Absolutely phenomenal service. A special thank you to Ryan O'Rear at the front desk. He was super helpful, attentive, and professional. We were in a bind and the price was right and I can't thank Ryan and the hotel enough.
Love this place. My daughter lives in Austin and it’s our go to when we go to town. Love the blue Lacey, cute little restaurant. Food was amazing. We ate there every morning. Jim made the best coffee drinks. Jenny and Joy were our servers and they wereso kind and accommodating.
The location of the hotel is perfect. It is close to everything you need plus it is in a new neighborhood where they have lots of restaurants, amenities bars, shopping places, and it is a very safe neighborhood.
Initially, when we got there, we came from Houston Texas, which is around two hours and a half drive. We got there around 10 PM at night and the very first problem started with the checking front desk. He was very unwelcoming. He did the bare minimum meaning, giving us the keys, no explanation no situation of the room and pretty much we had to figure everything out. The only thing he was concerned about was for us to pay extra to park our car. I have explained to him that the parking lot facing the hotel is using a service that we have here in Houston and so they charge automatically my account since I have one with them which would come up to less than $15 a day he insisted and explain that that’s not how things go and that we would have to park with the hotel and will be charged $25 a night which was not a problem but the way it was explained was rude. We got into our rooms and we really liked our room because it looked exactly how it was in the pictures. The hotel itself is clean. Everything looked good.the following morning we left around 11 AM for breakfast and when we came back around one, the rooms were not cleaned initially we thought that it was just not our turn yet so I have addressed one of the cleaning staff which he explained that he would go and clean it that is just not our turn it. Then something told me to speak to the front desk and while waiting in line in at the front desk, we were surprised to see how other people were explained very well how to integrate with the services of the hotel meaning having 15% of in the restaurant and then having bicycles free bicycle that they could use and the time hours and explaining pretty much everything which when we checked in, we were just sent in our way into the room.
Loved the location, style, and quality of the lobby and rooms. The staff was very nice too. Appreciated the 15% off breakfast at the Blue Lacey.
The pillows were not comfortable - lumpy with not quite enough support for side sleepers.
Very happy with my stay at Origin Hotel in July 2026. I’ve stayed in a number of hotels in downtown Austin and around UT campus and Origin has become my new favorite. Had a double queen bed room. Not a huge room but fine for my needs. Solid surface flooring, beds separated by a wall for privacy, full length mirror on wall. Everything is fairly new and has a modern vibe. Refrigerator, hair dryer, and clothes steamer in room. Microwave and iron/ironing board available at request. Toiletries were all refillable bottles on bathroom counter and in shower which I prefer. No gross and messy little bars of soap. There is no coffee available in the lobby, but there is a Nespresso machine in the room with decaf and regular pods, half and half, and powdered creamer and sweeteners which was a lot better than lobby coffee. I requested more coffee pods and half and half at the front desk without an issue. Although I did not eat at Blue Lacy, the restaurant downstairs off the lobby, they appear to have a solid menu including a variety of coffee drinks. Blue Lacy has a nice patio area with a dog mural and also decent Happy Hour deals. One of my favorite things about the hotel was the bottle filler available on floors 2, 4, and 5 next to the ice machine. Filtered water was available in cold, sparkling, ambient, and hot, so bring a refillable water bottle. Check in and check out was fast and easy and all front desk staff was polite and helpful. Parking is very easy and secure in a well-lit covered garage just steps away from the front door. Be sure to set up parking at the hotel when you check in rather than scanning the QR code in the garage as Origin gives you a discounted rate. Parking was $25/day with in/out privileges. We never had an issue finding a space on the first floor. The hotel is located in Mueller Park in a new office park setting with lots of restaurants within walking distance, but it’s also a great location for all of the things you want to do in Austin without the hassle of traffic and valet or street parking like the majority of hotels in the area. This hotel is very close to the new TRS building location. All front desk staff was friendly and helpful, and housekeeping did a great job maintaining the room and common areas. I appreciated being able to tip housekeeping through a QR code left in my room as well as on the online check out. There were bikes available to borrow and snacks and drinks available for purchase in the lobby although I did not take advantage of this. Overall, a great couple of days and I would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Austin.
Sean , Tati, Isis and Tiffany are an asset to this hotel . They were welcoming . Tati helped with everything from the bicycles to getting hot water , Isis welcomed me and helped me feel so comfortable being new to Austin . Ryan is diligent and passionate about his community and conversation . My bed was awesome and access to everything was easy . The hotel is clean , well organized, peaceful and the night staff are diligent about making the property secure for a sense of safety . This is my go to spot when I visit Austin for sure and the bicycles are complimentary so I can easily tour the neighborhood .Yay !
Well located boutique style hotel with friendly staff. Convenient to many restaurants and lovely walkable neighborhood.
Great location and very clean
Location and the amenities
Room felt a bit humid and A/C didn't seem super strong. Sliding bathroom door was hard to move. May just need some WD40
During my recent stay I found the hotel had no internet service in the lobby. I mentioned it was difficult to get a connection in the room and they said they knew it was a problem and would reboot the system. Didn't help. I was fielding calls from a family member that was in the hospital and I had to walk the halls to find a signal to stay on the call with the dr.
The room was tiny and who thought it was a good idea to have the head of the bed only a small night stand away from the toilet. No bathroom door just a sliding barn door that didn't close off the room. Hot water took forever in the shower and they said they were aware of this problem too.
Plan accordingly if you want to use the elevator it takes a long time.
The room also had an intermittent high pitch squeal sound possibly coming from the A/C.
The bed sunk in so low I would consider it one step up from an overused camp mattress on the rickety bunk beds from 30 years ago and the mattress made squeaking noises anytime you moved. Needless to say we didn't get any sleep.
