This is likely my last time using booking.com for a hotel stay

Cons:

I booked this hotel after staying one night at a 5-star property in Andheri East, and the contrast was shocking. Ariana Residency has absolutely no business being listed as a 4-star hotel. Even 3-star would be questionable.

I paid ₹20,834 for 4 nights (about ₹5,200 per night) for an extremely small room that felt poor value for the price. During my stay, I met another guest who had a much larger room and was paying less, and I later saw significantly lower rates advertised online.

At the front desk, I was shown a pamphlet listing much higher “official” prices, which already felt inconsistent with what I had paid. Separately, another foreign guest mentioned that pricing often varies for international travelers. I cannot independently verify this as hotel policy, but based on what I observed, pricing transparency is a serious concern.

Hygiene was my second major issue. During breakfast, staff handled food with bare hands. The same hands were used to pick up toast, pour tea, carry trays, and top up buffet items. Even the fruit had a strong mixed-food taste, suggesting poor cutting-board and food-handling practices. I felt compelled to soak my fruit in salt water before eating it.

Another concern is that full payment is collected at the beginning of the stay, which effectively locks guests in and prevents them from changing hotels if dissatisfied.

When I asked about the hotel’s 4-star classification, staff told me it was Booking.com’s rating, not theirs. This is highly misleading, especially since I had just come from a genuine 5-star hotel also booked through Booking.com.

Location aside, this hotel is overpriced on Booking.com for what it offers. I would not recommend it, especially to international travelers who may not realize they are overpaying.
