The towels were thin & rough, the TV couldn’t connect to any apps or my phone, they only gave 1 key, and there isn’t any staff onsite to help with issues.

The staff didn’t get back to me and there was very limited

The room was clean but I texted the number several times with no response. There is no one at the property. I had to drive 6 minutes to a hotel in mission valley to get the keys. I texted the contact number asking if the kitchen had pots and pans with no response. There are pots and pans but the lack of response made my stay very unpleasant. The sheets are thin like sandpaper and the same with the towels, thin and terrible. I didn’t sleep well and I would not stay again. The area is safe and I had a parking pass, so that was easy.

Having to drive across town just get my room key and then driving across town again to get to my room is a rather inconvenient thing to have to do. Especially when that is only stated in fine print on the very bottom of the page list.

The room itself was nice, modern. However, I was never notified that I would have to check in at a different hotel location 15 minutes away from the property. There’s no lobby or staff at the property and no way to get into the building. I had to call the only number I had that was only in service between 8a and 5p. Luckily a resident gave me contact information to the front desk and I was able to check in after about an hour of trying to figure out what to do. It’s not a hotel per se, it’s an extended stay/apartments because there were mailboxes assigned to units. This is not how it was advertised.

Room keys issues!!!!!Especially when u go food shopping, need ro do wash, unload car and ur key wont even let you in the building by the time i loaded the car went got new keys, unloaded frozen desert wasnt frozen.. Fire alarm goes off in the am. V"oss of time and

It was not a hotel. I had to drive about 5 miles away to Oris Hotel to get the key. I called and no answer and I let a message and no one got back to me. Not ideal place at all

No front lobby service. Had to drive 3 miles and come back to get a room key. Not convenient but it is clean and nice the hotel

My recently stay at The Starling Inn was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had.

The check-in process was a nightmare! I was sent to a random “satellite” address with no signage, wasted 30–45 minutes circling the area, and only after calling was I told to check in at the Iris Hotel (which should have been included in the instructions).

The property advertised free parking, yet I was only allowed one space despite informing them that we had two cars. I also requested an early check-in, was told I’d be notified when the room was ready, but never received any follow-up—I had to reach out myself at 3 PM which is just bad business.

While the studio looked modern and clean at first, the problems quickly showed:
• The pullout sofa mattress was filthy and unusable(I wish I could attach my pics), with no bedding provided. I had to go and BUY my own bedding!!!
• Only two large towels and one wash towel were supplied for multiple guests, with no way to request more.
• The complimentary lotion had mold inside the cap.
• Amenities like an iron/ironing board were “available upon request,” but there was no effective way to request them since there’s no front desk—only a text line that wasn’t helpful.

Overall, this “hotel” feels more like a POORLY managed Airbnb. The lack of communication, misleading amenities, and cleanliness issues made this stay stressful instead of enjoyable. I would not recommend The Starling Inn until they address these serious issues.

Property states free parking and that they would email you beforehand with check-in instructions. I didn’t receive an email. No one answers the phone when you call. I responded to the text message sent after placing the phone call. I didn’t receive anything back until day of my reservation and it said I could request a parking spot. I requested one and they said it would be assigned at check-in. When I checked-in, I was not assigned a parking spot. I called the number with no response. I texted the number and never received a response. I drove back to the office (you don’t check-in on the property) and he said that there wasn’t any parking assigned to me and I would have to find street parking. There wasn’t any so I didn’t stay here and had to find a different hotel.

Very unprofessional

For the price its great the rooms are fairly new, Up to date modern style inside and out. Parking can get squirrely from time to time. On Expedia you are provided 1 reserved parking space with you reservation

Made a reservation for 4. Was lacking linens for the pull out sofa bed and towels. The smell of the eco-friendly cleaning agent/bug repellent was strong.
Having some size to the room and a separate bedroom from the rest of the apartment which has a small kitchenette was nice. We had an assigned parking space, but other people parked in it.
Check in is off site in hotel circle, so if you are transportation limited, this might be a challenge. Directions for the unit appear geared for air bnb.

The value proposition is pretty good, especially if you are doing things close to the apartment, like working/visiting sharp or rady's hospitals. Close to Convoy, University of San Diego, and very close to 163 freeway access

Great room for the price of the area. Clean and ac worked great. Only thing is that it had minimal towels and make sure to bring your own toiletries as the ones they provided was very small but worked for us.
