The Avonbridge is undergoing major renovation, which we knew about before arriving. We stayed in the renovated Kirkland building, and it's a real improvement. The rooms are stylish and comfortable with great bathrooms, the owners have clearly invested heavily. The staff were friendly and accommodating throughout.
My only gripe, both on this stay and previously, is breakfast. It isn't up to scratch and doesn't match the image the hotel is aiming for with its upgraded rooms. The brown bread was so sweet it tasted like cake, the cheese was processed and displayed under clingfilm, and the fruit selection was underwhelming. I like the tick-sheet system for hot food, but the poached eggs arrived looking more like they had been hard-boiled.
I noticed a sign in the car park advertising an "award winning restaurant opening soon". I hope that care extends to breakfast too. With the rooms now this good, breakfast deserves the same effort....
The rooms don't have USB sockets, which is a shame as these could/should have been fitted during the renovation.
The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment to a lovely standard, this didn’t impact our stay at all. Room was spacious and beautifully decorated, brand new en-suite facilities

The tv and wifi suddenly stopped in mid evening.
I tried calling reception but no answer.
The place we were staying was an annexx .
I tried next morning and again nothing.
On leaving the key back i said about the wifi and tv but the recrptionidt just shrigged her shoulderss and apololgised. .

Rooms need updating. Same bathrooms as when I last stayed here in the 1990s
Used to have a comprehensive restaurant menu. This time there were only 5 choices and 3 of them were unavailable !
The room itself was nicely decorated and a good size. It was conveniently situated near the centre of Hamilton.
The beds and pillows were uncomfortable. There was nowhere to comfortable to sit and have a drink because of the refurbishment.
I am a regular at the hotel and was very impressed by all the new re-fit and modern look that's going on. Huge improvement.
The bed mattress' are still not the best.

Sunday breakfast was really quite poor. Felt like the cheapest ingredients were used.
The hotel is having extensive renovations and should not be taking reservations. It was cold, and I doubt anyone would eat in restaurant with all the pdust about. In my opinion it should be closed until renovations are complete.
Cold no facilities for coffee etc although I believe restaurant could be used but not encouraged.
Bathroom had been refurbished but smelled of drains.
Full Scottish breakfast was good. Don't bother with the buffet!
Wifi did not work. Bathroom smelled of drains. Ridiculously oversized pillows were uncomfortable. Room apparently was refurbished but the funiture looked like it was from a charity shop. The plastic chair didn't fit under the desk while sitting. No curtains and the blind drawstring was over 7 feet high - only tall people can reach it.
The breakfast buffet selction was pathetic.
Perfect location for a stop over en route to the highlands
We were advised after booking about some refurbishment being done in the hotel , we wasn’t advised it looked like a building site , with equipment left all on the landing and hall way leading to our room , wall paper strippers were left lying about with leads still plugged in , surely in this day and age just close the property for a week , whilst undergoing a refurbishment
