Excellent value. This is a very special place to stay. I felt very aristocratic, like being transported through time. This was my second time staying.
Everything was perfect.
Beautiful interior, exterior and grounds. Comfortable bed, huge rooms.
HVAC systems have been out of service long enough that there are framed plaques above the thermostat letting you know that there are fans and space heaters in the armoire. With our room temperature hitting 80 degrees by 10 p.m., a fan really didn’t do much. Leaving windows open helped, but as there aren’t any screens it wasn’t our first choice.

Quiet stay, feels very private, downstairs dinning area is a good amenity, with coffee, water, ice, and a microwave. Good stay for traveling and work.

Lovely historic and charming property.
Stairs were difficult with no elevator. Never saw any staff.
We stayed here for the SLH Sun Wind & Wine festival at Mer Soleil Vineyards and it was a good and convenient choice. We were pleased with our 2nd floor room. It was spacious and comfortable. As others have noted, the stairs are a bit steep but we had no issues with it.
The downside of the property is that it feels quite impersonal. You check in like you would at an AirBnB rental. There is ostensibly an innkeeper on site but we never met (nor needed) them. There were also some difficulties getting our reservation payment process finalized. Even though we reserved via Booking.com, the property uses their own system and the information did not coordinate well. It took multiple messages back and forth with a remote service center before things got squared away.

No breakfast other than oatmeal - cereal and coffee/tea. I don’t remember much else about it, there might have been fruit. It was a different and nicer experience than the typical chain motel by a freeway exit.

It is so beautiful. The rooms and bathrooms are generous size and gracious. They are well appointed.
