Welcoming stay in a beautiful historic Essex town
Pros:

Beautiful building in an idyllic location. Very welcoming. Room was well appointed with a view to the front. Parking was available right next door to the building. The breakfast basket was very nice, a lovely way to start the day.

Cons:

There were a few small maintenance issues, which although they didn’t really impact our stay negatively, resolving them would enhance the experience for guests. Things like a lightbulb needing replacing, a wobbly armchair, a dripping tap, wobbly toilet seat.

A must visit, will definitely be returning.
Pros:

The setting was beautiful, staff were warm and welcoming, the rooms were lovely, full of character and little extras. The location was set in a nice quiet village yet close enough to everything else you may need, nightlife etc. During our stay we visited the beautiful areas of Debham and Flatford, ideal if you want to visit a romantic setting, or if you want a days paddleboarding in a beautiful setting. We will 100% be returning, my missus also fell in love with the pubs Cane Corsa, a gentle giant of a dog loved by everyone. To finish our break off I also proposed to my lovely missus who said yes, it was a great end to a wonderful break away.

Cons:

There was nothing not to like.

A good stay generally
Pros:

The room was lovely and spacious, as was the location.

Cons:

The shower only had tepid or cold water. The pub was also very loud until about 1.30 in the morning

A Comfortable Place to Stay!
Pros:

This relates to the Maldon Room. Friendly staff who took our few requests seriously. Strong Wi-Fi. Good size room and en-suite. Excellent powerful shower. Although a drinkers pub offering no food, a generous breakfast hamper was provided and replenished daily which was ample. Not too noisy bearing in mind it’s a pub. Good value for money. Good comfortable bed too although this can be subjective.

Cons:

Not too much to dislike although a second chair would be useful in order to enjoy the hamper provided.

Lovely area. Lovely oldy worldy inn! Lots of character
Pros:

Beautiful building, perfect for us as nice bar, nice garden, parking etc. Pool table was a bonus :) The staff were all very friendly and we got to book in very early which was unexpected and very welcome after a long trip.

Cons:

Wouldn't have minded a cooked breakfast but the breakfast basket was ok with lots of goodies.

Great place and good value. Will stay again I hope.
Pros:

Very nice room! (Maldon)
Decor was simple but cosy. Admired the handiwork of the plumber/tiler who made the gorgeous shower despite the wonky floors.
No problem with any noise from the bar!

Wonderful stay in a property brimming with character. Not for with mobility issues due to old stairway and beams.
Pros:

Great location with parking. Nice to have tea and coffee making facilities plus a fridge. A small tea pot would have been a good addition.

Pub had a great atmosphere and the staff were fantastic.
