The house is historic and it is beautiful. The decor was very nice.
It was extremely cold (40 degrees on the thermostat) when we walked into our room. We turned on the heaters and tried to wait it out but got chilled and after 30 minutes, it was still cold. The bathroom was also extremely cold.
We were sent to another room that was slightly warmer. The bathroom was the warmest part of the room and when I got too chilled, I would go in there are warm my feet at the heater.
The bathroom was filthy with pubic hair in multiple places (floor, shower, side of tub).
The bed was overused and sloped downward at the top so it felt like your blood rushed to your head.
The pillows, blankets and comforter had been sprayed with febreeze. If this is a migraine trigger for you or if you have asthma or allergies, beware.
Between the smell, the cold and the mattress, I ended up getting a migraine. At this point, my husband said let's just go home where you can rest in comfort. So we left at 11:30.
There was no response to my texts.
The location.

Clean, quite
Our two person, romantic getaway to the island of Newport was punctuated by our lovely accommodations here at the HHH. We selected the Restmere room for its large bed and deep tub. We were not disappointed. Soaking in a luxurious bath with endless hot water and sleeping in a bed that feels kike a cloud....well worth the pricetag we paid for it. The entire mansion was at our disposal the entire stay, making us feel like Billionaires!
There were a few items that could have used attention. The lightning in my closet was out, making it difficult to see my clothing and personal items which I was choosing to keep tucked away so they would not interfere with photos taken in the room. The bed post was loose...no big deal but it was noted. The antique furniture throughout had an old smell as is normal for antiques but I am sensitive about smells so it was noted. I thought the refrigerator was awkward with the coffee pot on it and 3 paper cups for two people with two nights stay led to us discovering the kitchen with it's full amenities so that ended up being a win!
Quiet neighborhood, easy parking, great communication, BEST bed and bedding ever, decor, in room coffee, TUB, decorative fireplace, top floor but felt cozy and had great views...location was central and a quick drive to various places of interest.
Nothing.
There were lots of different rooms you can hang out in besides your bedroom. Whether it was playing a game, eating a nice dinner in the dining room, curling up and reading a book by yourself, or sitting and playing the piano you could always find a different place to be. There was also a great kitchen for being able to cook in so we didn't have to eat all of our meals out.
It was fun to research about the historical aspects of the house, and a known architect, since we got to stay there, not just tour it.
The bed under the stairs is hard and we like soft beds. They could use a darkening blind by the porch that has a security light. We covered that window with a blanket.

Quiet and the room was beautiful!!!
This is a beautiful house in an area close to downtown Newport . Check-in is sent to you by text or Email. The bed and room were comfortable and I would have rated it a 5 except the shower was disappointing. The door track would not close properly and at times the shower trickled out so slowly that my wife passed on washing her hair there because it too long to rinse.
Uses self check-in. There is no sign on the house or property that indicates the current name of the inn. Although well equipped to provide breakfast, they have discontinued that amenity. Suggest using the IHOP just around the corner on West Main Road. The house is impressive but the condition and level of cleanliness is lacking. The in room television is virtually impossible to navigate. Recommend using a single television service that provides local channels and major cable networks. Overall? Disappointing.
