Like having a small quiet apartment. Love the access code rather than fooling around checking in at a front desk. Love the little lobby bar and the little perks. Really feels like I am using a friend’s place without the friend being home.
This is my new place to stay when I am in Tyler.
Very nice hotel, very clean
The Thomas Hotel is simply amazing! We live in Tyler but some friends and I decided to have a little staycation to try it out. The staff was so accommodating and the check-in process was seamless and quick. The entire hotel is gorgeous with wonderful architecture and interior decorating. My friends and I would not hesitate to recommend the Thomas as the must-stay hotel anywhere around.
I did forget my black metal drinking cup and tried to go back in and get it but my code no longer work.
Room was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. Hotel felt very secure. Be prepared for the view if you stay in the room facing the deserted building and deserted parking garage. It may be the worst view in the entire town. Close the curtain and enjoy your stay! Visit the Loft across the street and eat at Moocho Burrito for breakfast.
. Great stay
The Hotel Bar was absolutely wonderful! The experience provided by the bartender behind the bar was sublime and the menu was very impressive ! Such a beautiful space and The Cocktails are on a different level for Tyler Texas! Cash was awesome
Let’s start with the positives.
1. Property was clean
2. We didn’t need or use but there was a nice kitchenette set up with fridge, microwave, dishes and sink.
3.towels were nice and they provided make up clothes instead of having to use wash clothes.
4. The ore-arrival instructions were thorough and easy to understand.
5. The hostess we met we when arrived was friendly and helpful in advising us where we could park.
6. AC works well.
7. They provide robes.
Negatives:
1. Price is absolutely way too expensive for this property. We chose this property because it was supposed to be boutique and nice. Not the case. It was more like a dorm room type of set up. There was nothing warm and inviting about the property.
2. This is like a bed and breakfast except with no breakfast, I think they have maybe 10 rooms.
3. They claim to have a “lounge” called the Judge. The lounge consists of a couple of small tables and a few chairs and is part of the lobby. The “bar” is a counter with a. Mini fridge underneath. It’s supposed to be open on Saturday evenings and there was never anyone there working.
4. Parking is sketchy. Signs say no parking, hostess said we could park in places that said we couldn’t. We did park where she advised and there were no issues.
5. There is no elevator access. It wasn’t the end of the world for us but when traveling with heavy cases, an elevator would be preferred.
6. There was one small windows in our room that overlooked a deserted and dilapidated parking garage with all kinds of inappropriate graffiti.
7. There was a small side table in the bedroom and a bed. No clock, no safe. No USB Ports, all electrical outlets.
8. Robes provided had seen much better days, served a purpose but it’s time to replace them.
9. You have a sitting area/living space but no TV. Only TV is in bedroom.
10. Walls are paper thin.
11. Suite 5 is located directly over a bar that has loud music until early hours of morning.
12. You have to have a code to get into the front door as well as your room. We arrived back to hotel at 11pm and our code wouldn’t work. There was no one working in the lobby. Called and a young woman came out in her shorts and slippers to help us. She couldn’t get our code to work, then a younger man came in front door and started to help. Still couldn’t get our code to work. After a few minutes the guy said, I will just give you my code. Lady looked at guy and said “that gets you into everything”. We just wanted to go to our room and go to bed. We ended up writing down the guys code and went to our room. Essentially, with his code we had free run of the building and suites I believe. I never tried the code anywhere else but that’s alarming that they would give someone a code that would get into “everything”.
13. Check out is at 11 but we let at 9:40. They advertise they have muffins and coffee in the “lounge” at breakfast. There was nothing out and there were 3 people working at plastic tables and there was white paper taped over the windows. It’s appeared they were closing for a couple of weeks to do some sort of work. We walked past the 3people, no one said a word, never looked at us, nothing.
14. As we were packing up, we found a man’s dirty sock in the corner by the tiny bedside table.
It served a purpose for us to sleep while we were in town for a wedding but we would have been no worse off and spent less money at at courtyard or best western,
14. There was one
Very nice and clean. All amenities provided. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
I liked everything.
My husband and I stayed that the Thomas hotel 2 nights over the last weekend. First of all there is zero parking for the hotel that is not taken when you arrive. There are NO DESIGNATED SPOTS FOR HOTEL! Also we there is no luggage cart available to help bring luggage to your room. I am very fit and capable but had two sets of golf clubs and luggage and it would have been nice to have a luggage cart to accommodate us this time.
There is no ice machine in the entire hotel. When I called the person that was the "front desk clerk" I was told I could take a 2 min drive to local convenient store to grab some.
Lastly the rooms are not chic at all or modern! There is one bed side table on one side of bed and the other side of bed requires someone to squeeze up against wall to get in and out of bed. There is a super small vanity that only one person can use at a time and no full length mirror in the entire room.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!
Overall, The stay was lovely. Everything was nice, clean, staff were welcoming and helpful. Only thing was the view from suite 3 and the internet was out the entire time. We couldn’t watch anything on the TV which was hard on my kid! Would definitely recommend though!
We loved the suite and the location. However, the bed was very uncomfortable. We both woke up with backaches.
The intake vent at the end of the sofa was in desperate need of cleaning.
If you open the shower door too wide to exit, water runs off the door and into the closet. If anything is on that floor, it gets very wet. That happened to a pair of shoes on the floor and our dirty clothes bag and the clothes in it.
The kitchenette was nicely furnished.
A
Lovely property. The staff was proactive in sending all the pertinent information needed before we even arrived. The room was well outfitted with everything you might need. A great option if you need to stay in Tyler or surrounding area.
Great view of the jail and right next to a construction site that was power washing walls until 11pm. Walks between the rooms are paper-thin.
The hotel is ‘contactless’ . There is not full time staff. As a woman traveling solo it’s uncomfortable . The property itself is beautiful , rooms large . There was no mention in the listing that there would not be someone there .
The Thomas Tyler is in inviting boutique hotel in downtown Tyler, Texas, with many other interesting things to do nearby. Several family members stayed in their rooms for a family wedding. The staff was welcoming and helpful with all our questions and needs. We enjoyed our 3-night stay and would gladly come back to stay again! The amenities were well thought out and useful.
Front desk was very polite and helpful, bartender was also great. Room was quiet and perfect for our stay. Will return
Great location downtown. Very helpful staff. Nice room except for the pillows.
Clean, convenient, and customer oriented. Suggest you book on the second floor.
