Categories

Cleanliness
8.1
Multiple guests explicitly noted clean rooms ('Rene rom', 'Zimmer war sauber'), though one review described rooms as 'lieblos' which suggests inconsistent upkeep; overall slightly above standard for this property.
Service
8.6
Several guests praised reception and staff as friendly and helpful and described personnel as attentive; service consistently reported as a strong point.
Location
9.3
Repeatedly highlighted as excellent — immediate proximity to the Waterloo battlefield, memorial and museums, easy walking access to sights and pleasant views from the terrace/rooms.
Room Quality
6.5
Mixed-to-negative comments: some found rooms comfortable, but multiple reports of attic rooms being very hot, lack of air-conditioning, small roof windows, drafty doors/windows and outdated/‘tired’ décor; stairs and odd room layouts also affected expectations.
Amenities
7
Practical amenities noted (parking, garden, in-room fans provided), but wifi/connectivity problems, no AC in many rooms and pervasive steakhouse smells were recurring negatives.
Value for Money
7.5
Several guests described the hotel as affordable and convenient for the sights, though some found the on-site restaurant pricey (especially wine); overall fair value with caveats.
Food and Beverage
8.2
The hotel's restaurant received consistently strong praise for dinner quality and service ('excellent meals', 'restaurant food is excellent'), but breakfast/buffet quality and the use of the restaurant as the breakfast room drew negative comments.
Overall Experience
8
Overall positive sentiment driven by unbeatable location, good restaurant and helpful staff; significant downsides (heat in attic rooms, some room condition issues and wifi/breakfast problems) temper the experience.

We selected this hotel because it was right ion the Waterloo battlefield and adjacent to the museum. it's a modest hotel, but comfortable, clean with an excellent, but expensive restaurant.

A no brainer for exploring the battlefield.
Pros:

Perfect location. Literally on the battlefield of Waterloo so you can walk out the door to start exploring.

Cons:

One of the more expensive breakfasts around but having said that, first bacon and eggs I’ve seen in some time.

Waterloo

Excellent location for visiting the Waterloo battlefield site and museum, located close to La Haye Sainte. Excellent evening meal in the hotel restaurant. Easy parking at the side of the hotel.

Cons:

After the superb evening meal, breakfast was adequate but average. No air con which would have been preferable but we had a fan instead
