Worked and no pay for the past three weeks!l so sad everyday it's a different story about our money. Will be calling The media by Friday.
The check-in process was great and we were upgraded to a room with a soaker tub, which we loved.
The restaurant is very small, but the food was great and the server was wonderful (although, working alone and running around doing it all, while the manager, or maybe owner or something?, was drinking with friends). The breakfast bar was also quite good and the server very attentive.
The room was very nice, but the finishings were a bit less than luxury. The soaker tub leaked and wouldn't keep water in it. The sheets on the bed weren't fitted sheets for some reason, and the whole bedding was coming apart at night. We couldn't figure out if the TV worked, but we enjoyed having a couch in our room. The rooms are advertised as sound-proof, but we could hear people in the hall at night and kids running around in the morning.
The grounds around the place (although somewhat under construction) are secluded and beautiful. They have a good outdoor space to lounge and enjoy a drink or coffee.
Safety
-There was no safe present in our room, and therefore we were uncomfortable with staff entering the room.
Health
-There was no running water during one of the days. This resulted in an inability to shower, wash hands, and flush the toilet.
-With a lack of running water for guests, it raises the question of how the staff in the resort performed basic personal hygiene. As a nurse myself, I would like to know how the staff washed their hands after using the restroom, before handling food, and during other high-contamination risk tasks.
Room quality
There were multiple aspects of the room that did not denote luxury. These are as follows:
-There was no shower curtain and therefore water soaked the bathroom floor.
-The iron did not work.
-The diffuser did not work.
-The clock did not work.
-The small moveable mirror did not turn on and no charging was available.
-No tea or milk was present in the suite, even though told by front desk there would be.
-A browning and mushy apple was in the fridge.
-There were no instructions on how to call the front desk or use the phone.
-The toilet seat shook every time you sat down or stood up.
Staff interactions
-When the front desk was asked if they had toothpaste, the staff at the front was unable to find any. They said that housekeeping would bring some up. The staff member then ran after us before we got on the elevator to give us a tube she found. This should've been easily accessible upon the initial request.
-A housekeeper was sent up to help fix the iron and housekeeper stated "I don't know how to use the iron”. Another housekeeper was then sent up and was able to fix the iron. Both housekeepers did not know the number to the front desk when asked.
-My partner went to the front desk to ask for new bottles of water and the number to the front desk. One sparkling and one still bottle. A housekeeper was sent up with an open-top jug of water. The front desk was called and the original request was restated. There was significant pushback from the front desk as questions such as "did they not bring you a jug? Do you not have the two bottles in your room? can you drink tap water?” It was explained to the front desk that the tap and shower water was only coming out hot. A housekeeper was sent back up and again only brought an open-top jug of water.
-This housekeeper requested to see the temperature of the water in the bathroom. The housekeeper said that we should leave the top on hot for 10 seconds and then quickly turn it too cold. We were baffled that after a day of no running water, the staff actively encouraged guests to waste water.
We were looking forward to finding a quiet place outside of the city, yet, it is clear that this hotel significantly under delivers on its promise of luxury. The nightly rate is extremely overpriced.
Surroundings are beautiful.
There’s no #*%& wall between the bedroom and the bathroom. WTH?? If they ran out money, there are other things to scrimp on.
Area is quite scenic and quiet. Breakfast was okay.
If you have accessibility requirements, this place is not for you. None of the automatic door openers actually work. Our two-bedroom suite didn’t have a lounge or sofa, just a table and four chairs. No working tv except for a shared Netflix account. Toiletries were a random mix from a local drugstore, it seems. And there was no staff around during the 11am checkout. This is a motel disguised as a hotel disguised as a luxury resort. If you’re marketing yourself as upscale, and charging upscale prices in Orangeville, then I’d expect much better.
The staff was extemely pleasant and helpful. The room, although not very large was clean and comfortable. We had an excellent breakfast as wel
Location was excellent for a wedding venue.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
I wish there was a pool.
The restaurant was delicious and the service was great. Portion sizes were large and the value for money was good. We had stayed for our anniversary, and they even provided a free dessert. The bed was comfortable and clean.
Upon check-in, we were told there would be fruit in our room, but none was provided. The room itself was quite small, especially for a property positioning itself as a luxury resort. The amenities in the room, such as the lotions, soaps, and related items, felt inexpensive and not what I would have expected of a *luxury* resort.
While the room was clean it lacked attention to detail. The bathroom was dusty, and the shower head had noticeable calcium build-up. Aside from the cold water bottle in the fridge, there was no cold drinking water available in the room and the water in the shower was difficult to control the water temperature. Around the resort, many of the finishes appeared weathered and in need of maintenance.
The views and grounds were nice. The dining/eating area was also okay.
It is not a luxury resort and dont expect nice or good quality facilities. I did not like poor fixtures and low-set toilets.
L'hospitalité et le resort est très propre
Location
No separation in the bathroom for the dry and wet area. No chair inside the room. Maybe its just the room I got.
Quiet, nice views, and food at the restaurant was very good.
The rooms are not “luxury” as advertised and for the price. Needed to ask for towels, TV didn’t work, sheets had stains, and bathroom items are cheap Dollarama products (eg Spa Soap).
Lovely. Comfortable bed. Meals available on site and they were wonderful
Room was amazing
Meals were lovely but would have liked snack foods. We had travelled all day and just wanted something small.
Felt like they are still feeling their way - staffing seemed a problem. Front desk person was our waitress and continually apologized. Didn’t have full set of towels in bathroom ( didn’t realize until ready for shower). Toiletries were a mish mash
Very special place . Peaceful
The tv is impossible to navigate couldn’t figure out anything not one thing .
Seems like a new venue or venture. Loved the property surroundings being in the country, very quiet. Seemed to be upgrades or renovations going on though, our hillside view was blocked by a tree and a big excavator right outside the window. Rooms were fairly clean and well designed though. May be better once the improvements are completed in 2026.
