Great location, perfect place to get up early and walk around before all the crowds arrive. Right by many things. We stayed as our first stop on the trip and it works d out perform ct. We had the Ending Suite for our family of 5. Room was kind of tght, but we were in the Tokyo. It had two full baths and two articles as separated by a watermacgine and a refrigerator. Breakfast was wonderful. It changed everyday.
Asakusa is a crowded, crazy place by day but surprising quiet after everyone has left for the evening. I thought we might have trouble with external noise but I forget I'm in Japan and people are very respectful.
This is a small hotel, very tiny - we stayed on the 5th floor which had only two rooms on it. The staff are all young and from different parts of the world, but they were very helpful and bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable (Jubayer gets a special mention as does Wang).
The rooms are small, so we opted for something a bit bigger, a twin room, but we still struggled. The room was L-shaped with a tatami mat area and unfortunately we had to use this area for our suitcases. We knew this was not "correct etiquette" but there was no where else to put them.
The bathroom was surprisingly large by comparison, with a full size bathtub, which was welcome after a long day of walking.
We had a balcony, so we could open the door and get fresh air. Unfortunately there were no alternatives to their thick winter doonas (quilts/duvets). Even though it was winter, they were way too hot for us. (We had requested blankets, but apparently these quilts are called "blankets" so that request got lost in translation.)
The biggest problem for us was the water dispenser - lovely idea to have it in our room but it cycled on and off all night and kept waking us up. We tried to turn it off but there was no off switch and staff were unable to assist for the same reason. Ear plugs weren't enough to block it out. Such a pity to not have the option to switch it off for a proper sleep.
Surprisingly large room by Tokyo standards, we were very pleased with our stay. The lobby is basically a coffee shop and bar, although we were too het lagged to stay up and enjoy a conversation. Breakfast was wonderful.
Nice and close to Senso-Ji shrine
Great location. Within 5 minutes walk of public transport, dining options, Senso-ji temple. The hotel, though small, is clean and offers a quiet sleep.
The property is located in a very convenient location where you can walk to the stations. We have read many positive reviews about this hotel and happy to say it was one of the top hotels in Japan. Rooms are comfortable and the bathroom is spacious. We drank a lot of water and having a water filter inside the room was the best! There are two choices for breakfast, Japanese or English. We got Japanese for two mornings and a bit disappointed that breakfast was the same on both mornings. Food was delicious…albeit if we knew what was being served we would have chose English the next morning. Modern, clean, quiet, convenient -perfect for our stay. Will definitely come back
Veldig bra beliggenhet! Fint hotell. Hyggelig og hjelpsom personell. Bra frokost.
Excellent, friendly centrally located hotel with rooms that are larger than normal in Tokyo.
I have been traveling to Japan for decades and like to stay in Asakusa when I first arrive in Tokyo on vacation. This boutique hotel is exceptionally good for my needs and interests. It’s clean, quiet, tastefully decorated, and has much more space in a twin room than you tend to find in a small Tokyo hotel. The bathroom is especially large and has a relaxing rain tree shower head. So nice. I really liked the water filter/dispenser right in my room and having a sliding glass door to the small balcony to let fresh air in. The staff was delightful and very helpful when I needed to arrange for a taxi for an early morning departure. I love staying near Sensoji temple and strolling around that area early in the morning and in the evenings. I look forward to returning here.
Asakusa Kaede is a small hotel that pitches itself as a boutique experience. It is expensive for the size of the room and quality of the amenities and food.
I would understand this if the service experience was high-quality given its small size.
However, we had one of the worst ever customer experiences I have had in many years of travel, and I do not recommend staying here.
My family at the hotel for four nights. We had an a very early international flight on our last day where our children was quite sleepy. About 1.5 hours after leaving while at the airport my daughter realised with horror that she had left her very special security blanket at the hotel, as it had become entangled in her bed sheets overnight.
At that point, we couldn’t go back to the hotel so I emailed them to ask them to search for it, stressing how precious it was to her.
When we arrived home around 12 hours later we had no reply, and my daughter became very distressed, so I emailed the hotel again. I stressed again how special the blanket was to her.
They wrote back to me and told me they had found her blanket, but couldn’t post it overseas (I had offered to pay them or transfer money).
I asked them to post it to a friend in Japan, again offering to pay. They agreed, but focussed on making sure they would not be out of pocket.
My friend then kindly offered to come to the hotel in person to collect it on a day when she was in Tokyo.
I wrote back to the hotel to explain, and introduce my friend.
The hotel then wrote back to me and told me they had THROWN OUT my daughter’s blanket and it could not be recovered.
They blamed their hotel cleaner, and said their hotel staff had secured it, but very clearly had they genuinely secured it (eg in a cupboard), and taken basic steps such as putting it in a plastic bag, or putting a note on it, there was no way it could have been thrown out.
What made me particularly disappointed with this experience was:
+ We had stressed multiple times how special it was
+ The hotel is very quiet with only one staff member on duty at reception each day. The staff are never busy as with other hotels because there are so few rooms - they spend most of their time on their phone. So there is simply no reason why they didn’t have 1 minute to take a basic precaution and put her blanket somewhere safe.
+ We paid well over $1000 for a 4 night stay. Despite this, the hotel was very careless about this issue doing the absolute minimum possible to find a solution and keep the blanket safe, but worrying excessively about being paid $10 in postage.
For contrast, my husband left an item of clothing at a ryokan in Kyoto. The ryokan proactively emailed us within an hour of leaving to alert us. As we were already on a train to another city, they offered to post it to one of our subsequent hotels, and even made sure to call the hotel to alert them to the package and make sure they could receive it. That level of care happened without us asking for it, and for an item that was nowhere near as precious as this one.
Overall, an incredibly disappointing experience from a hotel that had every opportunity to do better, but took 0 care and responsibility.
離淺草非常近,附近商家多,很適合觀光客
We enjoyed our stay at Asakusa Kaede. Fantastic location, very clean, and friendly staff. We were in the family suite on the 6th floor which gave us a lovely air conditioned view of the the end of July Sumida river fireworks! This is a compact hotel in an older part of Tokyo so don't expect something super spacious even with the family suite. There was enough space to lay down four futons. More would be difficult due to the seating furniture. However the two bathrooms are modern and roomy. It was good to have a water filter in the room. Futon mattresses were very comfortable. Would stay there again.
This hotel was just a 5-10 minute walk from the Hozomon Gate, the Senso-ji Temple, Nakamise-dori market, and the Asakusa train station as well as lots of great restaurants and cafes. You feel like you are right in the heart of the neighborhood. This adorable boutique hotel is very well kept and the staff are very friendly. We had the top floor which was an attic converted into a traditional Japanese room with tatami mats. It had two very nice clean and stylish bathrooms. You can see the sky tower lit up from the window. It had two small platform areas with room to set up futons. Or you could leave one side as a sitting area with a small table and floor-chairs if you only use two twin futons on one side. It was just big enough for 5 single futons and our bags but you could squeeze the 6 futons in there if you needed to. There just wouldn’t be much room for anything else.
The showers were impressive with multiple settings and one had a very nice deep bathtub. Everything was very stylish and clean. The traditional breakfast was good but the bread breakfast was not great and was not warmed up properly.
Great hotel, i would definitely stay there again. Great location, clean, nicely decorated, just great value for money.
The location is perfect
The pre-checking design is inconvenient. You need to type the same info for the same family member again and again.
