An Infrastructure tax was introduced by the Zanzibar government from 1st July 2015. The tax of US$5 per person per day is to be collected by the hotel accommodations from all inhouse guests on behalf of the Zanzibar Revenue Board (ZRB). This amount is payable directly on check-in.

For bookings of up to 5 rooms, a different cancelation policy applies. Cancelations must be made at least 60 days before arrival to avoid a 100% cancelation fee. A welcoming home in the heart of Stone Town
Shaba Boutique Hotel was a lovely base for exploring Stone Town. We found its location incredibly convenient, with the attractions we wanted to visit within walking distance. Being able to step outside and explore at our own pace made our stay even more enjoyable.
The rooms made good use of the available space and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. For us, it was a place to settle in and recharge between our adventures.
But the heart of Shaba is undoubtedly its staff. The welcome was warm, and we quickly felt like part of a family. The team were attentive, approachable and always willing to go out of their way to make us comfortable. That personal care made the hotel feel like much more than somewhere to sleep.
Breakfast was mostly vegetarian during our stay and offered a lovely opportunity to experience Swahili-style cooking. Going in with an open mind and trying the local flavours was part of the enjoyment—you only miss out if you don’t give them a try!
Very friendly staff,welcoming,helpful they made breakfast for us to eat on the way as we were having an early flight and the place is supper clean nothing to complain of

the hotel is an old traditional house in the very centre of stone town and with its traditional architecture is a real highlight. The staff at the hotel is the gem of the place, they make you feel at home. The breakfast included is top quality, varied and very tasty

It’s a very old building that is a labyrinth of steep stairs. We had lots of heavy luggage and no help with it. Our room was adequate and spacious, but we had just 2 threadbare towels for a 4 person room- we really just rented the room to take a shower before our flight, so it got the job done with plenty of hot water, but I would have been concerned if we had to sleep there.

I loved everything about my stay. The location was perfect, the atmosphere was lovely, and my room was beautiful, perfect boutique vibe. I especially loved my large balcony. Staff were amazing!
The only downside was the limited breakfast options.
Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und hat uns viele gute Tipps gegeben. Touren können auch direkt über die Unterkunft gebucht werden, was sehr praktisch ist. Das Frühstück war okay und insgesamt wirkt die Unterkunft sehr authentisch. Die Lage ist außerdem super zentral, sodass man vieles bequem zu Fuß erreichen kann.
Die Zimmer sind wirklich sehr klein und für zwei Personen teilweise schon etwas eng. Außerdem ist die Unterkunft etwas hellhörig, sodass man andere Gäste hören kann. Gelegentlich gab es Stromausfälle, was auf Sansibar allerdings nicht ungewöhnlich ist. Die Unterkunft hat Generatoren, die schnell einspringen, daher war das für uns kein großes Problem.
