No evening meal served on Sunday evening so meant we had to travel to find somewhere to eat.

Fantastic rooms. Great breakfast. Wonderful views over the reservoir
Limited storage in the room. Meal service not available in the evening and the bar closed early.
Lovely old building, renovated well, and our room had a great view, overlooking Scaling Dam.
Great location - 20 mins from Whitby, less from glorious Runswick Bay and pretty little Sandsend.
We liked the room, and the well-equipped bathroom (shower room) was a great size.
The staff were lovely, especially Sam, who couldn't do enough for us.
Breakfasts were delicious. (We ate out in the evening as kitchen closed abt 5pm, but that suited us, and there were plenty of pubs serving food accessible within minutes.)
I found the bed uncomfortable, and the duvet was lumpy, so I didn't sleep particularly well.
While we enjoyed the location, the view and the sound of the birds, the main road is very busy from about 6a.m., and the traffic noise may not suit some people.
