Ether Tulum

I didn’t want to leave & cannot wait to go back! The staff went above and beyond for us during our stay; 10/10 super friendly & attentive service. The entry to the hotel is very unassuming which I appreciated. Despite the party vibe outside of the hotel, I slept fairly well. If you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs & an eye mask. I stayed in Astra 1 which is a little less rustic than the other options on the property. The food and beverages were very good, and there is a convenience store & a coffee shop that is open earlier nearby if needed. We did lose power one morning, but it was resolved within the hour of staff receiving notice. This is a great stay for people who are well traveled/lower maintenance. Ether is an absolute GEM.

El hotel esta bonito y muy acogedor. Muy tranquilo en la zona, esta cercas que varias tiendas y restaurantes. A 10min camindo tienes un cenote. El servicio fue excelente muy serviciales y amables. Lo recomiendo 💯

Communication with receptionist was perfect.Very polite , helpful and fast.Parked car inside and enjoy a quiet night of sleep. So so private.
Didn’t spend much time at property but if your looking for extreme privacy and zero people, this is the place to be.
Very down to earth, following the old Tulum vibes.
Dont know others but our room (2) have a bery small mini split AC which is not enough to cool down the whole room.I can guarantee you that during hottest months of the year it boils.
Shower Water taste and feels very weird ( salty/sweet) and I have no ide where it comes from.
I spent 2 weeks in other 2 hotels in Tulum and didn’t have this issue.
This property is pretty, if u like nature it will suit you.
No hot water.

My friends and I had such a relaxing time here. Because of the small number of rooms, it feels so private and never crowded! The staff is insanely kind and attentive as well. We stayed in Astra and the decor was very nice, and it’s a short walk to the beach. One thing to note is that there is some construction going on at the moment, but since we weren’t in our rooms during the day, that didn’t bother us much. And it is close to the main road, so some noise pollution from bars nearby is inevitable.

The only suggestions we have are maybe adding a couple more mirrors/a full length mirror — 3 girls and 1 mirror was a little tricky. And then maybe a few bath mats in the bathroom. But overall, we really enjoyed our stay and we appreciate the staff for making it a great trip!

SAVE YOURSELF, DO NOT BOOK -- we booked two rooms through the ether website, and instead THEY PUT US UP AT A DIFFERENT PROPERTY ALL TOGETHER? There is NO beach access, no restaurant, no management present either. It seems like they have two other "sister properties" so they put it in their fine print and were SUPER RUDE. We got ripped off, save yourself.

Overall we had a fantastic stay at Ether. The staff was very helpful and kind especially Roxanna. She helped us book an amazing tour of Chichen Itza and was always responsive when we needed her. She gave us a bunch of great advice on where to go and what to see. Can't say enough about the beauty here. The grounds are beautiful and it's only a short walk to the beach. It's in a great area with easy access to shops and restaurants. Always felt very safe. There are some things travelers should be aware of. I would not call this a resort or hotel. A bohemian style B&B best describes it and breakfast is not included. There is one Chukum and one Palapa room. The A/C is only on from 7pm to 7am. The electrical grid in this part of Tulum is a bit unreliable and there will be times when the power is shut off. This is mostly during the day. The bar/cafe is open from 9am-6pm and serves breakfast and lunch. The food and drinks at the cafe were great. They will also bring you food and drinks on the beach--again this is not free of charge. We had a great time here and highly recommend it if you're in the mood for more of a bohemian style experience.

Such a peaceful stay!

We had a great time here, the place is super quiet, right on the beach and doesn’t look tacky or in your face like the other Tulum places. It does feel like being in Tulum before it was an Instagram hotspot!
Kudos to Roxana who made sure we had the prefect holiday

At first glance, Hotel Ether appears to be a high-end and stylish place. However, it quickly becomes clear that more effort was put into aesthetics than actual quality. Many things look nice but are either not functional or poorly executed.Examples?

