Jenny and Fabian were amazingly hospitable, they made us a delicious dinner upon arrival at a late hour, set a time for breakfast the next morning and were both so kind to us. They have worked hard to curate a collection of decor that will truly appeal to anyone who has a love for mexican folk art. This is a great home base to explore the Ruta Puuc and cenotes.
I have no complaints, we loved our time in Tihosuco
Beautiful rooms, one of the most original we saw during our stay in Mexico (really check out the washbasin…). Lovely swimming pool and breakfast available in the morning. Not many things to do in the area cause it’s a very small town but it’s a good stopping point on your way to Chitchen Itza or Merida if you’re driving from Bacalar for example!
La habitación muy limpia, la atención del joven que atiende es excelente, las instalaciones muy lindas y cómodas. La alberca muy bonita y agradable.
Uniqueness and 'personality' of this little gem guest house made it a very pleasant stop in our journey. We enjoyed the village giving us a glimpse at 'real' live and the host was friendly, warm and happy to chat about Mexico.
No hot water on the night of arrival, but no problem as had a lovely hot shower in the morning. A little more expensive than the average but this is not an average guest house, it's beautiful.
Beds were very comfortable and hotel grounds were clean and decorated well. Staff were friendly and went out of their way to cook for us and chatted with us while we ate, answering our zillion questions and even showed us around town.
A really lovely find. Colourful and cheery place to stay. The owner was so friendly and provided us with a delicious dinner and breakfast. Thoroughly recommended.
Nothing
The decor is exceptional. The details at every part of the property were just right. Great, classy music during home made breakfast. Jorge and his wife are the best hosts I have ever encountered.
Not a single thing.
Very pretty room with care given to details. Lovely shower. Breakfast was generous and interesting.
Nothing
Me encantó el lugar y la atención, no se lo pierdan
It was a very charming building decorated with very interesting stuff. The town is very limited but had lots of character. I was glad to have booked it.
Difficult to find a place to eat at night because the village is small and it's not set up for tourists.
Súper bonito y cuartos muy bien cuidados , personal súper amable
Everything about Hotel Tihosuco Colonial was amazing. The owners, Jenny and Jorge, were able to accommodate my needs with pleasure and friendliness. From modifying my dates of stay when an unexpected delay in my arrival occurred, to graciously welcoming me in the evening later than I had initially planned to arrive, to personally cooking me dinner at a late hour when there was nowhere else to find food (Not to mention it was the best shrimp pasta I have ever had!). Jenny and Jorge also took time to have meaningful conversations with me about life in Tihosuco and Mexico, and how they decided to start their business from the ground up. I commend their work ethic, construction skills, aesthetic and passion for running such a beautiful facility. The courtyard is a nice area to relax, with a pool, chairs, hammocks and plenty of space to stretch out or do yoga. The room I stayed in was modest in size, but with the feeling that I was in a palace, with the attention to detail and beautiful tilework. The town of Tihosuco is steeped in Mexican history and you are greeted with smiles from every friendly resident. Rarely have I felt as much peace and tranquility in life as I had while staying here. There was nothing not to like.
The only thing I didn't like was that I eventually had to leave. I could have stayed forever!
We booked a room in this place two hours before on our roadway to Rio Lagartos. We really had no expectations we just needed a place to sleep. But sometimes last minute, improvised things can just surprise you! And this was the case. This ancient colonial house has been brought back to splendor thanks to the love and hard work of Jenny and her husband. Everything is cured in every detail and rebuilt by the owners respecting the history of this country. You really feel the authentic and beautiful mexican hospitality. The room was very comfortable and beautiful with a big bathroom. The outside area is super cozy with a cactus garden and a pool. And cherry on the cake, they have a little area with a track from which they cook amazing delicious local and international food. I am Italian I tried their pasta and it was a 10!!! But the best was the way Jenny and her husband treated us. I left this place regenerized and inspired with a feeling of love, calm and peace. Definitely recommend it and I hope to come back one day 🤩
The location, rooms, pool, food (dinner on request) breakfast included, charm and historic town completely exceeded our expectations. Visit the museum and lovely church and enjoy a night or several in this lovely, welcoming and interesting town.
Really nothing. We weren’t expecting much and delightfully surprised. Great job to Jenny and Jorge, the owners, who rehabilitated this lovely 3 room inn. Tihosuco is a beautiful and charming town with so much history.
A real hidden gem. The drive from Merida or Tulum goes through areas of Mayan ruins and uncrowded cenotes, and arrives at a Mayan small town/large village. There is only one hotel in town, but it is stunning - you are welcomed like family by Jenny, Jorge and Pedro. There are only three rooms, but all are comfortable, and decorated in the colonial style. You are living in history, but the modern comforts - firm beds, good wifi, and a lovely pool in the back garden - are all there. And the food - try to eat as much as possible in the hotel restaurant. We tried most things on the menu, and everything was delicious - even more so as it was cooked by your hosts in front of you while telling you about local history over a glass red wine.
