Beautiful Chateau
Pros:

Beautiful Chateau to stay in with a really lovely clean room for our family of 4 to stay in. Kids loved seeing the fish swimming in the castle moat. There were also donkeys, chickens and geese at the back. Games room on the tip floor with table football, pool and darts. Breakfast was included as continental and had a choice of breads, pastries, yoghurts, crepes and cereals with jams, honey and Nutella plus cheese and meats. Would highly recommend a stay here

Lovely Château Hotel
Pros:

I wished my stay would have been longer that just one night. The hotel is set in a beautiful château surrounded by a park with a little lake. I was given a quiet room (equipped with a water kettle, big bonus), with a nice view across the hotel grounds, and I had a good night's sleep.
Staff was very friendly and helpful too.
I can very much recommend this place!

A pleasant surprise
Pros:

We booked this stay months in advance but got worried when we saw the reviews and watched to see if there were any more up to date ones. There was none in the English section but we decided to stick with it and visit anyway. We were very glad we did. It is a lovely place. It is hundreds of years old so do not go there expecting modern construction - the floors do creak! The windows are single glazed. But they open onto a magnificent lake and the sound of birdsong and the resident donkey braying.
We ate in the restaurant which is small but comfortable. We arrived quite late and the manager had reserved us a place without our requesting it. The food was good and very reasonably priced. We had the three course menu and there were three choices for each course. Not a huge choice but for such a small establishment it was what you would expect.
When we arrived we were welcomed by the owner and a young lady who offered us the choice of speaking English or French (in case we wished to improve our language skills!) The waiting staff spoke only French.
Our room was decorated in shabby chic - this was intentional decoration and not just wear and tear!
This is not a high end boutique hotel, rather it is a traditional French chateau whose owner has restored it and is providing a charming service.
I recommend it to those looking for a lovely experience who can accept that not all mod-cons are necessary for a pleasant stay. I feel that previous reviewers were looking for the wrong type of accommodation. Our thanks go to M. Cocquerelle and his family for maintaining such a charming chateau hotel.

Dreadful Hotel and Restaurant
Pros:

Nice spot but that is the only positive. I was greeted by a surly chap who had the charisma and charm of a soap dish. The room had a broken shower and the pop up waste didn't work. When I mentioned this to the only member of staff he shrugged his shoulders. We made the mistake of eating in the hotel with food being served by the same chap and it was awful. We were asked if we would like to go to the club room to finish our rinks which we did. This proved to be a scruffy rom in the attic. The TV didn't even have a working aerial connection as it didn't fit the wall plug. I left early as I didn't want to risk the breakfast and mentions doge problems to the two girls on reception who said they would "tell the manager". WiFi didn't work in the bedroom or restaurant. I recommend staying anywhere else!

Extremely disappointing & coule be so much better
Pros:

This is a pretty little chateau in quite a conveninet location for a stopover travelling between the UK & Belgium or Germany. The building itself is quite imposing, akmost completely surrounded by a moat & with small but pleasant gardens.
However the bedrooms, service & particualry the food are simply terrible! The bedrooms are tiny, one of our party had a shower which was falling off the wall & when reported to the (only) memeber of staff was simply met by a shrug! The adertsied 'free wifi' simply doesn't work or must be on an old 'dial up system' it's so slow.
When we arrived we were met by one grumpy chap who seemed to be the receptionist, doorman, barman & waiter all rolled into one. We never even saw any other staff at all!
However thed worst experience of all was the (tiny) restaurant. There was no a la carte, just a single set menu with a couple of choices of cold starters & 3 main courses, all of which were almost inedible. Our main courses were from what we could tell mutiple re-heated, totally overcooked meat of some description but we couldn;t even decide whether they were made from chicken, beef, lamb or possibly a stray cat or dog. Whatever they were totally inedible!
Whilst a bed for the night might just about be aceptable we would STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you eat out of staying here. We had to pay €50 for a bottle Meursault that had been kept badly & was on the brink of going off as none of the less expensive wines on the menu were 'available' & all the food was ether pre prepared, pre cooked or obviously bought in, badly served, poorly presented & mostly inedible.
Quite possibly THE worst 'Chateau' any of us have ever stayed in in France!

Worst experience . Very disappointing
Pros:

We arrived on a Sunday eve after spending several weeks touring Europe and we're looking forward to a little luxury to end our holidays before heading back to the UK.
The website paints a glorious picture of a small French Chateau and on arrival it looked the part. Inside however was a different picture. Shabby and tired looking. We were so looking forward to a lovely meal and a drink at the bar.
Sorry sir the restaurant is closed!!!
Sorry sir the bar is also closed !!!
You're the on people staying here!!
At this point we should have left immediately but have driven for most of the day in torrential rain the thought of tying to find alternate accommodation at this stage was not an option. Up to the room.
Small and shabby. Air con was noisy even when switched off and kept us awake. The toilet leaked and the windows were dirty.
Overall this was a place that was past its sell by date and needs lots of improvements.
We did find an excellent restaurant 15 minutes away and really enjoyed our meal.
The final straw was the bill which they added breakfast @ 25 euro .even though included in our price . We did not pay again .
No apology was offered for anything
We will not. Be returning