The bathtub in the room looks great – but since the drain plug doesn’t seal properly, you can let the water run for hours and still not take a bath.
The bathroom faucet is so loose that every time you use it, you worry it might come off in your hand.
Unfortunately, this hotel is not built for real quality but rather for quick profit. It aims to be in the same price range as the best hotels in the area – just not when it comes to craftsmanship and durability.
On top of that, our room was right next to a busy main road, making it extremely loud with constant noise from motorcycles, cars, and parties. Depending on what you’re looking for, this might not be ideal at all.

One positive note: The tropical gardens leading to the beach are beautifully designed – we have to give the hotel credit for that.

We liked the location and the surroundings of the property. Our room was very well equipped and we had a pleasant stay. The staff was friendly all around from the receptionist to the servers in the bar to the guys who cleaned around in the area. The food in the restaurant bar is excellent as well as the drinks. We had some special requests and they were very nice to us. Overall a very good place.

Ether Tulum is beyond incredible! From the moment we arrived, we were embraced by its peaceful and magical atmosphere. This place became very very special for us, as I proposed to my fiancée here! The setting staff arranged for us, the serene energy, and the breathtaking surroundings made it the perfect moment. If you’re looking for a place that feels truly sacred for unforgettable experiences, this is it. Highly recommended!

Wonderful place, quiet and very kind and nice staff. We also had lunch there and they amazed me with the best Mexican food and cocktails in the area in my opinion, at affordable prices thinking you eat on a Caribbean beach.

I highly recommend it, it doesn't have as many beds as the others but at least you have your privacy

experience with my host and staff. I learned some Spanish to make things easier for myself. So do yourself a favour and learn some Spanish to enjoy your stay even more. Thank you and I WILL be back for sure !!

Hello, we stayed in Ether for 3 nights and it is a small boutique hotel in Hotel Zone in Tulum. At the front, it has no way of indicating the property but when you get to know the wooden wall that is Ether’s, then it is not difficult to find. For most taxis, we told them to take us to Be Tulum as it is a more known hotel near it. The overall property is nice and full of plants, giving off a great island vibe. There is only 4-5 rooms and if they were all booked at once, there is plenty room to relax around. It is extremely close to the beach which is a plus. However, the beach is full of seaweed at the time we went, and I am not sure if they clean it up (Bigger hotels tend to have cleaner beaches). Staff is great and helped everywhere they could. There is a watch at night above the wooden wall who is there making sure things are okay. A HUGE thing we noticed is that AC is only available from 7p-7am in a hot and humid environment. We did not know this until shortly before we arrived. Staff said it was to conserve energy and gave a mixed response when we asked if we can use it for longer. The AC was only a small unit that served more as a cold fan which caused the room to take an extensive time to cool down even at midnight. Another HUGE thing is that the room does not have a fridge either which means you must purchase cold drinks and expect them to be warm in the matter of hours. ALSO, if you are staying in the Moroccan Tent, there is no way to lock the actual tent with your belongings other than the small safe. We found people trying to walk in our tent thinking it was another part of the general property. Water pressure is also lower than the other hotels near it so expect the water not to run as well. As for the bar, the prices were pretty high for decent food. Smoothies were nothing more than frozen fruit blended as opposed to the unique branding it had on the menu. Tacos were good, but money would be best spent elsewhere. Lastly, we were accused of not having one of the small hand towels that were originally in our room. I understand why the it is important to have all things remain in the room but to charge 200 pesos (a little for over 10 usd) over this small hand towel was a bit drastic. At this point we spent a great sum of money on room/drinks and had thought we had a great time despite some of the flaws with this hotel. After talking to staff, they were adamant about the fee for the towel and would not forgo it. We respected and paid the fee. In Hotel Zone, there are plenty of other hotels to explore in the future that will have mentioned essential amenities and won’t cause unnecessary predicaments.

A quiet and beautiful stay right on the beach with the best staff. Great place to stay for couples or friends. Make sure to eat the breakfast served on the beach and grab a morning coffee at kosmos coffee next door. The best beach clubs are a bit of a walk so having a car is helpful.

The space staff was great
