Wander the Resort

Wonderful property.

I can’t rate the rooms as we didn’t stay overnight at the resort but wanted to write a review about our day at the wander spa. The ambiance was really good, the pools, saunas, steam room at a great temperature and the food was really good. I will say though that I will never be doing another group booking again for the spa. There was a lot of miscommunication throughout the booking process. At first was told everyone in the group could pay individually and then told that actually it makes things complicated to have each person individually pay for themself and that one person from the group would have to commit to pay for everyone’s spa day. This was the same story for the restaurant, by email was told I would have to pay for everyone’s food due to being a group. When we got there the person who greeted us told us we could actually pay individually with our bracelets which we were thrilled about and at the end of the meal were told that actually I had to pay for everyone’s bill like communicated in the email. So again some miscommunication between staff. We also noticed that they gave us a “booking” menu which had less options than the regular menu which was disappointing. I’d go again with a friend or my husband but this spa is not accommodating for a large group booking. Not many people are willing to fork the bill for a large group for the spa and lunch and go through the hassle of e-transfers. You are also limited to 4 hours at the spa which our lunch took up close to 2 hours of it so wish this would change as well. The person I was communicating with actually recommended a 12:30 pm lunch knowing we had a reservation at the spa at 10:30 am so we’re not sure why this time for lunch was recommended. At the time of booking, I was under the impression we could stay as long as we wished like other thermo spas I had been to. To sum it up, a great little spa for a couple not so much if you’re planning on going with a large group.

Top tier customer service. This is a gem of a property. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

We had a wonderful stay for our annual girls’s weekend at Wander. The cabins are lovely with so many thoughtful inclusions that made our stay so comfortable. Staff was very responsive and friendly. We enjoyed dinner at Gather - it was delicious. It was the perfect spot for the five of us to put our feet up after enjoying local Wellington and Picton main streets. And taste testing at some local wineries. Especially appreciated the free EV chargers made available to guests. Would recommend Wander to those looking for a comfortable stay on the water in that area.

The staff are super friendly, the property is stunning and comfortable. The restaurant and spa is 5 star. I would highly recommend and will be returning in the near future. Absolutely loved our stay!

Staff was accommodating went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. Our cabin was cozy, modern with upscale kitchen. The thermal spa melts your stress away. A true gem!

We booked this resort for a two night getaway at the recommendation of a friend who said that it was amazing. They did not overstate their recommendation.

We had some special health needs which necessitated speaking to Fazeen at the main desk prior to booking our stay. Not only did he immediately agree to accommodating the needs, but he did so in a way that was exceedingly kind, caring and sensitive. I had the privilege of meeting him in person when we checked in. His kindness continued. Jane at the main desk was also very helpful when we arrived.

Our “cabin“ was gorgeous. Technically it is a cabin, but it is one that is designed with careful attention to detail and definitely not what one typically thinks of when you think of “cabin”. Please see the photos on their website to get a sense of how beautifully designed/appointed the cabins are.

The bed was very comfortable, and the choice of pillows, linens and throws was perfect. The in-floor heating felt extra cosy under foot. The gas fireplace added a real sense of ambience. The cathedral ceiling with skylights made the cabin feel even larger and allowed for lots of sunlight.

The appliances in the cabin were high-end. There was no microwave to quickly heat food. This very much reflected the theme of the resort that encourages guests to slow down and use the convection oven to prepare any meals that they may have brought.

This was not a problem in the least. It was a reminder to stop rushing and savour the experience of meal preparation and meal sharing.

Even the dishes, pottery mugs, and serving pieces along with the cutlery were unique and added to the overall atmosphere.

There was an outdoor gas fire that was lit by staff each evening. With the seating that surrounded the fireplace It would be a perfect setting for roasting marshmallows and creating s’mores.

There was no television, which was another reminder to disengage from busy lives and connect with one another. We spent time in conversation, reading, and playing games that we had brought from home as we knew this in advance. Having no television felt like one of the perks of the resort not a drawback.

One evening, we needed some mechanical assistance and maintenance staff Sawyer and Matt came to our rescue. Both young men were helpful, efficient and friendly. They solved our problem quickly and wished us a comfortable stay.

Both mornings we had breakfast in the dining room. Haley and Erika were our hostess and server. Like all of the other staff that we had met, they were personable, helpful and made us feel like we were special guests.

I ordered the classic breakfast. It was the best breakfast I have ever had anywhere. All aspects of the breakfast were perfectly prepared, beautifully seasoned and plated in a visually appealing way. The portions were large therefore, the breakfast was an excellent value.

