Last minute trip
Pros:

The service was great. For the price that we paid I would have expected at least a view of the beach or a closer walk. Instead it was a 19 minute hike down a pretty steep hill with potholes. They also advertised a shuttle to the beach, when we asked for it the staff was not aware that that was offered on hotels.com. Once we showed them it was listed, they were happy to take us down to the beach. The pool was nice and the breakfast was good. We even saw some monkeys outside of the room. Overall the hotel is nice but for the price it’s a little far and underwhelming. It was a last minute choice for us.

Pros:

Mother Earth Vegan Hotel in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, is a hidden gem that offers a sublime fusion of luxury, sustainability, and conscious living. From the moment you step into this serene haven, it's clear that this boutique hotel is dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for those who seek to indulge in the beauty of Costa Rica while adhering to a vegan lifestyle.

One of the highlights of staying at Mother Earth Vegan Hotel is the food. The on-site restaurant, Off the Grid, offers a fully plant-based menu that is nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish is a culinary masterpiece, showcasing the richness and diversity of vegan cuisine. The ingredients are fresh, locally sourced, ensuring that every meal is not only delicious but also nourishing. From inventive breakfast bowls to gourmet dinners, every bite bursts with flavor and creativity. The chefs clearly put their heart and soul into their cooking, making dining here an unforgettable experience. Shout out to both chefs!

Mother Earth Vegan Hotel stands out not just for its luxurious accommodations and delectable food, but for its commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. The hotel operates with the environment in mind, from its use of solar power and water-saving systems to its zero-waste policies. The staff are passionate about educating guests on the importance of living sustainably, and their dedication to this cause is both inspiring and admirable.

Pros:

Excellent personalized experience. Great for avoiding crowds or mass produced cuisine. Fresh made to order, all organic and locally sourced. Salt water pool, ego building, friendly staff and yoga studio available. In walking distance to downtown or staff can ride to center as requested.

Pros:

This hotel needs management. The staff is very friendly and accomodating, especially Miriam. But the vegan food is extremely overpriced, especially for Costa Rica. The breakfast is not buffet and limited. You do get a small fruit plate and a smoothy, along with some other option. The streets leading to the hotel are littered with horrible pot holes that would tear up any car's shocks and suspension. I asked so many people why the hotel did not provide a shuttle transportation into town and could not get a good answer. The small dirt streets on steep hills with huge valleys of rain gullies and pot holes were unwalkable for my wife and I. So plan for a $10 cab ride every time you want to go into town in order to avoid a 20 minute walk up steep hills in the extreme heat or unexpected rain. I hope they consider providing convenient, safe, and expedient transportation into town.
The first thing we noticed when our taxi dropped us off was the sign posted in front of the hotel that stated "Reserved for Hotel Owner" parking. We found this to demonstrate how the priority of the manager completely missed the mark. They should replace the word "Owner" with "Hotel Guest" on the sign asap. There is no phone in the rooms, so any questions require a walk to the office.
On the positive side, the pool is nice and well-kept. The Staff is helpful when they can, although there seemed to be a lot of staff turn-over and many were new or uninformed.
