The location
Unfortunately, Ecoland Hotel did not feel like a 5-star hotel at all. In our experience, it felt much closer to a 3-star property.
The room was very basic and felt quite empty, with very few amenities or thoughtful touches. We had a large balcony with a beautiful view, but the balcony itself looked old and in need of renovation. There was no outdoor furniture — no chairs or table — so despite its size and the beautiful view, there was really no way to sit outside and enjoy it.
The level of service was also far below what we would expect from a 5-star hotel. There was no proper arrival service to assist with our luggage, and we did not experience the kind of room service or guest assistance that you normally associate with a hotel of this category.
Another disappointing point was the number of additional charges. Even basic things around the pool came at an extra cost, including towels and certain chairs or loungers. These are not the kinds of extras I would expect to keep paying for when staying at a 5-star hotel.
Most importantly, we were disappointed with how our reservation was handled. We had booked five nights, and on the very first day, shortly after arriving and seeing the hotel, I asked to shorten our stay and cancel the remaining four nights. When they would not agree to that, I asked if they could at least cancel three nights, or even just the final two nights. None of those nights had been used yet, but the hotel offered no flexibility and required payment for the entire five-night reservation.
I understand that hotels have cancellation policies, but considering that I raised the issue immediately on our first day and was willing to stay for part of the reservation, I expected at least some understanding or an attempt to find a reasonable solution.
Overall, the facilities, service, and guest experience simply did not match what we expected from a 5-star hotel.
The hotel’s facilities are exceptional: well-maintained, comfortable, and fully in line with what one would expect from a five-star property. However, my experience with some members of the staff, and especially with the receptionist Sungsii Moo, was far below that standard.
From the moment I arrived, Sungsii Moo’s attitude felt unprofessional and, at times, disrespectful. As I do not speak English or Korean, she laughed at me several times and made facial expressions and gestures together with other reception staff. Perhaps this was due to inexperience, but I have never received this kind of treatment from a hotel receptionist before.
In addition, in March, before making my reservation, I called the hotel and was told that I could use the swimming pool throughout the day. The hotel subsequently changed this policy in June, limiting pool access until 1:00 p.m. I understand that policies can change, but my flights had already been booked and were scheduled to depart at 10:00 p.m. Therefore, I asked Sungsii Moo if I could exceptionally use the pool until 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. Not only did she refuse my request, but Sungsii Moo also made comments about money, even though I never offered or suggested any payment. She told me that, since it was 2:00 p.m. and check-in was at 3:00 p.m., it was enough that she was assisting me “for free.” I consider this comment completely inappropriate for the reception of a five-star hotel.
I also found the shuttle service management disappointing. I notified the hotel more than 35 hours in advance, as requested, but because it was the weekend, I received no response to my emails. When I arrived, I had to borrow someone else’s phone to call the hotel and arrange the transfer.
Overall, the facilities deserve five stars, but the service I received from Sungsii Moo did not meet that standard. I hope the hotel will review these issues, particularly the training and professionalism of its reception staff.

점점 더 유명해져 예약이 어려워지면 속상하겠지만 제주 최고 숙소인 것은 틀림 없습니다! 오픈 이래 매년 찾고 있어요. 늘 기쁘게 이용하고 있습니다.
깨끗하고 편안한 호텔이였어요. 수영장물도 깨끗하고, 얕은곳부터 깊은곳까지 다양하게 있어,아이들도 어른들도 즐길수 있어 너무 좋았어요. 또 가고 싶어요.
조용한 자연 휴양림 속에 들어와 있는 듯한 느낌을 받았습니다. 가족 아름다운 정원에 수국이 만발하여 따로 수국 구경 안 가도 될 만큼 조경이 아름다웠습니다. 가족 휴가로 손색없을 만큼 만족스러웠습니다.
차가 있어야지 이동이 가능합니다.
뷔페는 가성비 좋아요~ 제주의 특색을 담은 메뉴 구성도 좋았구요!
수영장의 샤워실 탈의실 시설이 좁고 낡아서 아쉬웠어요. 수영장 뷰는 최고입니다^^
