We stayed at Gmb‑Arte' Hotel from February 23 to 26, 2026. It was our first time, and we needed a clean, safe, and accessible place with reliable internet — and this hotel delivered. We were five women, including three seniors, and the family room was spacious and conveniently located near the bayan.
The hotel is very clean and feels new. Towels, beddings, and pillows were fresh, and the room and CR were spotless. They also provided bathrobes and slippers.
We enjoyed the food at their café and restaurant — a bit pricey, similar to Metro Manila rates, but worth it. Their brewed coffee, pasta, pizza, and salad were all delicious.
The area is peaceful and accessible, with cafés, fast‑food options, and Puregold nearby.
Sogod also has frequent power outages, which we learned on our second day. Thankfully, the hotel has a generator, so we experienced no disruptions and were still able to work in the morning.
Despite the unexpected circumstances of our trip, our stay at Gmb‑Arte' Hotel was comfortable, restful, and pleasant. We slept well, felt secure, and were able to relax during an emotionally difficult time. We truly appreciated the cleanliness, accessibility, and the staff’s warm hospitality.
One thing they can refine is the toiletry setup. Their kits seem to be packed in pairs (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo with conditioner, and cotton buds). Initially, we were only given two kits even though we were five, so we had to request extras.
The shampoo with conditioner is also only good for about two uses, and since we stayed for three days and three nights, we had to ask for more. Not a big issue, but something they can easily improve.
The only drawback is that the hotel doesn’t have an elevator (possibly because it’s only four floors). Our family room was on the third floor, and while our seniors managed the stairs, it’s something to keep in mind for guests with mobility concerns.
The hotel has a modern and aesthetic design. Staffs are friendly,The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and overall it felt well maintained.
The hotel is quite expensive considering the lack of amenities. There is no pool or gym, and even basic necessities were missing. Rice meals are overpriced, starting at 400+.
This is the most comfortable accommodation option in Sogod and the safest choice if you want a pleasant stay. The hotel is new, well-maintained, and very clean. The bed is very comfortable, the air-conditioning works great, and both the hot shower and water pressure are excellent.
Rooms are spacious and well-equipped, with a couch and daybed, plenty of storage, and complete amenities such as robes, towels, toiletries, and slippers. A big plus is the free water dispenser with unlimited drinking water. There’s also seating outside the rooms and available parking. The staff are helpful and respectful.
However, the hotel is overpriced for its location. It’s not close to major attractions, and the food is not special despite being expensive—especially since there are many cheaper and better food options nearby.
One important heads-up: the hotel is right beside a church that holds mass at 6:00 AM, and the bell is loud. Light sleepers should be prepared for this.
ein besonderer Platz, wir sind begeistert und kommen auf ALLE Fälle öfters wieder.
We really enjoyed our stay and plan to revisit often.
Power outage ..no fault of this Hotel.
Clean neat and tidy did move us to another room as sink waste was leaking all
Over the floor
Staff helpful and polite security guard at front very helpfull
Bathroom small and leaky pipes loose toilet seats
Stayed 3 nights and had to ask for room to be serviced was given clean towels but room never got serviced even though advertised that serviced daily if staying more than one night
Ate in the restaurant one night menu in room look good many choices but only had 3 mains that night , had smoked ribs they were not freshly cooked and cold
The staff and owners were accommodating and friendly. The decor really nice. The food was great. Very clean. Hands down the best place to stay in Sogod.
Most recently I stayed on the 4th floor which I would happily do again but those stairs will give you a workout! In truth the excerise was good for me. Ask for a lower floor if you have any health issues. I love this place.
Great location to visit local so leyte areas. I've stayed a few times now. Great hotel with friendly and helpful service, nice breakfast, cool coffee shop. Sounds like the nearby church has lowered their bells volume signifactly.
Will be back soon.
Thanks
For the price, this was a surprisingly good hotel. The style and decor are very tasteful and modern, specially the dining rooms (the bedrooms are more basic). The food was great (try their Laing!), and got a simple but very substantial buffet breakfast. Staff were very pleasant to deal with.
The parking lot outside the hotel is unpaved, and it rained hard the night we stayed, so the inside of our car got a bit muddy. Food service was also a bit slow.
Breakfast was cooked to order and was done to my satisfaction. On one occasion I ordered a sandwich which was not prepared to my satisfaction. The owner of the hotel came to my room to make sure I was not charged for the breakfast and to delete the charges.
The one thing I had trouble with was that there was no elevator and my room was on the third floor. I am approaching 80 years old so climbing that many stairs multiple times a day was a bit of a hardship
Excellent breakfast. The staff is amazing!
It’s a very comfortable and lovely hotel with amazing staff and amenities
It’s a bit overpriced, it’s a beautiful place but it’s by far outside of many travellers budget
