Disappointing
Pros:

The location was good. The swimming pool and hot tub were nice.

Cons:

The walls were paper thin. I hardly slept as I could hear, word for word, the conversation next door, and the background music.
The service is the restaurant for dinner & breakfast was poor. It took ages & food (dinner especially) was average for the price.

Could not work out how to use the heaters. Our room did not have a fridge. And no portable fridges were available. I have stayed at other hotels and have managed to get a small fridge. Put in the room. This hotel requires me to upgrade to a room with a fridge at extra cost.

Great mid week break.
Pros:

We had a fantastic few days at the Swan. The staff were brilliant, the place was clean and tidy and the the Spa was good as well. Admittedly, we picked a great week for the weather as well! MTB riding in Grizedale and Paddleboarding on Windermere were some of the highlights. We ate at the hotel each evening and enjoyed the food at both evening meals and breakfast.

The roast dinner and the full English breakfast was amazing The Service in the restaurant was great too. The breakfast staff were rushed off their feet bless them

Cons:

I didn’t particularly like the reception area where you check in customers the reception desks look awful and cheap
I thought it was a bit rubbish that we got to the hotel at 2.30 and we couldn’t check in TIL after our spa session (4.30pm) therefore we had to dig through our suitcases at reception for our bathing suits
I have never gone to a hotel and checked in later than 2:30 pm and every hotel I go to is fully booked every night so I don’t know what the hold-up must’ve been, but it was very inconvenient for us checking in after the Spa.
The pillows were thin so neither of us slept well

A fantastic gem in a glorious location! We will be back year on year!
Pros:

We booked this with the use of Grok (AI) and its suggestions based on my preferences. We did not expect big things, but my gosh; it was phenomenal. We will be back ASAP and for longer! Food is delicious, breakfast is a wide spread of continental and hot food, rooms were spacious and clean, amazing view on the river side rooms, lots of air comes through the sash windows. Pool area is great, would like to try the spa pool next time. Lovely pub area inside and outside to sit and have a drink and/or food. Overall, can't fault a single thing! I am genuinely amazed by how great his place is. The location surrounding the hotel is fantastic too, great walks, love and peaceful, plenty to do and now I feel an incredible amount of zen.

Cons:

For my own personal preference, I prefer a walk-in shower... that is literally it! No faults or issues whatsoever.

Honest review.
Pros:

All the staff were very welcoming and friendly, the room was nice and clean, beds comfy, we booked 2 hours in the spa too which was ok, the food in the Swan pub was very nice..we did book breakfast but had to rush back home the next day so didn't manage to try this, which was a shame but couldn't be helped. All in all a much needed relaxing time we had.

Cons:

The spa was pretty small and a bit dirty, it was quite overcrowded. There was 2 large groups of ladys that dominated the hot tub so we never got a look in, we only stayed just over an hour instead of the 2 hours we included in our stay, there was a lovely pool and hot tub in the hotel you could use free when staying, so that would of been nice to know, we wouldn't bother booking spa in future stays.

Good food, but the spa and room standards mean we would not stay again.
Pros:

Food was good, with a decent selection of drinks.

Cons:

The spa was disappointing. The water appeared dirty and had an unpleasant smell. We understand a low-chemical or natural filtration system may be used, but the experience was not enjoyable.

The room itself was acceptable, however the MDF bath panel was damaged, which affected both hygiene and appearance. The layout was also inconvenient. The only mirror was positioned next to the bathroom door, and there were no nearby plug sockets for using a hairdryer. The dressing table also did not have a mirror, which made basic use difficult.

-catfished by the room, no photos of the room we were allocated
-room was old and dated
-unclean- when I complained about this to a member of staff she said there was nothing she could do as house keeping were not working
-no offer of compensation or a clean
-bath did not empty so you were showering in 3 inches of your own water
