Blue Gecko

This is NOT a luxury 5 Star resort. It is basic accommodation but it does it very well. The owner, George, has thought through his cottages very carefully. Everything, including furnishings are made from poured concrete but it works very effectively. Nothing is broken and there is no rot or mold anywhere. The mattress was very comfortable and every cottage has a porch with 2 chairs and a small round table. The shower stall and bathroom sink is spotless with nice tiles throughout. The shower has plentiful hot water. Everything was painted nicely and George was renovating the public restrooms. There are multiple sitting areas. All windows are black glass with heavy blackout curtains so a sleep in is actually possible. The A/C is quiet and effective. The bar fridge is very cold. This is all located a 2 minute walk to a beach about 100m wide and almost 2 km long with clear, calm water. Multiple restaurants, massage parlours, scuba stores and scooter rentals are all within a 2 minute walk. George is an intelligent and very knowledgeable person and well worth some time spent chatting with. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The prices per night are unbelievable. We highly recommend the Blue Gecko.

George & everybody at the Blue Gecko were fantastic. Super helpful in providing recommendations for things to do in the area and for directly coordinating tours, motorbike rentals, and laundry. Made the trip extremely memorable & easy. George is a gem and I would strongly recommend his place to anyone looking for a relaxed vacation, close to the beach, nature, and excursions.

What an amazing service!!
George the owner couldn’t do enough for me, if there was anything I asked for he fixed it! I was working on this trip and the wifi in my bungalow was not so stable, George even bought a router and put it in my bungalow, that’s service beyond average!
The people working in the reception and the cleaners are so friendly as well.
The bungalow was clean and the bathroom was renovated so nothing to complain about here either!
The place is located close to the beach and you have the main street close as well with many shops and restaurants. There is a proper gym as well just 5 minutes walk.
I will definitely come back to this place!

Blue Gecko was an amazing stay

Our room was clean and got everything what we needed. there was enough space and it was good to sit in terass in evening. location is perfect, beach is just few minutes Walking and good reastaurants nearby. Staff was always ready to help when we needed some help.

This is a great little place with really helpful friendly staff who make you feel really at home. Rooms ( cute little bungalows) are quite spartan but very clean and spacious with comfortable beds, good quiet aircon and lovely wide veranda. They do great breakfasts and shakes v good value . There are plenty of restaurants and little supermarkets nearby. It would be great if there was somewhere to put clothes away rather than just shelves, but that wasn't a big deal. They also give you mosquito coils which is very helpful, and do laundry without charging which is unusual. Staff really good with helping organise trips, transport etc. The beach is 2 minutes down a little road. George the owner/manager is really friendly and full of useful information. We stayed 8 nights but honestly could have happily stayed a lot longer

I highly recommend the Blue Gecko. I initially booked for 6 days and extended my stay for an additional 10 days. The resort is very well located in Ko Lanta, in a quiet area but still near various restaurants on the beach and the main road, and less than 5 minutes walking distance to the beautiful Long Beach. The room was nice and clean and well-priced. It’s a great resort for solo travelers and families.

The Blue Gecko offers motorbike rentals and can arrange transfers to other islands among other services. It does not have a restaurant on site but offers great juices from local fruits made from real fruits! and free coffee and tea in the morning.

The entire staff was EXCEPTIONAL, special thanks to Su, Ci and George who went above and beyond to make sure my stay was as comfortable as possible.

We stayed at the Lanta Smile Resort for 3 nights in February. Staff is very friendly and have lots of advice on what to see and do around the island. They have motorbikes for rent, a personal tuktuk that can drive you around and laundry service. Rooms are basic but have everything you need. Overall great stay!

The best resort on Koh Lanta. Thats why i stayed 6 months, september 2019 - februari 2020.
You become as a big family and Phan and Beng who running the resort are wonderful! (super!)
They help you with everything, Booking all kind of trips and they have tuk tuk service. Beng is also a very good bartender! And they have the best fruitshakes i ever tried!
Rooms are clean and really nice. Breakfast as well, try the ricesoup!
The beach is just 2 minutes walk away, shops and many restaurants 2- 5 minutes walk
All the staff are really friendly.

Im for sure coming back!

