High quality rooms very spacious
Nice relaxing stay. A little bit hard to get to, especially with luggage as the bus gets very crowded. No food options nearby (need to take the bus or a 20min walk along a narrow mountain road to nearest store) so make sure to bring some food if you plan to eat onsite.
Great staff service
We arrived the hotel around 10 pm and the reception who received us was rude and charged us more than we booked originally! The rooms does not have it’s own shower and this place is so dated and need the whole place to change. The reception might be the owner and should have training for customer service. Very rude and greedy with money!
Great for a retreat from the hussle and bussle of the city. If you want a quiet time surrounded by nature this is the place for you.
Great price and convenient location. The Japanese breakfast set was so delicious. Small onsen, but great views of Mount Fuji from our room!
While we had to figure out how to get there as backpackers, once we did….. the local bus stops just below the hotel….. we appreciated being away from the crowds. Downside is that when we didn’t chose dinner at the restaurant, there were ZERO other options nearby. We took the bus to a Lawsons just to find something to eat. The hotel is 70’s dated, but clean, and the room was Japanese style sweet. It’s what I’d expect for a lower end mountain inn.
Nice onsen with amazing staff. Very much enjoyed
Hakone is an onsen town in the mountains - because of this you need some driving skill to get through the endless winding roads that lead up to the hotel. There is parking on-site which is good, but it was difficult for me to locate the check-in office under the cover of darkness (about 20m further up the street from the parking area). The villa has a strong Showa-atmosphere - I chose this place since it was the last day of my trip and I wanted at least one traditional stay in a room with tatami mats, paper shoji doors, and futons. This is exactly what Trip7 is about - plus they only have public baths with a hot pool - which is exactly what I was looking for. Upon entering, you must remove your shoes and use the slippers provided while the staff give you a type of yukata to wear. The shoji doors let in a lot of light (and Japan doesn't use daylight savings) so I was woken by the sunrise at 4:45AM in June, but upon opening the shoji I was presented with a perfect sunrise view of Mt Fuji. In the morning the staff were nowhere to be seen so I left the key on the counter and slippers at the lockboxes as I had to rush to my appointment that day.
