A nice enough place to stay, but not to have dinner.
Pros:

Staff were nice and the scenery was lovely. I liked the pool table.

Cons:

The decor in the hotel and restaurant was so bad, those pink dining chairs were horrid. The main restaurant was not worth it, far better food at other local pubs. 26£ for hake with barely any flavour! More seating by the pool would be useful.

A once lovely hotel that is now needing some investment to make it worth staying.
Pros:

Lovely location and good spa facilities. Breakfast was nice.

Cons:

Room looks tired, mattress very old and way too soft and uncomfortable, aircon not available unless you pay for an upgraded room. Also, purposely deactivate all the room keys 30 mins before checkout time causing chaos for everyone returning from breakfast to access rooms

Pros:

Brilliant location, overlooking the river and beautiful old stone bridge. Plus a very good walk out of the carpark with some stunning views around. The old Inn is expansive, as plenty of facilities and has been stylishly refurbished recently.
Excellent breakfast offering.

Cons:

The 2 Food options are too diametrically opposite. The expensive River room restaurant having hybrid almost 5 star quality, whereas the bar restaurant next door, almost cafe like, has unimaginative offerings often fried/deep fried.

Enjoyed the stay. Hotel could have been cleaner, particularly pool changing and room decor.
Pros:

Meals were good as were the staff. Hotel situated in a nice spot and parking was easy.

Cons:

Some of the decor was a bit tired. The bed headboard in room had greasy marks where people’s heads had been and dust on the top. If you are having such a strong feature headboard it should at least be clean. Also ladies changing room for the pool was not cleaned in a regular basis. Floors had dirty puddles on them and there was litter present from one day to the next.

An overall slightly underwhelming experience, largely due to the quality and cost of food.
Pros:

Room was comfortable, good access to pool facilities. Staff friendly. Good location for central Lakes. The continental breakfast buffet options (toast, yogurt, fruit, pastries) were good and enjoyable. We were offered tea or coffee at breakfast.

Cons:

The food was expensive and overall poor quality. On the first night we had originally booked a table in the river room. When we went down there was very loud music playing and the menu looked unimpressive and expensive. We decided to sit (literally) next door at the Swan Inn. This had a greater option of foods, although still very costly for what it was. To start, we had focaccia, which was dry enough to be a breadstick, and paid £6 for a side of french fries which was a very small portion and bland. The pizza oven was not serving either night we stayed and decided to eat elsewhere the following evening. We ordered some breakfast foods from the breakfast menu which was also underwhelming. The pancakes were quite obviously bought in (as opposed to made fresh) which wouldn't have been an issue if they weren't so dry. The bacon was also served barely warm and very tough. We did not finish it.

Lovely small hotel but rooms noisy
Pros:

Cosy inn, lovely decor, really good breakfast with friendly service.

Cons:

The walls are paper thin between the rooms. I could hear snoring so loud through the wall that earplugs didn’t help. On the other side (room 101 by reception) there was a small dog barking at midnight with the owners in the room making no effort to keep it quiet. That was also my alarm clock the following morning as the dog barked non-stop while the room’s occupants were at breakfast. Advise you to ask for a quiet room!

Not the hotels fault in terms of how their guests conduct themselves.
Pros:

Staff were polite, location great.
Food & drink (when we got it were ok)

Cons:

Day 1 - booked a dinner reservation & it took 45 minutes before they even brought us our drinks. Food was OK but a lot of items on the menu unavailable even though we were sat down at 1945.
Then had the experience at around 10:30 of guests next door having an argument & hotel staff / security having to deal with them.
Day 2 - night was again interrupted by guests in the other next door room, from around midnight, having music on, talking loudly & then engaged in several sex sessions right through until around 05:30 in the morning.
Overall the room & hotel needed a lot of updating. Room had torn wallpaper, rotten sash windows, poor seal around bath & basin. Communal toilets had really bad rotten skirting boards, leaking taps & general decor needed updating. Corridors had holes in the floors that could be felt through the carpet.
