was huge, bed was comfortable and the view of the city was spectacular! The cafe attached to the hotel was very convenient for a to-go morning coffee and pastry. Lobby area was huge and play room was an easy access for guests waiting. I would definitely recommend booking here if you're up for an adventure!
Great
Unfriendly staff who seemed annoyed when asked for common amenities like ice.
My partner requested a bottle of champagne be in the room when booking and received a confirmation from staff they would be able to accommodate his gratis. No bottle was in the room on check in.
My car was broken into across the street and when I asked the attendant if they had cameras for filing the police report their response was "that's why we told you not to do street parking". A wholely unprofessional and unnecessary response not relevant to the question. I double checked my email confirmation and there was no mention about avoiding street parking. Only that they recommended a garage down the way.
The room was bare bones yet serviceable. Double the salary of your photographer because they portrayed the rooms as much warmer and more inviting than they were in reality.
The lobby had a chic vibe and nice styling. Two tokens were provided in lieu of coffee options in the room or the lobby. These tokens offered a discount at the adjoining coffee shop which had great coffee. Yet we had two people for two nights and it didn't substitute for basic amenities.
Would not recommend. Pay a few bucks more and stay at the McMenamins down the road.
Totally enjoyed my stay at this quirky hotel. It was perfect for me in every way. It may not be for everyone, definitely not a cookie cutter hotel room, but I found it cozy. I enjoyed soaking in the clawfoot tub after a long day of traveling. The bed was comfortable. The coffee shop attached to the lobby was good and very convenient. It was an easy walk to most things I planned to do and transportation options were easy to access when needed.
Front desk staff was not helpful and kind of rude.
I waffled between 3 and 4 stars, but landed on 3 because it's an "ok" place but not necessarily recommended.
I arrived late and there was only a security guard at the front desk, no hotel employees. That was fine as I had a code to get into the lobby and unlock my room. But if a traveler arrived after hours and needed help, nobody in person.
There was a bad odor in the lobby which continued through the hallways and into my room. So no way I could give 5 stars to any hotel with an ongoing unpleasant odor.
My room was large with a sectional sofa, a big cushion on the floor (for what?), a long narrow desk, king bed, and a narrow closet. The private bathroom was obviously added as it was enclosed by unpainted wood and only had a toilet and shower. The sink was at the other end of the room so lots of back and forth. Towels were ok, water pressure and temperature was fine, soap and shampoo all good. However, the toilet was installed right up against a wall and the toilet paper holder was comically mounted high up where you reach your arm over your head to get TP. Definitely design geniuses! A normal person would have mounted the holder to the left of the toilet at the usual height.
The windows were large and controlled by shades that rolled up instead of down. The problem here was that the string (like a closeline) was frayed and wouldn't stay in the rolling track. It was impossible to raise them up or down without standing on furniture and manually keeping it on track. Anyone with limited mobility or unwilling to stand on the sofa or a chair to reach the ceiling is out of luck.
The bed was a platform, low to the ground, with a very firm mattress and soft pillows. The sheet and duvet cover was ok. It takes some skill to locate the light switches and figure out what they control.
A unique feature was a record player with a handful of old albums (nothing familiar). It's played through a radio/aux speaker on the night stand. I didn't watch the TV so not sure what channels or whether you could angle it to see from the bed.
I didn't ask about housekeeping although I saw a guy cleaning rooms along the hallway. Not mine, though. No cleaning, no fresh towels. That's fine, actually, although these days most hotels at least ask or tell you the policy.
The location was good and I found the city to be walkable. I even walked to the convention center which is across a bridge and about 1.5 miles away. Most sidewalks had unhoused people but not to the point where I felt unsafe. I took a bunch of Lyft rides (cheaper than Uber here) and there's public transportation as well.
The Clyde was less expensive than most other hotels in downtown for a good reason - no housekeeping, no front desk service after hours, unpleasant odor, old worn furniture, and not a restful or particularly convenient room and amenities.
Really nice hotel in a good location with great staff! The cardless entry for the rooms was great and worked like a charm!
This property was so charming and veautifully decorated. Had easy access and parking one block away. Food and shopping was all walkable distance. The rooms were perfectly small and had all amenities. LOVED the photobooth in the lobby also.
