Great experience in an old western hotel
My husband and I stayed at the Bodie Hotel in mid-September 2025. We were only there one night as a stop on a road trip, but we had a lovely experience. The owner met us at check-in and gave us a ton of really useful info about different restaurants and businesses in town as well as nearby hikes and other attractions. The location is very convenient and across the street from a beautiful historic courthouse. Our room was totally spotless and the bed was really comfortable. We did not mind not having a tv in the room, but if we had some more time we would have loved to watch a movie in the common room. There are a lot of great '80s and '90s VHS tapes for the guests to peruse. Overall, couldn't recommend this place enough.
The owner Jeff was awesome and helpful. The room was very nice and entire hotel was renovated to a very high and creative standard. Really enjoyed our stay here.
Staff very friendly and helpful, bed and room comfortable. Liked the old west hotel feel.
The hotel is beautiful and the owners were fantastic. Jeff was so kind and helpful with information and even safely stored our bikes overnight.
This will be our overnight stop from now on when coming through town.
Absolutely loved my stay at the Bodie Hotel. The hotel is beautiful and so well cared for. I was super comfortable and had everything I needed. Jeff & Jo were wonderful hosts - Jeff found out I was staying plants and showed me the hops vine our back and pointed me in the direction of the most incredible hot springs I've ever been to! Perfect spot for a rest in this area. Enjoy!
One thing really disappointed me was the fact of when I reserved the room I chose a room with 2 queen beds, it was showing on the pictures even today it shows me this picture but what I got was a very small room with a bed over bed a to small shower room. I hope that never happens again.
The hotel itself is wonderful as far as the history behind it goes. Jeff, the owner was very welcoming. The second we walked in the door. He gave us a tour of the home and showed us to our room. He was great! He even suggested trying out a couple of different hot springs in the area and that was an added bonus. So much rich history in the home in the area and I believe the boat hotel is one of the best places to stay if not the best place to stay in Bridgeport.
We loved the unique decor and history of the hotel. Owner, Jeff was so very nice and laid back. Also had lots of suggestions for food and activities.
Quirky, quaint, historical and comfortable hotel. Nice soft beds. Many local eateries amd a gensral store within a very short walk. Friendly and knowledgeable owner.
Such a comfy bed and the room was so cute. Bathroom was amazing too. I love the history of the building. If you like Wild West vibes it’s a great stay.
The owner checked us in and told us of some awesome local hot springs to check out. He also pointed us to the best food choices in town. The rooms were restored nicely, very spacious, and clean. The owner even gave us a little tour and talked about some of the building’s history. Very much enjoyed the communal espresso machine, fridge, and back porch. A nice relaxing stop!
I love the idea of the old world charm but this was a bit disappointing. Know that it is basically self-service. It could've been better kept inside and out but was severely lacking. For the price we expected much more. You have to bring your dirty towels to them daily and ask for new ones which you have to get yourself, you have to take out your own trash, and in 4 days Noone even offered to change bedding or clean. The toilet is clearly linked to very old plumbing which is obvious by the brightly marked clean outs in the rear of the building yet staff will try to blame any type of blockage or problems on the guests. Staff was friendly until this review was submitted and come to find out they are extremely rude and unprofessional incorrectly commenting on clothing and cleanliness and children is absolutely insane! Be careful if you stay here as they are most likely listening through the walls and watching your every move. A bit creepy if you ask me. They also tries to come after us for plumbing expenses of $250 for their old plumbing clogging up lying about us flushing baby wipes that we have never done. All because we left a negative review. Owners that do this should never be allowed to run a business. Pretty sure dude was cracked out on some type of upper as well. Just read their response to my review and tell me if you would want to stay somewhere where they treat their customers like that? At the very least I should be owed an apology if not a refund!
I can’t say enough amazing things about our experience at The Bodie Hotel. Owners Jolissa and Jeff made us feel more than special, they made my son and me feel like family. They made amazing recommendations to do around Bridgeport, from fishing to hot springs to horseback riding. We spent 4th of July in Bridgeport—an experience in and of itself—but everything was made more special by our stay. Our room itself was spacious and clean, and we took advantage of the parlor and patio. Cannot recommend The Bodie Hotel enough. The only reason I don’t want to is because I want to make sure we can book a room the next time! 😜
This is a fantastic place to stay in Bridgeport. Jeff made everything very easy. The hotel includes a communal balcony and lounge fit for a variety of activities. It also has a tv with dozens of tapes to watch for a nostalgia fix. We will definitely be returning.
My son and I just wrapped up a two night stay at The Bodie Hotel and what a pleasurable experience it was. We were warmly greeted by the owner, Jeff, when we arrived. You can instantly tell he loves the history of the hotel and town, as well as the area. His excitement is infectious! Jeff gave us a tour of the hotel and several suggestions of what to do in the area. We had the bunkbed room, which was a perfect space for my son and me. The parlour space allowed me to get some work done and the WiFi connection was solid. There is coffee downstairs and a Nespresso machine upstairs, as well as a communal microwave and refrigerator.
The hotel is historic and the owners have applied a thoughtful approach to the decor in order to maintain the historic feel. I loved looking around at the many details.
I definitely plan to return!!
Lovely place to stay with friendly, welcoming staff!
The owner met us showed us around was totally gracious. We will go back again and highly recommend it to everyone just to experience the friendly atmosphere! Both Jeff and his helper, Steve, were first rate!
What an interesting place! This is an old hotel, moved from the nearby ghost town. There are a few rooms, each having their own charm. Everything was clean and worked, which is important in an older property. In the back of the upstairs, was a small kitchen with refrigerator and microwave and a coffee maker. There is a room with a tv downstairs. It's a cute, quirky little place. I really enjoyed my stay!
This is an genuinely old building that was relocated nearly 100 years ago to its current location in Bridgeport. The old Victorian wood creaks a bit and you won't find as many outlets in each room as a modern hotel. This authentic piece of history is exactly what we were hoping to find and we're so glad that we stayed here. The feel of this hotel is warm and welcoming, made even more so by "Steve," who greeted us kindly, walked us to our room, chatted with us about the history of the hotel and even offered to help carry my bags.
Conveniently located in the middle of this two block town and close to Bodie Historic State Park. We enjoyed our experience here very much.
