Shigakogen Lodge

A more traditional Japanese accommodation but great experience if that's what you want to book. The dinners included were exceptional, one of the highlights of our japan trip was staying here.

Dinner and breakfast are great at Shiga Kogen Lodge. This is the third ski season we have stayed there. Location is good, with a short walk to either ski areas. The lodge has a nice lounge room which we used on occasions.
Staff are friendly and helpful.

Wir hatten einen rundum wunderbaren Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das unglaublich freundliche und hilfsbereite Personal, man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment an herzlich willkommen und bestens betreut. Der Service ist sehr persönlich und aufmerksam, was den Aufenthalt besonders angenehm macht.
Auch das Essen war hervorragend.
Die Lage des Hotels ist ebenfalls perfekt, nur etwa drei Minuten vom Skilift entfernt. Dadurch ist es ideal für einen entspannten Skiurlaub ohne lange Wege.

Dinners were excellent. Breakfast was good. Ski storage area was good. Between two ski areas - easy walk to either lift (particularly upper). Easy/good ski hire at the lodge. Easy lift ticket purchase near either lifts. Enjoyed fire place/lounge. Onsen a fairly basic set up but was great after a day of skiing. Easy to get the free shuttle from just outside the Lodge (Hotaru Onsen). Lodge was bigger than expected. Fairly aged. Room 201 has its own toilet and a shower. Has everything you need available. Private onsen/saunas looked good - but didn't use these. Dogs are allowed to stay (which was super cute)

Food was very good. The owners were very nice too and went out of his way to help us.

Die Besitzer und das Personal sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Hotel liegt im Schigebiet, man kann dort Schiausrüstung ausleihen. Frühstück und Abendessen sind phantastisch. Es gibt ein Onsen im Hotel und ein privates Onsen mit Sauna im Freien. Die Zimmer sind typisch japanisch, die Toiletten im Stockwerk, sehr sauber, extra Toilettenschuhe werden bereitgestellt. Es gibt eine schöne Lobby mit Kaminfeuer.

Great atmosphere, incredible food, staff outstanding!

Great hosts, friendly and helpful. Great Japanese food, both breakfast and dinner. The Lodge itself featured great architecture. Large onsens. Offered ski rental and a good price, although rental of snowboards was not available.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cosy ski lodge. Our room was comfortable and warm, and we made use of the onsen each day after skiing. Breakfast was a hearty buffet and dinner a good Japanese set meal. Not as posh or 'sophisticated' as some other places but good, plentiful quality food. The owner, Takashi and his wife are very energetic and always around to help. We also rented skis, boots and poles from here and they were excellent quality and a reasonable price. It's an easy drive to all the ski areas of Shiga Kogen from here. Overall, we had a great stay and I'd very much recommend it.

Emplacement parfait entre les deux remontées de ski, même s'il faut s'attendre à marcher un peu dans la neige! Le dîner et petit-déjeuners qui étaient compris dans le prix du logement étaient parfaits, traditionnels mais avec possibilité d'adaptation pour les enfants, et les chambres sur tatamis vraiment chouettes, avec une chaleur juste comme il faut malgré le froid glacial dehors. Et le onsen apres une journée de ski est une vraie merveille! Possibilité de louer le matériel de ski directement sur place (pas de snowboards), le matériel était d'excellente qualité.

The rooms are very comfortable but not all have private toilets. You can request rooms with private bathroom
Easy to get to all the higher ski fields once you work out the bus locations and schedule
Good parking
Great lounge area with ery cozy open fireplace. Good after dinner for a drink and board games
