Super friendly small town character pub/hotel. Very friendly staff with a very nice continental breakfast. The pub does have a restaurant but the manager kindly emailed us to let us know it would be closed the night of our stay due to staffing issues. Not a problem as there are options a short drive away. The attached pub was open for a cheerful pint.
The room was spacious and well appointed with a private entrance and parking outside the door. A lovely small village with plenty of walkable areas.
What a cracking find! Lovely village pub, helpful and friendly staff, room was lovely - comfy, clean and spacious. Views are beautiful. Food in the restaurant was very nice. Lovely basic but tasty buffet breakfast included. Most definitely hope to come back! Shame we ran out of time to use the pool table. Highly recommend. Plenty to do locally. Use the Chirk road in to the village if you are not a fan of very narrow roads with tight bends over the mountains - though these had incredibly beautiful views.
Very enjoyable visit!
We chose the hotel, as an overnight stop when we were visiting the area for the Canoeing across the Llangollen aqua duct. The room was clean quiet and comfortable. Continental breakfast available from 7:30 giving us plenty of time to join our Canoeing adventure. There’s a pleasant bar area and the restaurant had a good menu, the Sunday roasts were very good. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially giving us advice on alternative routes to Llangollen avoiding the steep narrow roads that sat navs direct you. Good news for dog owners is that it is dog friendly.
Very welcoming! Lovely room. Staff very friendly and helpful nice breakfast
Booked through Expedia, and I had a confirmed booking, but when I rang the hotel the day before travelling, they said I did not have a booking, they were full, and blamed Expedia. They were abrupt and showed no concern to be honest.
Expedia were in denial, insisted I had a booking, and were no help at all.
I had to book an alternative myself, and was lucky to find something affordable for the Llangollen Eisteddfod, but 30 miles away.
All good. Lovely place, modern clean room. slightly remote but beautiful surroundings. Would definitely stay again.
Property is well located for a jumping off point anywhere in the Lake District. We had a two bedroom for my wife, my son, and with a parking spot right in front of the door. Dinner was delicious and breakfast was plenty to get you going. The you lady working the desk/restaurant/bar is a joy.
I cannot comment on the rooms as Expedia did not pass my booking on to the hotel although I had confirmation and booked 8 months ago. My 5 star rsting is due to Wil at the Glyn Valley going above and beyond to find us alternative accommodation at peak time in a small community which had an event on. Without him we would have been left with nowhere to stay. The reception bar and dining area looked spotless and welcoming.
Great relaxed atmosphere, staff really helpful, breakfast had a good selection for continental, staff very polite and cheerful (Vanessa) also check in was easy, will definitely stay again, hidden gem 👍
Great place to stay. The service was really good. The staff were friendly and efficient.
We had two rooms both of which were immaculately clean and very comfortable We ate in the bar and the food was tasty they also offered a complimentary breakfast which was excellent
I would recommend it and will stay again if we are in the area
Comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. Good food available in the evening and good selection of cereals, cheese, pastries etc for breakfast. Expedia appeared to have messed up the booking but the hotel was flexible in accommodating us and finding a room.
Booked hotel in January and when phoned the day before visit hotel didn't have booking from Expedia. Spoke to manager of hotel and all sorted and was also upgraded. Brilliant service though out our stay ..Will be booking again direct with hotel....
Great location, nice breakfast, but main thing was the lovely staff,at check in and at breakfast they were very friendly
Room was spacious & comfortable. Manager was new & trying find his way around & make his stamp on the business. Unfortunately, it was not in Llangollen which is what I thought I had booked but Ceiriog, the village was nice but quiet. The bar & restaurant was empty apart from 2 other people, the new guy is looking to change this.
All in all a great overnight stay. The only thing I found a bit upsetting was someone tied their horse to the gate on concrete and left it there for about 5hours. The horse still had a cart attached and was clearly not happy. No fault of the hotel but perhaps could refuse to serve that patron while the horse is tied there then they wouldn’t do it.
Well run pub and b&b . Travelling on my own and found the place to be very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were spotless and enjoyed the quietness. Food was freshly home cooked and plentiful. Would recommend and stay again
Tidy hotel the other side of Llangollen which resulted in a hairaising approach in our low slung car along very wiggly roads (we found an easier B road via Chirk later! ) This hotel is situated in a quiet village and we slept well both nights. Our room was huge, clean, well decorated with lovely fixtures and fittings offering plenty of storage. A roomy shower with rainfall and alternative regular option was much appreciated along with shower gel and shampoo. The staff were pleasant and the continental breakfast perfectly suited us, I liked the Tiptree jams and honey. This provided a peaceful stay on a bank holiday weekend with easy access to Llangollen where we had both steam train and a horse-drawn canal boat trips
Such a cute hotel in a quaint village outside of Llangollen. It was our first time visiting Wales and it was a great spot. The room was very clean and cozy but unfortunately had no AC or fan and the window didn't open. That made it a bit stuffy. We tried the restaurant downstairs and the fish & chips was delicious. Free parking was also ideal.
We stayed as it was local to an event we had the next day, can’t complain for the price so overall happy.
Breakfast is continental so no cooked or warm food, not sure if there is any option but couldn’t see any and wasn’t offered so i assume not.
Very quiet location, value for money.
