No privacy in “pool”
Incredibly questionable level of code of conduct and class amongst the people who work here. After investigating, I’ve heard of multiple discriminatory incidents that others have experienced here.
Here is my most recent direct incident. Please note I gave the hotel ample opportunity to address what should’ve been seen as a high priority. Lissy promised to call back and did not. I will be heard & this should’ve been addressed in a timely manner.
Individuals involved:
• Mariam (Front Desk) – openly mocked and laughed at the only Black woman entering the hotel at that time.
• Another front desk staff member – joined in this behavior.
• Lissy (Manager) – informed of the incident, confirmed that staff had made comments about me, stated she would review the footage, and promised to follow up.
On Wednesday around noon, I entered this hotel to meet a friend for a martini in the lounge. Before my guest arrived, I was subjected to open ridicule from the front desk staff, led by Mariam. I was polite, respectful, and appropriately dressed, yet laughed at and treated with clear disrespect. Other white women entering the same space were greeted warmly. And this wasn’t just one thing that happened. There were multiple things that happened with Miriam and the other Front Desk person but of course I cannot fully capture everything in this review. However, I shared every detail with Lissy when I called.
When I called later that day, Manager Lissy acknowledged that staff had indeed made comments about me and said she would investigate. As of Friday morning, there has been no call, no apology, and no indication of any corrective action.
As a Black woman and a resident of this neighborhood, I made it clear that I will not be made to feel unwelcome in my own community. I have given this establishment every opportunity to address what happened. Since management has chosen silence, I am now making others aware both online and in person of how this hotel allows its staff to treat Black patrons.
Please note the review I wrote a little less than a month ago complementing the martini at the restaurant because it’s become my favorite and that is what kicked off this whole incident.
Apparently in the eyes of the discriminatory staff at Fouquet’s Black women aren’t supposed to be ladies who lunch after our workout class.
I will decide how much further to take this based on their continued inaction
Lovely staff. Incredible property. The hype is real. This is by far and away the nicest property we’ve stayed at in Manhattan in a long time.
Stunning property with gorgeous details and amazing service
Always a lovely experience
Loved the chocolate and desserts in the room upon arrival! The speakeasy! The gym! Definitely recommend!
Cinema/theater room wasn't operational and room Bluetooth speaker wasnt operational/couldn't get it to pair despite staff trying but staff was excellent, soft beds, lovely rooftop :)
Sommelier was amazing!
Front desk employees make you feel very welcoming. However
A hotel isn’t measured only by design or amenities. Service matters too. Impossible to reach the team, and even urgent messages to the CEO were ignored. Disappointing lack of basic courtesy and zero accountability. Guests deserve better.
Not a great experience. AC doesn’t go below 70 degrees for the room. So plan to ask for a fan. When we left we asked specifically if we left anything in one of the rooms and the front desk said NO. 2 days later we cd called again, guess what they have what we left. No we have to spend money and time to go back and get it. SPA is very small and nothing special. Do not recommend this hotel.
This is my first hotel review, and I must say my experience at Fouquets was quite disappointing. While I can understand the appeal of visiting the restaurant or bar, I would recommend opting for a Holiday Inn instead.
As expected in New York, the rooms were small, and we paid a premium for the location and brand. However, our main issue was with the air conditioning, which struggled to cool below 70 degrees. On our last night, we had to rely on a fan, and despite calling for assistance twice after midnight, nothing was fixed. It seemed like a problem with their system.
The staff were pleasant, but it was clear that there were management and branding issues. The spa was underwhelming, and one of the showers was out of order—something that should be basic for any hotel.
We didn’t receive any communication or apology from management regarding the AC issues, and when we requested a one-hour late check-out, we were denied. This was frustrating, especially since we had hoped to enjoy our stay and avoid moving to a different hotel.
In summary, this hotel lacks class. No matter how nicely it’s decorated on the outside, the experience inside leaves much to be desired.
Breakfast was fabulous
Was too expensive for the size of the room - even in nyc
Loved the aesthetics, the attention and elegance in every detail. Wonderful team, always present and helpful with a smile. Sophisticated rooms & bathrooms with quality brands essentials. We enjoyed every restaurant and mostly the beautiful terrace and view. The only disadvantage was the larking at 120$ per 24h with 120$ everytime we need the take the car when it’s unlimited access in other luxurious hotels we’ve been. We were lucky though to find free parking right there for 3 days.
Much better than any website or picture showed
Phone kept malfunctioning, but staff run up to the room to assist
Far too much to list here why this place is the top of the line. An unforgettable experience.
Goota say the Speakeasy manager Adam has the toughest job, but is also rude. They promise a seat at the lovely bar, but don't deliver. The recepition staff should tell the truth that it is onky available for hotel guest and presumably Adam's friends. Awful!
The hotel is beautifully and thoughtfully designed.
However, when I couldn't operate the coffee machine in my room and called housekeeping for help, the staff member simply said, "This machine is broken," and left. Although I expected a complimentary coffee as a courtesy, I didn't receive one.
Overall, I would have appreciated if the hotel staff — especially the front desk team — were a bit warmer and more helpful.
Other than that, there’s really nothing negative to say about Fouquet’s.