We stayed for 12 nights in Dec 2019 - Jan 2020 with our 4-year-old son. Just as we got off the bus we were welcomed by a lovely receptionist Phan, who immediately put us at ease and made us feel welcome. We booked a standard double room with breakfast, which includes a double bed but Phan had a single bed added to our room for our son free of charge. Throughout our stay Phan and her husband Banks did everything to help us. Our son is a picky eater, so they cooked pasta for him every morning instead of a regular breakfast choice, so that he could eat too. When you have a small child these things matter.
The garden area is lovely, if you want to just chill out Banks is there with his signature cocktails: make sure you ask for Smile555!  Banks's mango and other smoothies are delicious as well!
If you need to go into town Banks can give you a lift on his tuk-tuk, which was a huge hit with our son, as tuk-tuk is parked near the hotel, it was a playground for him!
Overall, we had a wonderful experience in Ko Lanta thanks to Phan and Banks. They take good care of their customers and we found new friends!

Stayed here for a couple of nights as our base for discovering Koh Lanta. The rooms are quite basic for what you pay, but still has everything you need. As each bungalow stands on its own you still get privacy. The reception and cafe area is very nice, and the staff is helpful with bookings of tours, taxi, scooter rental etc. Great to also have complimentary coffee, water, beach towels etc. throughout the day.

From the first minute we arrived this place hit all the right notes. Reception staff are so friendly and will help you with any concerns/questions you may have. Great location 5 mins from the beach. Lovely big rooms.

Family run and great customer service. We rented one of the new cabins for a week and really enjoyed our stay. Steps to the best beach and good restaurants, smoothie stands, massage and more. Good value.

We have just returned after a 10 night stay at Lanta Smile Resort at Long Beach where we stayed in Sky 2 Superior Bungalow. We loved our little bungalow and it had everything we needed. The air con was included in the price and was definitely needed as it was VERY hot during our sty there. The fridge was large and had an ice making compartment which worked well. A hairdryer was provided also a safe and there was a flat screen TV mounted on the wall. The bungalow was cleaned every other day along with new bedding and towels. They also provided us with beach towels which we changed when needed at reception. The bathroom was huge and was a wet room - there was always hot water although most of the time we were having cold showers due to the heat. Shampoo and body wash was provided. We also had a tap outside to wash the sand from our feet when returning from the beach.

Breakfast was served from 8:30 until around 10am and the choice although quite limited was adequate. There was a free coffee, tea, water station so you could go and help yourself whenever you needed a drink. We would walk up and grab a coffee to have on our terrace before breakfast. The also had fridges selling water, beer, soft drinks etc at very competitive prices.

The hotel is situated just a short walk from Long Beach where you will find many beach bars and massage places. The beach is huge and the water is lovely. The two ends of the beach are very different and it is worth walking along or getting a Tuk Tuk.

As I said previously we loved our time at Lanta Smile, it is a 3 star hotel which offers a range of different accommodation. My review is on the Sky 2 Superior Bungalow as I didn't see any of the other accommodation from the inside I cannot comment on that.
If we were to return to Koh Lanta we would certainly consider staying here again.

I still don't understand how this "resort" has good reviews. We stayed there in February 2019 for 3 nights and it was a total disaster... In all our Asian trip, even in Singapore for the same price we had better!

We took a standard garden view which was dark with only 2 small windows and none on the bathroom. About the "bathroom", just have a look on the picture, the shower is litterally on top of the toilet... It was also all the time smelling so bad...
There is no safe lock and depends where is your bungalow but our was close to the main road which was really noisy the night with bars around.
Also, we asked for an harbour pickup but the price of 200 Bahts was giving just 30 mins before our arrival pretending it was a free service...

The only good thing is that it is located really close to the long beach.

We had a detached bungalow and it was just amazing! Clean, spacious, the bed very very comfortable, we had our terrace and the staff was amazing. We also rent scooterbikes from them and also trips and it was everything just perfect.
We had a nice stay at this resort! 🙂

Owners are Genuinely very nice people. They like to get to know the people staying there.
They also keep the grounds very nice and tidy.
Motor bikes they rent are really good and safe.
They have beach mats and towels at the desk and a few umbrellas for use

We were happy with our choice to stay here. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and were always there to help.

I have nothing to complain about just the fact that we can’t stay longer, we absolutely loved it here.
