Numa Berlin Torstrasse

Five hours before check-in the hotel wrote me and told us we couldn't stay at the Numa Hotel (at Thorstrasse) we had booked - and that we instead would be moved to a completely different hotel (Numa Drift) on the other side of Berlin with the general message in the mail being "You're being moved because of technical difficulties, no extra charge, you can cancel if you want to". I was appalled. I had specifically chosen the hotel at Thorstrasse, because I wanted to be close to THAT neighborhood. Not 40 minutes transport away from it. I quickly replied that I wanted more details and didn't hear from Numa for several hours. Then I looked for other hotels, but of course none was available at the same price rate, so I had to accept. After pressing Numa for answers ("We'll get back to you shortly") I received check-in information FIVE MINUTES before being at the front door of the hotel. My journey to Berlin and the hotel was not very relaxing...

So to summarize:
1. We were moved to another hotel on the day we are supposed to arrive (no phone call - just an email).
2. We hear nothing from Numa for several hours
3. We get the check-in information five minutes before arrival (information we should have gotten in the morning)
4. There was no compensation of any kind (only "we appreciate the understanding and the patience" - I can tell you I was NOT understanding...)
And by the way - I received at least 10 mails from Numa on the day of arrival. Some were saying "There is maintenance at the hotel at Thorstrasse" and several mails were telling me my reservation was cancelled. I guess they were fumbling with the rescheduling. But having to read all the emails (and hoping they didn't cancel my stay by mistake) was also not how I wanted my vacation to start.

I you can find another alternative to Numa, then do it.

La situation dans un carrefour important, la chambre bruyante, l’absence de toute presence humaine, l’absence de tout lieu de réunion quelconque, l’absence de petit déjeuner digne de ce nom, l’insuffisance de lumière dans la chambre, la salle de bain froide sans possibilité d’augmenter le chauffage. Ça fait beaucoup!

Only one very small (maybe it’s just me) I’d love access to a broom to sweep the floor as the wooden floors get dusty

no people working there, no cafe or restaurant to hang out due to construction, they forgot our welcome snacks ;)

1. Horrible experience checking in and trying to get any assistance.
2. This hotel tries to be automated but its systems often have glitches that create customer discomfort, concern, and unsafe accommodation. There is nobody to help and the whole experience is like trying to get someone to fix your problems through a black box or a AI chatbot.
3. The maintenance is fair with flatscreens that are not set up, very weak WiFi and bathroom faucet about to bend over.
4. The food boxes are horrible.

I will never stay again and have to try to get service
