Staff, food and location
Hotel is tired, marks all around on wallpaper and paint
Bathroom needed a good clean
The hotel, pub and breakfast
The room we were allocated was right infront of the bridge so we were awoken early each morning with the sound of trucks and traffic
Excellent breakfast. Food in both restaurants was very good. Friendly staff and very helpful.
Bar service was sometimes a little slow. Not all drinks advertised were available.
Loved the location and the service overall. The staff were really friendly and the hotel was warm and had everything you might want or need. My child loved the pool, it was warm and nice. The restaurant was outstanding and the food very yummy and fresh.
Very difficult to choose something we didn't like honestly. Perhaps rooms could be a tad cleaner, some mould in the corners which is bound to happen with that climate. The spa there was quite a strong chlorine smell, more that what you would typically see. Though it could be that the water was treated just become we arrived so it could have just been at that moment.
I really like the atmosphere of the hotel and everything about it. The food was absolutely delicious, me and my girlfriend had a lovely dinner. The rooms were nice with a vintage style, same as other parts close to the restaurant. My favorite part definitely the breakfast and the location is really good very close to the lake and you can also have nice walks.
I like the hotel and it has its own indoor swimming pool and steam room, but I couldn’t believe you have to pay 40 pounds to use the spa facilities just for two hours a day. I think I would’ve have a better time here if the swimming pool, sauna and steam room was included with the room I booked. I was very disappointed
Location was great
Cleanliness, very small and dated spa
We really enjoyed the excellent spa facilities, and the bedroom was spacious, well-decorated, and very comfortable. The toiletries and tea/coffee selection were a nice touch, and the staff were polite, friendly, and accommodating throughout our stay.
Although we booked a ‘lake view’ room 7–8 months in advance, the view was mostly of the car park with only a small glimpse of the lake, which was disappointing given how early we booked. The spa access was also difficult to use, check-in wasn’t until 3pm and the last spa slot was 4pm, so we couldn’t use it on our first day, and we didn’t have time on checkout day due to a long journey home.
We also found the food to be quite bland and the service poor, which wasn’t what we expected for the standard and price of the hotel. We ended up cancelling our second night’s dining booking and going elsewhere. Additionally, we were surprised that the pub and restaurant had identical menus, as we had expected some variety.
Good location , friendly staff , clean rooms, good facilities available
Our first night dining was lovely and the staff were very efficient !
The second night and the following days breakfast was not as good staff wise
We ordered soup to start and both of the soups served were only just warm which was disappointing and staff were so busy that we didn’t want to ask for the soups to be warmed up .
The chips had obviously been re cooked on the main meal as they were very greasy
We waited quite a while for drinks from the bar . Our table on the second night was situated close to the door to outside of the hotel and it was busy so people were constantly going in and out and it was quite draughty and cold !
We told the waiter that we didn’t want a dessert but then he brought menus ?
At breakfast on Sunday it was very busy and although we had a long wait we did get our breakfast ok . However I asked for a green tea but was given normal tea in a pot which I asked to be changed .
I have to say that the dining staff and bar staff were run off their feet !
The other problem was everyone we returned to our room the key card wouldn’t work and we had to go back down to reception to get it working . There were other people in the same position too , so it wasn’t just us that had that problem .
However it is a lovely hotel and overall we enjoyed our first stay there and would go back again .
Quirky seating areas, Holte spa was brilliant and food was superb.
It’s been 7 years since we have been.Noticed that most of the furniture hasn’t been replaced and looked a bit tatty. Some attention to detail needed on some things.
Location. Cleanliness
Nothing
Beautiful hotel and location. Room was stylish and comfortable with everything you needed.
Breakfast was average and staff serving not overly attentive. Charged an extra £4 for what was a mediocre cappuccino.
Love the location and the spa
No spa availability on day of arrival
Rec’d a happy anniversary card, we’d just got married
Food tasty but very expensive
Card constantly not working so had to keep going to reception to get it reset