We did not use any of the spa services, but saw the large outdoor multi section pool where other guests were lounging. It looked very appealing, especially to be open and of a comfortable temperature on March 18 and 19.

The property itself is beautiful with natural grasses, lovely views, including of the lake and comfortable areas for strolling on nearby nature trails.

For a truly relaxing getaway, this resort ticks all of the boxes that one would think of and an abundance of boxes that would never occur to guests in advance. The owners and staff just know what you need and provided it before you even know you needed it. I would strongly recommend staying at this resort.

Had a great stay! Restaurant was awesome! Will be visiting again!

Serene, calming and wonderfully relaxing. No detail was overlooked which only added to the sheer luxury of the experience. From the very personal check-in to the high-end toiletry products to the small touches like the delicious cookies and s'mores kit, our stay at Wander was well beyond what we could have anticipated. The complimentary use of the in-cabin Polaroid camera to capture our special moments was a fun added touch.

Visiting in November, we knew that some of the amenities would have been closed for the season and that the spa hadn't yet reached its completion. However, this in no way detracted from the experience. We made use of the hot tub and sauna, had a wonderful meal at the on-site restaurant, Gather; and even had some time to sit around the fire, wrapped in the cozy blankets provided for us.

The only blemish was a couple of hairs in the sink and bathtub on our arrival - though certainly nothing that we were going to make an issue out of.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our time at Wander and simply can't wait to return!

This place is truly magical, and most noticeably embraces the Ontario winter season.
Our family of 3 comfortably stayed in a lovely cabin, which was spacious, had a beautiful and fantastically appointed kitchen, cozy fireplaces inside and out, heated flooring and cozy pillows and seating throughout.
The on site restaurant Gather was exceptional, well priced and the service was from Winona was both friendly and professional.
To top it off, the expertly curated winter market on Sunday was full of passionate artisans, and the abundant staff worked in the background unnoticed.
We can't wait to come back in the summer months and experience a totally different stay at the same place!

My husband and I went for dinner and we were not impressed. We arrived and there was no one to greet us at the front desk. We went and stood by another desk close to the restaurant entrance and it was probably 3-5 minutes before someone acknowledged us. There was a server at the bar behind us that saw us enter and said nothing. I also counted at least three people who came out of what must be the kitchen area and saw us standing there and also said nothing. Additional, after someone final attended to us she did not offer to check our coats if needed even though there was an area for coats in the front entrance.
The food was good but not great for the price. My husband found the octopus to be overcooked. I had the Warm Cinnamon Butter Bread Pudding which came as two pieces, one was cooked perfectly and delicious while the other was slightly burnt. Our server was lovely however the overall experience did leave us wanting to return.

Liked the overall resort and amenities.
Dining room menu could add a daily feature for variety.

A great venue on West Lake, Wellington outskirts. A beautiful, new restaurant spa cabin accommodation place. Accommodations are new, beautiful decor, private and $$$$$ expensive for a high end getaway experience that caters to families. The grounds and beach are expansive, nicley done with an outdoor bar and lawn/beach furniture. There is a pool, sauna showers and they offer a day pass for use of the grounds at a reasonable price. The restaurant overlooks the grounds and beach with a full glass window view, full of light and inviting. I found the food well prepared, reasonably priced ( $20-40 mains) experienced servers and am overall very pleased with the courteous staff and overall experience. Well done Wander.

Booked the "beach day" at Wander. For $45 per person I was not "impressed". The beach itself was not "easy entry to the water- lots of gravel. The chairs/layout was ok- not much privacy or ability to move chairs- and really only one of the three types were comfortable. The changing areas- were "sheds" that left little room to actually change, and the washrooms were a portable trailer. The food and bev staff- were nice but ineffective- IE the lager was one of the worst I have tried and was difficult to get them to switch to something more palatable.

Resort was spectacular! Rooms were spotless and roomy, top line appliances, great sitting area outside of cabins. We had brunch in the restaurant on Saturday, service and food quality was amazing. Check-in and check-out was very easy. Service from beach bar excellent. All staff were friendly and always said "Hi" to us all. Pool area spacious and clean. Mel was great to deal with, always knew our name.
Look forward to coming back!

There is construction on site of which we had been advised but it was a bit more extensive than expected as we had difficulty finding a way around trucks and machinery to access our cottage.
The cottage itself was top shelf and very comfortable. Ours was lakefront and could be incredible when weather is warmer. ( We were there in April) The lovely pool and hot tub facilities made up for it!

We stayed there for New Year Eve with friends and family and the experience was fantastic! We were a bit worried at first because upon arrival the lady that checked as in was not very welcoming. But I also understand that we can all have a bad day sometime.
Overall, the experience was fantastic!
