Meal took too long
Pros:

We dined In the restaurant it was a bit busy but not rammed we paid for 2 hours parking. My wife had a starter we both had main courses. By the time the mains came we only had 25 minutes to get back to the had to rush the meal and got back to the car with a whooping 6 minutes to spare. When it came to the bill a service charged had be put on to which was never mentioned on the menu. I let it slide on the meal we had earlier In the week but not this time it's quite deceptive the way it's done.t

Lovely hotel
Pros:

Lovely hotel and very friendly polite staff. Room very clean although rather small. However we were told we had a garden view but we actually had the view of a very grubby conservatory roof and nothing else. That was a little disappointing. Food was very nice and well presented. Very nice hotel just wish the room had something we could actually see out of the window!

Not what we booked and the restaurant experience was dreadful.
Pros:

We had booked a spa package with prosecco and afternoon tea as a treat for my wife’s birthday before an evening trip to Cartmel races. The new spa is very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience there. When we went to check in we were told, despite our email stating it explicitly, that we hadn’t in fact booked afternoon tea and crucially as there was no record of it being pre-booked it wouldn’t be available. Disappointedly we decided anyway to eat in the restaurant. Drinks arrived promptly but after 45 minutes no sign of our food. When I queried this they admitted they had lost our food order so we left as it was now time for us to depart for the races. Having had nothing to eat since leaving home we were not in the best frame of mind. On a positive the Prosecco was in our room - warm, no ice or cooler and no ice! Breakfast wasn’t much better with our food going to the wrong table and when eventually it arrived with us it wasn’t correct. The extra coffee we ordered never arrived. Overall attention to detail and looking after the customer was extremely poor (apart from the spa). We raised our concerns at reception upon checkout and didn’t really get any tangible sympathy and the promised follow up by management has never materialised. We had decided to give the Swan a second chance after a poor experience last time and that transpired to be a disaster. Very unlikely to go back and sorry but I wouldn’t recommend the hotel. A very unfortunate experience for my wife’s birthday celebrations.

A lovely short break
Pros:

Recently visited to celebrate husbands 50th Birthday. The Swan is in the most beautiful location...we were blessed with the beautiful, recent warm , sunny weather and sitting outside next to the river and bridge was lovely. We had a Fabulous room booked with a z bed for our son which was comfortable. As many have said the air conditioning in rooms appears to be decommissioned and during this heatwave we did find the room very warm...we were able to open upper windows and shutters to alleviate this and there was a fan provided too.
Breakfast was great with lots on offer and we found the cooked breakfasts very good. We ate in the pub section on one night only and found the food to be of good quality and service good despite being very busy.
We used the pool once quite early on the morning..everything was clean and the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were all in use. We did not make use of the spa but could see this was a busy space and with the gorgeous weather people were making use of the outdoor spaces.
The Swan is located in a beautiful area close to the local heritage steam railway and access to Windermere lake cruises from the Lakeside pier which is an easy walk about 20mins from the hotel.
We travelled out most days from the hotel and its a great base. We also visited to Lakeland motor museum which is a small but wonderful hidden gem just 5 mins drive away.
Overall our stay was great, our room was nice and all we needed.
I would say that the staff team...particularly those in the dining and bar areas were excellent throughout...friendly, welcoming and obviously working very hard. We enjoyed our short break and woukd return in future.

Gorgeous room, a speaker would be good and breakfast in bed option
Pros:

The room decor but the staff in the spa were lovely

Cons:

Bath needed cleaning but that’s ok I cleaned it, probably another lock on the inside of the loft suite and a next time discount code?

Poor pizza
Pros:

We had a couple of pizzas from the dudes dough van outside the hotel. There was no system for telling us when they would be ready, outside of a 15-20 minute window, so we had to guess when they would be ready, we waited the full 20, and they were a bit cold when we got them. The base was burnt all over, the sauce tasted like it was just passata poured over. And the toppings were scarce. Pizza was really poor. Staff were lovely as always, and the location is great, seems like a lack of organisation and training from the top down. Worth a visit, just don’t get the pizza.