Desperately disappointing
Pros:

We booked the Chateau d'Aubry as a bit of luxury for the final night of a two week visit to France.
Unfortunately it was far from luxury.
The room had seen better days. Tatty and torn bedspread, understocked mini bar, sub-standard toiletries. We had our four year old and 18 month old with us so had asked for a family room. The kids were effectively in the corridor between our room and the bathroom.
The Chateau was holding a wedding which meant we were unable to use the terrace. The dining room was completely unable to cope with serving us at the same time as hosting a wedding. Our supposedly gastronmique meal was a sorry affair. The waiter worked alone and had to cover all our tables and double as the sommelier. He was ill equipped for the job.
The meal itself was nothing special but what galled us the most was the epic wait between wine refills. Torture. In the end I had to fetch the bottle from its place tantalising within eyeline and refill our glasses myself.
The final straw was the noise of the wedding which went on until 3.30am. I would always cut huge amounts of slack for a wedding but this went too far and there was no one in the hotel to manage the situation.
The hotel staff offered no apology the next day.
I really wanted to enjoy Chateau d'Aubry but it just wasn't possible. Such a shame.

Anniversary Break
Pros:

Booked this Chateau hotel after searching online and reading previous reviews, really glad that I chose this as the place is full of character and charming. The building and grounds have you feeling so relaxed. We ate at the hotel with gorgeous food served in the hotel restaurant overlooking the garden and lake a perfect setting.
We will definitely return again for further visits with the Chateau being excellent value for money.

Delightful stopover on a driving holiday through Europe
Pros:

Beautiful setting, excellent food and helpful staff. Would have been a five star perfect place to stay if there was tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The superior room was comfortable with a four poster type bed and a small lounge, but you needed to be fit to get to it up two spiral staircases.

So good we got engaged there! PERFECTION!!
Pros:

As our car rolled through the gates, our jaws dropped. The beautiful sunset lost it's significance as the historic building soared into the sky - turret and all stealing centre stage. The bridge across the moat leads to a front door gushing with power, significance and prestige.

As we bumbled to find the bell, the door graciously retreated and we were greeted with a warm welcome, by name and without question. As our host invited us into the entrance hall, another member of staff who happened to be passing by at that point called out "bon anniversaire"! We knew there and then we were going to be taken care of. I'm not sure we had uttered more than a nervous "bonjour" to our hosts by that point. To our shame we are certainly not French linguists but we do try - although when it was clear we had no idea what was being said our host would flick to our native tongue to ensure we understood everything and that we felt right at home.

We were shown to our suite and we continued to be impressed. The beams in the ceiling above the bed were ancient and divine. When we woke up the following morning I was treated to a memory I believe will last with me eternally - waking up next to my fiancee for the first time, listening to the sound of the rain on the moat with the birds singing loudly as I looked up to the beams contemplating what they will have witnessed in the many hundreds of years in which they had been in place and how many tales had been told during strolls in the woodlands where they would once have grown during the hundreds of years it would have taken them to reach their might.

But please don't let me skip the evening before.

As soon as we dropped our bags into our rooms we headed straight out to enjoy the grounds and as the sunset continued to jettison Maroons, Purples, Pinks and Reds across the cirrus strewn sky, my partner and I enjoyed the romantic walk of a lifetime. The motion sensor activated lights ensured that as we walked, the next little romantic nuance would reveal itself it all its cupid concealing glory. Technology and natural beauty working wonderfully. There are points in your life when love fills your heart so completely and; with the little kissing bridge, the arched gardens, the mirroring moat, the donkeys and deer set to the backdrop of the architectural beauty of the chateau, my partner and I were immersed in total love for each other.

We simply couldn't stop smiling, and we simply wouldn't need to... dinner was next!

As my partner chose her outfit and shoes, I took to formulating the plan which would result in asking for her hand in marriage. I needed help. I found Bruno. Words cannot describe Bruno as he deserves to be. To Bruno I say this: You are the most perfect waiter we have ever come across. In every aspect of service and attention you achieved greater than our highest standards could have expected. You charmed us and created an experience we will never forget. Thank you.

Bruno was armed not only with his vibrant charisma and his highly polished service skills, but with food entirely fit for the Gentry that have inhabited the Chateau over the preceding 12 centuries. It was delicious, delicate and nothing short of a delightful gastronomic experience.

With our meal we savoured a magnificent 2007 Chateauneuf-du-Pape which was so full of flavour and just so smooth. It was bursting with berries and you just had to breathe in the smell, relax and enjoy. The perfect recommendation. We are currently trying to find the same bottles of it to enjoy here at home and when we do I know that beautiful scent will transport us back to the chateau and our private dining room by the fireplace with the candlelight flickering across my beautiful fiancee's eye's, her lightly tearstained joyful cheek and that stunning smile whose lips had just uttered the three letter word I had longed to hear.... “Yes!”

Chateau D'Aubry was our fairytale venue. It was a place of blessed generosity from God which my fiancee and I will always cherish, will always love and to where we will most certainly return.
