The Wellington Hotel Birmingham - Budget Hotel Near O2 Academy

Initial entry shows the carpets a little grubby and scuff marks all up the walls as you climb the steep stairs.
Uncomfortable 2nd bed in our room as it dipped on one side.
Grade 2 listed building so no double glazing to protect from the traffic noise
Limited choice at break but all options were fresh and consistent.
Awesome friendly & helpful staff
Room clean with fresh towels and plentiful tea/ coffee supplies.
Indian restaurant attached comes highly recommended

Good location, good price, free breakfast, window didn’t lock and could be opened from outside so didn’t feel secure.

Good value hotel, cheapest I could find near the centre and really well located. Great Indian restaurant attached. Friendly staff, sports TV. Didn’t get to breakfast which is included. My room was tiny which I expected. What would have made it better is if the fixtures were all fixed to the wall - hooks, shelves, bathroom shelf and shower were all loose or hanging off - easily sorted one would think. TV didn’t work. However, I would return, the benefits outweigh the niggles and very affordable

I slept well but would stay again, very narrow stairs to second floor.
Continental breakfast was provided.

A small room granted but spotless. Staff were lovely, really friendly. A basic breakfast but absolutely fine.
Really liked this stay!

Key was not left in key box for late arrival but I was able to call the owner who came over 15 mins later with a key.
Hallway smelled of cigarette smoke, walls marked with many scuff marks from suitcases, staircase bannister old and chipped paint.
Bedroom window didn’t open so nowhere for bathroom steam to escape.

Overall I didn’t feel unsafe, but didn’t feel comfortable.

Excellent staff and amazing value

Very old hotel. Everything is old and stained. The stairs going up to the room are filthy. Inside the room, the furniture is as old and outdated. You can hear everything from the outside bar and street. Hotel is also next to a highway.

Absolutely brilliant for the price. Staff are friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable, easy checking in and out, and a delicious Indian restaurant right at the back!

I thought it was a good place, my room was small but according to the very clean price and nice comfortable bed I recommend it.

The romm was small and very hot the winow could not open and the fan wasnt serving the purpose

I needed an earlier check in as my concert tickets came through late which clashed with check in, but after explaining this i got access to my room early and it saved me missing out. Staff friendly and helpful. Outside was a noisy road but not terrible. Great shower, much needed after a sweaty gig and walk back.

Excellent central location. The rooms are small, but well equipped and comfortable.

You should visit the Indian Cafe Racer downstairs whether you stay in the hotel or not!

Very basic hotel, not in great condition, rooms tiny and Buidling very tired looking, capets and public areas not well kept.

No mattress protector on bed, just a sheet over the mattress, cracked mirror, tiles in bathroom, no where to hang clothes and old fashioned sash windows filthy dirty and hard to open.

Positives: nice staff; friendly welcome and location good.

£100 for a night was a lot for this room.

It was good as a convenient area to get around but the room was small with tv very low over bed and a broken toilet seat.

Basic but clean and friendly, would stay again but ask for a room upstairs as door to the bar which was just outside the room was constantly in use and slamming shut.
