The Good, The Bad, & the fried bread !
Pros:

I didn't originally book this hotel. I was booked into a sister hotel much closer to where I initially wanted to be. I was moved here due to renovations at my initial hotel. ( and, in fairness, they did give me an upgrade for my troubles which was much appreciated)

The hotel itself is quite a ways uphill in the old town, not ideal for somebody like myself with mobility issues. On the 3rd day I had to hire a mobility scooter as the 30min walk into the main strip was too much for me.

The hotel itself is of course old but personally I did like the older antiquated interior design and old wood panelling.
The rooms are somewhat more updated clean, and very comfortable.
Cleanliness is top rate throughout.
The bars are a bit of an issue, especially the main bar on the ground floor. There is almost ALWAYS a long queue to get service and usually only one member if staff behind the bar who has to deal with making coffees and hot drinks etc while the queue grows longer with people seeking just a beer or other refreshment. During my entire stay, I attempted this folly only once I gave up and chose to go elsewhere for a drink outside of the hotel.

Restaurants ?
2 large places to eat, and on the whole lots of good food choices. There is usually something there for everyone. Cold food and cold plates are not a winner in my opinion. There are a couple of places where they have plate warmers but this in not the case everywhere.
They do have several microwaves dotted around ,...make of that what you will.
A chef, no matter how good he is will never please 100% of the people all of the time, and due to the sheer scale of the different Restaurants sizes and clientele, it is obvious that your own tastes will vary.

For me .. I love meat ! And there was plenty on offer almost every night. However, I lost track of the times I sat there thinking where the hell was this chef trained?

Cons:

Lifts,....lifts,....lifts,.....lifts,.....lifts,....oh yeah the lifts are a spawn of the Devil !!!

It's a big hotel. 6 or 7 floors with up to 80ish rooms per floor and many many of these rooms are family rooms. I have no idea how many guests it can hold at full capacity (which I think it was) but that's a lot of people !!

There are 4 lifts in total, of which only 3 are in working ( define working here) order.
1 of them was constantly out of order and by reading some reviews past and present it seems this has been the case for a long long time.

The 3 remaining lifts are so slow that I think they must be powered only by a few chimpanzee turning crank handles up on the roof !!!

My mobility (or lack of it) force me to use a lift rather than the stairs. Each and every day dozens of guests are forced to wait unbelievably long spells to finally get a lift.
The lifts state that they can carry 8 persons, however most of the time the lift will refuse to move if a 7th person steps in so the lifts are constantly going up and down bypassing the intermediate floors as they are at full capacity.
I personally timed one of my waiting times at 18 minutes !!!

Reception was almost always crammed pack full of guests either checking in or out. The process is almost as slow as the lifts !!!
The reception desk itself is probably big enough to accommodate at least 4 staff members if not more yet j never saw more that either one or two at all times.
