If you're looking for a place to stay near the airport to adjust for travel logistics, this is a good option. Quite standard as you would expect from a Marriot. Staff was friendlier than average for this type of chain hotel.
Like pretty much everything in Costa Rica, quite expensive. Value overall in Costa Rica is not the best. Everything is priced in dollars for the typical american tourist. Not a coincidence you only see americans around. We go to much more expensive destinations, but the sense of value you get is outrageous. We paid the same price for a superb meal in Paris for what you get in the super simple restaurant right across the street from the hotel. Almost laughable... a simple meal was about the same price as the stay in the hotel (which from this lens you could say that the value of Marriott is actually decent).
We needed an overnight stay near the airport with a shuttle. This facility met all those requirements, and being a flagged hotel, we knew what to expect. It was clean and convenient.
We chose this hotel because they have a shuttle. Since SJO is renovating, many things, including hotel shuttle pickup, is relocated. We had to call three times to figure out where to be picked up. Once we found it, the shuttle driver left us twice, despite us attempting to flag him down. If the front desk would simply have said," Walk through the parking garage and wait on the road by the garage," we would have avoided paying to get to the hotel.

Desde que entré al lobby me di cuenta de que el hotel no estaba en las mejores condiciones. Después de recibir mi llave y hacer el check-in, caminé hacia mi cuarto y noté que las instalaciones no estaban limpias; incluso me asomé al gimnasio y estaba todo desordenado. Al llegar a mi habitación, me di cuenta de que estaba justo detrás del estacionamiento, por lo que la luz de los coches al estacionarse era muy molesta. Además, al ser un hotel cerca del aeropuerto, hay gente entrando y saliendo durante toda la noche. Se escucha el constante ruido de las puertas abriéndose y cerrándose, e incluso lo que sucede en las habitaciones aledañas. No lo recomiendo en absoluto, además de que el precio es sumamente alto para la mala experiencia que ofrecen
Love the property. I always stay here and I refer many of my guests to stay here.
It was $170+ for one night. I stay here a lot and it’s usually $100 a night so I didn’t even look at the price. The desk person said it was because I booked last minute and it was priced on occupancy. I understand dynamic pricing but would think they would take care of me when I questioned it since I am a frequent customer and recommend so much business to them. Also the customer service in the breakfast was terrible. I felt like I was a burden to them. This was surprising too. Of course, need to take better care of their clients if they want the return business so I’ll evaluate that when booking a room next time.
Super friendly staff, everything is clean. Nice temperature throughout the building. Beds are comfortable.

Shower pressure pretty low and shower door opens the wrong way and water sprays all over the bathroom floor when you get inside
Plenty of good standard fayre.
The airport transfer bus is getting a little tired.
