Only location and spa
The rooms were not cleaned to an acceptable standard the bath in our room was blocked and never fixed even when I addressed the issue to the reception, and the communal showers were extremely dirty. Throughout our stay, I did not see any cleaning of the floors or replenishment of shampoo and soap, leaving me unable to shower my child after using the pool.
Additionally, the internet was completely unavailable for a full day and the hallway carpets were not vacuumed at any point. See shared images of the floor around the pool
The spa was lovely as were the staff
The room had no aircon. When we woke we were all very unwell - headache, dehydrated and feeling nauseous. The room was hot and very uncomfortable.
The spa
Clean and lovely location. Staff exceptionally friendly. Breakfast outstanding.
A small z bed was put up for my 13 year old which was too small really. Would be fine for a small child
The hotel was fantastic, room was spacious and comfortable. Spa was incredible. Food was great and staff brilliant.
The room #20 was creaky floored, old looking. Wallpaper was peeling around the badly peeling window. Rooftop ‘view’ was quite bad. Very dirty and rubbish up there. Reception Staff were lovely, bar staff were dismissive in the evening. The food wasn’t great but very expensive. At breakfast, well we didn’t get our cooked full English but the other patrons that came in after we ordered, did! We got a refund on breakfast thankfully, but won’t be coming back
Tired, creaky floors. Wallpaper coming off. Flashing paintwork on the window, no view but what we did see could do with a lot of attention. Bathroom edges were mouldy, siding on the bath was coming away, scratched up because the shower door was stripped of its rubber, bottom of the door was rotting.
The area. The food was lovely.
The decor 😍
Cosy
Great location, the hotel is very nice, room clean, well equipped.
Staff is very nice and helpful.
Spa is great, too.
Lovely gesture of pub staff to give my niece some sweet treats on a wooden plate which said Happy Birthday.
Complementary bday card from the hotel was so nice, too.
There was nothing we didn't like, we'd go back again! :)
Beautiful location. Rooms lovely. Staff super friendly. Bar food was great - but book as soon as you can. Great atmosphere

The area
Looked a little tired,
Great Spa and good value.
Fire alarm went off 4x during the night and completely ruined the experience, also the beds were very uncomfortable.
The location is lovely, very picturesque, and the main areas of the hotel have been refurbished and look lovely, as per the pictures. The breakfast was also nice enough (banana pancakes was only served with 1/2 a banana though...and you had to pay extra for any coffee other than filter).
The "Fabulous" room was incredibly disappointing. Very tired with stains on the carpet and old furniture, an AC unit that didn't work and no fan placed in the room as an alternative. The booking also stated there would be a coffee machine, but it was just a kettle and sachets of instant coffee. For £263 a night, I would have expected a much nicer room, like those advertised all over the website and booking.com.
The fire alarm also went off 5 times during our stay - 3 times between 12:30am and 3am. The first time, when we went and waited outside while the alarm sounded, nobody came out to tell us everything was OK. The 2nd and 3rd time the alarm stopped after about a minute or 2, and when it happened again at 9:45am and 10:15am was shorter, but no explanation was offered and no apology or compensation for being disturbed several times during the night.
