I recently stayed at Hotel Baga Bay, and my experience was far from satisfactory. Here are the major issues we faced during our stay:
False Promises on Amenities:
The booking promised a flat-screen TV, but the TV in the room was useless without a set-top box.
A safety deposit box was listed as part of the amenities but was not provided.
No toiletries were available, which is a basic expectation at any hotel.
The rooms were extremely small, barely accommodating one bed and a single-door wardrobe, making it feel cramped and uncomfortable. When we requested cleaning, the staff simply remade the bed with the same bedsheet instead of replacing it, which was unhygienic and unacceptable.
There was no water or even a glass provided in the rooms, which is a basic service that any hotel should offer.
We booked two rooms—one standard and one deluxe. We arrived early and requested early check-in if rooms were available. The receptionist informed us of an inflated rate almost double our booking amount and claimed that only the deluxe room was ready for early check-in.
He pressured us to upgrade the standard room to a deluxe for early check-in and also demanded an early check-in fee of ₹1,000 along with the room upgrade difference. When we contacted the owner, he clarified that no early check-in charges should apply if rooms are available.
Unprofessional Staff Behavior: The receptionist’s attitude was unhelpful and appeared to focus more on upselling and extracting additional money rather than providing a smooth check-in experience.
There seemed to be a lack of coordination between the staff and management, leaving guests confused and dissatisfied. Given the poor room quality, lack of basic amenities, unhygienic practices, and unprofessional service, the overall experience felt overpriced and not worth the money spent. This experience was deeply disappointing, and I would not recommend this hotel to others.
The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and efficient.... and also the rooms were spacious and clean, with amazing balcony view.... the most interesting fact about this stay is the hotel was within walking distance of all popular clubs and beaches!!!!
Overall the hotel left us pleasantly surprised and wanting for more..... Will visit back again☺
