Everything
Nothing it was perfect
Beautiful surroundings and such a lovely team. Breakfast and dinner at the pub was absolutely incredible, so glad we booked 2 nights. The perfect dog friendly escape.
Good start to the day
The dinner menu
Characterful and warm
Nothing all good
Absolutely loved everything about the property. It was immaculate, loved that there was a private enclosed garden and log burner for the cooler evenings. The hospitality couldn't have been better, all members of staff were very helpful and very friendly. Will definitely be returning
Superb as always, great food
The location is wonderful if you want peace & quiet & beautiful countryside. Our room was exceptional with everything provided & a huge bathroom with a double shower. The pub is cosy & friendly with excellent service provided. breakfast was amazing - with a real treat of homemade muffins & buns as an extra surprise treat!
Our stay was wonderful & very dog friendly - with beautiful walks nearby.
we found the evening menu slightly limited & slightly pricey but it wouldn't put us off staying again- or eating there - as what we had was really good - nothing else that we didn't like- we will definitely return
Beautiful clean accommodation in lovely location
Just wished it did more pub grub.
Clean with lovely views in a very quiet location
We arrived slightly early so sat on the bench outside whilst we looked for some local walks. As we were waiting, a member of staff came out to ask if we were ok and then allowed us to check in 30 minutes early which was very helpful! Staff were all very polite.
We stayed in The Barn, it was very nicely decorated and spacious. I imagine it would be super cosy in winter with the log burner lit! The bed was so comfortable and the bathroom felt luxurious. We both slept extremely well. The accommodation was in a peaceful location and there was plenty parking just across the road from the main building.
Minor points -
There is a small window from the kitchen that looks out to the outdoor seating area of the inn - one to be cautious of when coming out of the shower as the bathroom is by the kitchen.
Salt and pepper would have been a nice addition in the kitchen. We brought a lot of our own food but hadn’t considered seasoning. As it is part of an inn it would be a simple but very convenient addition.
The room we stayed in at the back of the pub called The Old Barn was amazing. So clean, eco friendly and spacious. We did think the top floor overlooking the lounge area could be utilised better as there was just a massive dining table in there. The staff and dining in the pub was exceptional.
Location is great
I found the staff and owner slightly rude delivered a drink spilt it didn’t say anything or try to tidy it up ask for a different table rather the one sat right at the entrance door and toilets for the price this isn’t good, ran out of 2 mains on the menu of 6. The best though was the breakfast for somewhere where the food is a very good standard to serve the full English with Richmond sausages is just not acceptable! Very poor
Not a huge choice. But cooked beautifully. Jane who dealt with breakfast. (She took orders and served) she was very good. Friendly and efficient.
Some sort of little fridge in the rooms. Delivered milk in the morning which was good. By the time we got back in the afternoon the milk was not nice. Could not keep any of our drinks cool. The weather was wonderful and hot. A little something to keep drinks cold would have been good.
Regretfully, we booked a suite but it turns out they were double-booked and put us in an another, smaller room, which didn’t have the same facilities. Staff were quite dismissive and told us to complain to Expedia and ask for a refund as the room they put us in was cheaper. 3 days later and the Expedia can’t contact the management to arrange a refund of any kind.
Such a shame because it is a lovely place and the foot in the pub was genuinely excellent. But we paid an additional £185 for this meal for two and they didn’t even arrange a drink as a means of apology. I think we’ve been very reasonable.
