Ago Hotel Chinatown

Quiet and beautiful property on the outskirts of Chinatown

Out of my two week trip in Thailand, this was my favorite stay. The staff were so nice and helpful, the rooms were clean, and I personally loved the vibe and architecture of the building and the location. My husband and I had booked the premier queen room which ended up having a view of the canal and getting great sunlight! The location is on a relatively quiet street compared to many of the other streets and therefore, quiet for Bangkok :)

It's close to Chinatown's main street, which we walked to, as well as a lot of great restaurants, coffee shops, and art just a few minutes away. The breakfast (a buffet ordered from a menu) was delicious.

Charming, well-situated, and a great value. I would book again.

Absolutely exceptional staff. Our family felt very welcome in the hotel. We appreciated the cleanliness. Everyone was very helpful and I felt that it was important to them that we felt good.

The breakfast was an all you can eat buffet, i was surprised about how many dishes were available to be ordered.

The only downside is that the rooms aren’t soundproof.

I stayed for 1 night in Nov 2024

Pros:
-wifi was fast. mobile speed tested at 61.6 mpbs (download) and 49.1 mpbs (upload).
-location is quiet and not too far from Chinatown and also from Talat Noi which is a very cool place to check out. Also within walking distance to mrt station.
-Owner was very friendly and helpful but also the check in girl was really nice.
-Bed was big and comfortable
-Shower was glassed and separated with strong hot water.
-Bathroom sink is big.
-Hair dryer provided.
-Bottled water provided.
-For breakfast you can choose what you want from a menu and how much of it you want. Mainly congee but the watery type not the thick type. Toast, American breakfast like ham/sausage/bacon/egg.
-They have free parking in front of the hotel.

Cons:
-Bathroom sink doesn't have much bench space. There is a small shelf behind the toilet you can use to put your things on.
-No hand soap provided so you have to use the body wash.

We stayed four nights here during our trip to Bangkok and it was the perfect location -- quiet hotel, super close to the MRT, and a ten minute walk to downtown Chinatown (with some amazing food options; we walked over in the dark multiple nights for snacks). We got the most basic room (smaller, no desk, etc) and it was cleaned every day, with water and slippers provided, and the staff were extremely gracious. The hotel also offers a breakfast--we never ate there but it smelled delicious--and arranged 4am transport to the airport for us. Really couldn't ask for more as our base for exploring the city!

The place is great. All the staff are very accommodating, specially Miss May. The room we had is very clean. The place is quiet. The lobby is full of clock antiques that made the place looks freat.Too bad we just had to sat for one night. I recommend this place!

Staff was very friendly

The hotel was pleasantly clean and staffs are very friendly and helpful. When you do book a stay, make sure you book it with breakfast in the morning. The food is quite delicious. Besides the accessibility to Chinatown, it’s is about 10 min walk to the ferry that takes you across the river to IconSiam.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and beds were surprisingly comfortable for international standards. Only complaint was that cabbies found it difficult to find the place. Other than that, excellent value for the money. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Boutique hotel with heaps of history and character located within 10-15 min walking distance of the MRT, Chinatown and River taxis. Staff and Owner are very friendly and helpful on visiting local attractions. 7/11 within a easy 5 min walk. Breakfast is very good with a variety of things to choose and cooked fresh. Bed was firm but comfortable. King room was adequate but not huge. Would advise against smaller rooms that were tiny. Front facing King room had a great view of the city skyline.
Our room could be noisy from inconsiderate guests making noise in corridor or in room late at night or early morning. Shower was a bit hot and cold. Be aware Hotel is located away from Restaurants or takeaways.

The greeting on arrival was warm and welcoming. The room is small, but very clean and has a safe. We didn’t pay extra for a view, if we had the view of the river would have been very pretty. The breakfast included was hot and tasty. We booked a dinner cruise via the front desk and were so surprised to have the owners take us there in their car! Wonderful people, so warm and inviting. Has been a great first experience to Bangkok. Would recommend staying here as nothing is too much trouble and the Temple with the gold Buddha is a 5 min walk away. The train station is within easy walk also. Very quiet area of Bangkok with no passing traffic!

I had a three night weekend stay at Ago. The hotel is in a great location on a quiet street in Chinatown. My room was excellent. Very clean and organised. Housekeeping daily. Strong Wi-Fi.

Breakfast was 200 baht and well worth it. All you can eat from a mostly Chinese menu. Excellent quality.

Staff were lovely, but they often seemed stretched. The reception area was sometimes unmanned when people were trying to check in/out. This was really the only thing I could fault.

Excellent little hotel in the Chinatown area. The staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. Walking distance to the Metro, Train, boat ferries and just a simple walk into Chinatown. It was perfect for us to explore the areas around. Breakfast was lovely, good little selection and it is all you can eat so great for those with a good appetite.

Awesome stay at hotel Ago! I wish we could have stayed longer! The owners and staff are awesome! Great location to check out Chinatown. The room was nice and clean. V recommended a good restaurant along the river!

The staff went out of their way to make our visit enjoyable. Even stood out in the rain to help us get a cab.

We only stayed for one night, but that was enough to realize what awesome hospitality the staff and owners offer. We went to catch a ride to our tour, and the owner offered to help us even though it was pouring rain. She flagged us a cab and made sure he knew where we were going. She definitely went above and beyond. The hotel itself is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. Very quiet at night. They serve a wonderful breakfast in the morning and have a bar if you want a beverage. If you are looking for a great location and just want a decent place to sleep, this is the hotel for you.

I visited Ago Hotel in early May this year, which makes this review a late one. The best element of this property is its owners. K. Vee and K. Ploy were so kind to me. On the day of my check-in, I lost my bank cards and after going through the process of lodging entries and making an enormous number of calls, it was late in the night by the time I reached the hotel. The hotel owners were so warm and welcoming, and they helped me to make a few phone calls to the local bank. As the hotel kitchen was closed, they were kind enough to drive me to a famous local street food stall to grab a Crab fried rice, and then they made sure to drop me safely back at the hotel. The kindness that they extended to me was heartwarming and touching. Thank you so much for being so kind and helpful that night!!

The hotel is nestled in a nice quiet corner in Chinatown and the hotel is well maintained and clean. The breakfast includes many options, and their authentic Chinese breakfast is a must-try. The hotel is well-maintained. The room is cosy and very clean. If you are planning a trip to Chinatown don’t think twice about booking this property for your stay. The hotel’s front desk officer Ms. Mai was also very kind and helpful. I got nothing but so much gratitude for Mr. & Mrs. Ploy and Vee. Thank you for making my stay a memorable one.
