Recommendable hotel
Pros:

Liked the top roof, the room, breakfast (good food, clean and nice atmosphere) The hotel is new and modern, just matching our taste! It is a plus to have gym, but it is small.
Very central location. How they managed some small issues, made us agree it to be a five star hotel

Poloha v centru nedaleko všeho co vám udělá ve Funchalu radost
Bazén na střeše skutečně vyhřívaný, takže i v únoru v pohodě
Personál, zejména skvěle reagovala recepce a dáma na snídani byla vynikající (na snídani jsme byli jen jednou z šesti dnů pobytu)
Voda každý den na pokoji

Cons:

Transfer z letiště nezafungoval, i když byl hotelem potvrzen, ale vzít si taxi přes Bolt bylo naštěstí opravdu velmi snadné, rychlé, kvalitní a levné, což je skvělá věc ve Funchalu i na Madeiře obecně a mile nás to překvapilo
Fota pokoje na Bookingu neodpovídala realitě, ale recepce vše skvěle napravila, když jsme se ozvali, děkujeme
Pokoje jsou na standard hotelu nezvykle malé a snadno se vydýchají, pokud jsme otevřeli okna byl zase slyšet hluk či cítit pachy z ulice
Snídaně měla navzdory recenzím špatnou kvalitu pečiva (skoro nic čerstvého místního, křupavého, skoro vše bylo polotovar, rozpékané, nedobré), chodili jsme proto raději do skvělých podniků na brunche, kterých je v okolí vážně hodně, další skvělá věc Funchalu. Dostanete zde na brunch jak křupavý chléb, tak skvělé capuccino a velmi dobré zážitkové snídaně a užijete si to na úplně jiném levelu, nic proti... ale tomu hotel nemohl vůbec konkurovat. Funchal je na brunche prostě úžasný.

An unforgettable stay with exceptional staff
Pros:

We had an amazing stay at Barceló Funchal Oldtown and couldn’t be happier with our choice. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful and went above and beyond to make my friend’s birthday truly special — it meant so much to us!
The rooftop bar and pool are absolutely extraordinary, with stunning views, and we honestly think this is the best choice in Funchal Oldtown. The location is perfect, right in the heart of everything.
We were very, very happy with our stay — thank you to everyone at the hotel for such a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

Prima hotel, maar ik zou een volgende keer een hotel aan de rand van het centrum boeken.
Pros:

Het ontbijt was goed. Voldoende keuze, helaas niet alles vers (zoals de croissants). De locatie midden in het centrum was top. Alles goed bereikbaar en dichtbij de boulevard.

Cons:

De kamer was erg klein en donker. Dat kwam doordat de ramen smal waren en we uitkeken op een muur (de steeg). In deze steeg bevond zich veel horeca, wat nogal lawaai veroorzaakte. Helaas was de isolatie niet voldoende om dit echt te dempen. Verder was de receptie telefonisch moeilijk bereikbaar, er werd pas na drie keer opgenomen. De informatie over het aanrijden en parkeren was beperkt (er werd niet vermeld dat je met de auto voor de deur kan komen om je koffers uit te laden). We kregen wel informatie over de locaties van de parkeergarages, maar pas in het hotel bij het inchecken en na doorvragen, werd er vermeld dat een bepaalde garage goedkoper was via het hotel.

Great hotel for exploring central Funchal
Pros:

Nicely appointed hotel in a great central location in the old town. Rooms are modern and well furnished. Breakfast offered good hot and cold options including a chef cooking station. Reception staff were welcoming and always happy to help.

A perfect stay for the 5 days - have recommended to others already!
Pros:

Excellent location in the middle of the old town and in amongst the restaurants and within easy reach of the waterfront and prom.
The roof terrace and pool a lovely feature
Great breakfast with wide choice.
Lovely bedroom, great shower.
Friendly and helpful staff.

Excellent choice when visiting Madeira
