Ocean Mist Leith

Had a fab 1 night stay. Bed really comfy and some lovely touches within the cabin. Spotlessly clean and great attention to detail. Staff are really friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Lovely continental breakfast in a lovely setting. Ship is beautiful!

Friendly staff, beautiful room, birthday for wife and did not disappoint. Very special place. The boat was spotless and very well kept. Great transport links from city centre, tram stop 2 minutes away. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere in the bar with beautiful cocktails. For the service, room, atmosphere and setting, I believe this one night stay was an absolute bargain. The room in particular was decorated to an extremely high standard with a fantastic bathroom and walk in shower. It was wife’s birthday and room was also decorated as a surprise. I genuinely could not have asked any more from this stay, my wife is still talking about it!!

We visited the Ocean Mist on a Sunday during the Christmas holidays. We stayed in a cabin which I think next biggest one up from a berth.

The room was probably around the same price as a standard hotel room, premier inn or so. The room itself had a super king bed and was around the same size as a standard hotel room with a en-suite. Very comfortable bed, with a in room thermostat so the room was cosy even tho frosty outside.

The decor of the boat is just fantastic, really keeps with the 1920s theme. With free sweets and chocolate biscuits dotted about everywhere.

The top deck bar is just beautiful, with the hammered brass ceiling and just such a comfortable relaxing vibe. The cocktails are pretty epic. I went for the applewood smoked whiskey drink which is served table side with a glass domed cover over your drink, with the applewood smoked whiskey inside infusing. It was more theatre than a drink serving. The staff were absolutely fantastic. So helpful and professional. They really added to the atmosphere and experience.

There are multiple bars and restaurants within walking distance with Michelin star restaurants too. The bars are very upmarket and very different. Some old style to new styled bars. We found a few really good ones. You’re spoiled for choice.

The breakfast was actually really good. I was a bit let down when I found there wasn’t a cooked breakfast option. However the continental breakfast was fantastic. With an array of meats cheeses and smoked salmon. Cereals, fruits, yoghurts. A great choice of really high quality pastries(massive). And different types of bread for toasting. My wife had a bacon and cheese bread. I opted for a seeded bread. So it was really surprisingly good.

All in all a great trip and great value for money. The highlight is just the general feel and vibe of the place. Especially the top deck bar. Which is now my favourite bar anywhere.

The welcome and service that we received was fantastic and the room was spacious and super comfy especially the bed. The walk in shower was amazing and breakfast was lovely. Nothing not to like on this boat, a welcome change to the normal hotel.

Lovely floating boutique hotel with 18 bedrooms. Bedrooms are compact but really good sized en-suite. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. The bar staff on an evening were friendly and attentive (Sorry didn’t get your names but thank you for the picture 😂 and indulging Kev and his card trick!) What a gorgeous location to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. The continental breakfast was more than enough to set you up for a good few hours. Thank you Toni for making us feel so welcome and your colleague too. We will be booking for next year!

Perfect location
The Atmosphere was great.
Friendly staff happy to help 24/7 and give history on the hotel and previous owners throughout history.
The room was perfectly suitable for my partner and her mobility needs after the staff member on hand kindly swapped us to a accessible friendly room, The rooms definitely have the right feel to them for the style and type of hotel.
Definitely value for money and would stay again. No issues at all regarding cleanliness everything was clean and spotless in the room.
There was hardly any issues with noise due to being in a quiet location.
The Amenities provided in the room were perfectly suitable along with Breakfast in the morning if required.

Staff amazing and helpful. Check-in, check-out very professional. Great location, very warm and welcoming atmosphere, room amazing and beautiful, nice clean and comfortable. Great value including nice breakfast. Nice quiet and pleasant.

The boat is exactly what I wanted it to be. The staf was polite, professional and accommodating. Rooms were kept very clean! The bar/lounge is comfortable and cozy, the drinks are amazing and price is fair or even on the cheaper side. The bar staf is also very nice.
I would highly recommend but advise to not take the breakfast - I had it mandatory in my price, which I find wrong. I believe I paid 25€ per day per person for a croissant and worse than American coffee. This really bothered me so that is why I give bit less points. Other than that amazing, would go again!

Easy parking adjoining the ship & very convenient for the shore bars & restarants. Buses & trams into Edinburgh within a 10min walk

Absolutely superb boutique hotel on a boat. Lovely renovation. Staff were very friendly & had lots of good restaurant tips. (The Shore - Bar & Restaurant across the street from the Ocean Mist is a fantastic seafood restaurant with reasonable prices.)

My room on the entering floor (at the back of the ship) was HUGE — large bedroom & bathroom space. Breakfast was plentiful & good quality.

During my stay (mid-June, 2025, for 4 days), the boat was completely calm. I never felt it wiggle even once. Ok, granted it was hot sunny weather the whole time too. I loved it so much there that I tell all my friends to stay there & would definitely stay there the next time I’m in Edinburgh.

We had a pleasure to stay overnight and it’s very special very traditional boating feeling.
Specially, our waitress Toni was amazing. She was working at the breakfast service She is absolutely stunning, helpful, funny and absolutely professional.

This is a lovely hotel, beautifully furnished. The staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast and a drink in the bar. There are some lovely restaurants nearby and there is easy access to Edinburgh. We would love to return.

We’ve just returned home from our most recent stay on the Ocean Mist, our second this year and third overall. The ship is a delight in a perfect location. The Castle View bar is a wonderful relaxing place to enjoy the delicious breakfast options or savour a drink or two which we did on more than one occasion. Well it would be rude not to. The crew are friendly and welcoming, and I’d like to send our thanks to Toni for making an important day during our trip much more special.

Great atmosphere on board,,especially the bar lounge - very helpful staff - good for gluten free. Would like more fresh air in the room / cabin

We loved our short break on the Ocean Mist. The boat was stunningly decorated, great attention to detail, the bed was comfy and it's in a great location for restaurants, and just by a tram stop so easy to get into Edinburgh. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, the bar staff and the breakfast team were all brilliant, and the continental breakfast was amazing, we especially liked the pain au chocolate with custard in! Lots of choice. Thank you!
